  1. Hey, West Wing is on network TV. You don't need cable to see that show. You owe me 55 dollars a month!
  2. Oh. Maybe not. Is that not your belief?

    Browsers

I don't have a very big/fast computer, and I'm still on dial-up....BUT, with IE I have problems with hanging and crashing. AND, it's kind of big, which since my system resources are strained at hte moment, something smaller and lighter would be good. None of the other ones I've tried seem to have that hanging/crashing problem. Plus, I'm digging on this "tabbed browsing thing."
  4. Sorry, a guy who thinks we should have English as our national language is not all that moderate.
  5. Why did they take pictures of it? Uh, why did they DO it? Torturing people is so not cool, man.

    Browsers

I think I hate Internet Exploder, so I'm trying out some other browsers. Anyone have any reccos, or browsers to avoid? I'm currently trying out Mozilla and Opera, so far both are better than IE.
  7. Hey Dave, why not see if Jon and Tim have any dough in the party fund? I think they paid the rent on the picnic shelter last week.
  8. Before I got custom orthotics, I wore them with pretty good result. I think if your feet are still in pretty good shape, they are not too bad. Certainly worth a try prior to spending three hundred bucks on a set of orthotics. I generally got 6-8 months of use from a set before they went totally flat. F8, curious as to why you don't wear your custom ones in hiking boots...I cant wear mine in ski boots but love them in hiking boots.
  9. I have a MHW Phantom 15 that I'm trying out. Advertised weight is 31 oz, though actual weight is 34.4 oz. That seems to be about par for the course on how far off the actual versus advertised weights are in sleeping bags. I find it interesting that the advertised weight seems to be always less than the actual weight. Phantom's an okay bag. I find it fairly comfortable, though I think it doesn't have continuous baffles. Sorry I can't say for sure, I looked at their site and can't get the details to pop up. Fiddling with one of the baffles, though, it looks like it's sewn to me. The draft collar is quite comfortable. The hood is easy to adjust, and you can adjust the top cord independantly of the bottom one. The zipper is not full-length. No major cold spots, though I wish it were a little fluffier. At full retail, the Phantom competes with the WM and FF bags, and frankly, I don't think it's as nice as either. I agree with others here who say the MHW bags (or at least this one) are decent, but not spectacular.
  10. What about worst case scenario, versus breast case scenario?
  11. I don't much care for Greg's attacks on me either....
  12. Perhaps so, but largely liberal-leaning....
  13. chucK was there. I saw him with my own eyes.
  14. I went with the Highgear Axis. Thanks for input and comments. After I've used it a bit, I'll report back on whether or not it'sa any good.

    everest sex watch

Now, if you'd read the last week's worth of journal entries, you'd know that that picture of AB and DB was probably taken after DB was doing his little duel thing with one of the fellas on AB's team. Something about ham.
  16. This is fun. I'm surprised no one has pulled out that old chestnut, "ALPiNE KiTTY" yet. HeeeeeerealpinekittyKittykittykittyKitty........
  17. Well, I had two removed. One about an inch, one and inch and a quarter. If you have nine, they may be shorter. Surgeon had to do a bit of digging to find mine, as they were in for almost 8 years. The cut was made through the old cut and the new one is about an inch and a half long. I had Mrs. mattp do a lymphatic drainage treatment on it after a week. If I had it all to do again, I'd have waited at least another half week, or get two treatments. Lymphatic drainage reduces the swelling and flush some of the shizzle out of there. Surg was 4 weeks ago today. At this juncture, I'm working 60-70 hour weeks without a lot of trouble, most of it on my feet. I still can't lift a lot, and my back is getting a bit trashed from compensating for the lack of ROM in the ankle. I am getting by on about 7 hours of sleep a night, but more would be good. I'm still a little tired. Working this schedule has forced me to take Vicodin or Percocet every night, and my ankle and foot are still swollen enough to prohibit the wearing of orthotics, and I can't wear shoes every day yet. Sometimes it's sandals. So, with a week off, and then rolling right back into that schedule, I'd say I have still recovered fairly quickly, though not as fast as if I'd been able to rest for maybe another week or two. I'm sure your results will vary, but that is how it's been for me.
  18. This is a carry-over from another thread. Let's see them pics. Really big housecats, no Photoshop cheating, unless it's really funny.
  19. I ruined one of them there Avocets by wearing it in the rain. It got wet on the inside, not a good thing.
  20. I popped into the Alehouse at about 8:10 and didn't see anyone. Did anyone show?
  21. What is the glitch? If you are at, or near sea level (or below I suppose), and the barometric pressure changes enough that the watch thinks it's below sea level, it gives you an error message, and you can't recalibrate the alti until you move to higher ground or the barometric pressure changes. Obviously this won't be a huge problem once you are in the mountains, but it's just stupid enough to make me want to get a different watch. Gene, I think the Nike watches are made by Citizen.
  22. It's time to replace my alti watch. Wondering what people use and like. I don't like the Suuntos (too big) and I don't like the Timexes, as they have a weird glitch I don't want to deal with. So not huge, and fairly easy to calibrate and use are plusses. A compass might be handy, wonder if those digi watch compasses are reliable enough to use. I'm sort of interested in the Nike Oregon Series alti, and the Highgear watches. Thoughts?

Chat? Sorry CC, missed ya a sec ago.
  24. Here is an online petition you can fill out if you are mad at GWB for not attending any funerals of fallen soldiers. If he went to one due to public pressure, it wouldn't exactly be sincere, would it?
