how was the Strobach approach? Why don't you come up to L-worth and hit Mountaineer creek with me tomorrow?

I want a partner for tomorrow. I'd like to head into mountaineer creek (mr seattle, emerald city, etc). with some luck (and chains) it is probably possible to drive to the overlook area, cutting the approach in half. OR someone with a boat. there's a nice little line in Tumwater that I'd like to score before the avy danger gets high later in the season. PM me.

Conditions update: Just got off Hubba Hubba with OlympicMtnBoy. Good ice, good pro, and fun climbing. Had to use a pin at the middle belay. we did the walkoff since it would be hard to find enough ice to do a V-thread. Definately colder up there than the forecast leads one to believe--my hands went numb twice upon further review, these still need some loving before we start hacking on them: Careno, Rainbow, whatever is next up-canyon. The Drip (about 8' from touching down. someone should bolt the cave behind it as a mixed route) The Pencil (missing the 2nd pitch) good to go: Hubba Hubba and surrounding climbs. Drury (looks like a "go". there is some open water down low.) Wet & Wild (looked OK) The Smear

Any intrepid souls ventured into Lennox Mtn yet? probably not enough freeze/thaw, but other than a wallow approach, what say you?

I'm going to be in Leavenworth over the weekend (have evening obligations). looking for ice partners. Day trips Friday, Saturday, &/or Sunday. Icicle, Tumwater, Banks, and Stevens pass area are all fare game. I lead WI4, follow harder. PM me if you're interested. Kurt

IIRC, there was one in a recent issue of Rock & Ice. We have their Hypno tents in our equipment rental fleet here at WSU. They are well constructed, incredibly light for the size, the air beam support system is great, but the fabric has the breathability of a plastic bag. It rains more inside the tent than outside even with the vents open. This surely would not be an issue with eVent, but it is with the epic and silnylon. Supposedly they are changing the fabric next season. I'd be sure to see if they're still producing the Tenshi since the manufacturer of eVent is no longer allowing it to be used in tents. Good customer service.

I too have been a good little boy this year. I think that I have earned: - a long ice season - a solid partner to replace my partner who's moving to AZ - a two month summer road trip around the west coast - easy grad school classes to give me more time to climb

I've got a set of TLT Comfort bindings with Matrix's on Atomic TM9 skis. They are a great (light!) touring setup, but the boots lack the stiffness to power all snow conditions. That said, I don't notice when I'm in the fluff....

When I was training for Denali I would put on a pack with 50lbs of weight in it, then drag a plastic kiddy sled with 50 lbs on it around the hills of Pullman in my plastics for a couple hours at a shot. The wheat farmers and sorority girls didn't know what to think.

Ice update: saw ice on Hubba Hubba, Drury, and the Pencil yesterday. Hubba could be *climbable* within the week if it stays cold.
