  1. I'm waiting for one of you to suggest that it's God that constantly decides the momentum of every electron in the universe and that this should be taught in physics classes since we should "let the children decide...." Physics certainly would have been a lot easier if I could just have written down "God did it" or "And then, a miracle occurs" on all my home work and tests.
  2. Not to steal his thunder, but it's not all that hard to get nominated if you're politically connected. Nancy Pelosi could nominate Karl Rove if she wanted to.
  3. What was that growling noise?
  4. Or a Scotsman.
  5. Is it more difficult to taser someone covered in oil? Does it work better? Damn these reporters. They don't ask the interesting questions.

    Suck weekend

The only down side I've had so far to having a spouse who does not climb is disabusing her of the notion that we aren't constantly dodging falling rocks and avalanches, that there aren't pointy razor-sharp ice stalagmites waiting in crevasses, and that my partners aren't all inattentive, inexperienced dope-smoking alcoholics. The last one is the toughest.

    Suck weekend

if you are in a relationship where decisions are based on who holds the 'sex card', you really ought to consider if you and your partner are mature enough to be in a relationship at all.
  8. This is why we are all friendly to our competitors. You never know when you might be working for THEM.
  9. Having sat on both sides of the interview desk, I can say the first thing you need to do is circumvent the HR department. Someone gave them a list and said 'match this'. They are not, however, the best judge of your skills or ability to work with a team, etc. HR is largely there to provide a buffer between the execs and the employees (sorry if any of you are in HR but it's true no matter where I've worked and you'll have a hard time changing my opinion). I've done it your way and you really do need to find someone who knows someone who can get you in touch with the people who put in the request for the actual job. Or someone who works there who can vouch for you. There are too many well-qualified people out there and what matters is people vouching for you and bringing you to the attention of the right people, not letting some HR flunky decide you aren't qualified. That's like letting someone with a degree in social work or english literature decide whether or not you're highly qualified enough.
  10. So don't forget to post your YouTube link

    Coffee

For those of you who can't be bothered doing two things at once: Scientist Develops Caffeinated Doughnuts - Friday, January 26, 2007 (01-26) 04:40 PST DURHAM. N.C. (AP) -- That cup of coffee just not getting it done anymore? How about a Buzz Donut or a Buzzed Bagel? That's what Doctor Robert Bohannon, a Durham, North Carolina, molecular scientist, has come up with. Bohannon says he's developed a way to add caffeine to baked goods, without the bitter taste of caffeine. Each piece of pastry is the equivalent of about two cups of coffee. While the product is not on the market yet, Bohannon has approached some heavyweight companies, including Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks about carrying it.

    Give up yr DNA!

Everything is a transitional form, wingnut, at least until something better suited to that particular environment comes along. Even if it already exists, it may take longer than your lifetime for it to become predominant. Notice how he uses "wingnut" - apparently for the purposes of discouraging anyone arguing with his flacid, unsubstantiated logic for fear that his namecalling will escalate, thus embarrasing said opponent. Uh, yeah, that's why I did it.....yeah, that's it.

  19. Personally, I'm all for legalization and taxation of all drugs, just like for alcohol. If Fairweather were here, I'd also note I don't use them myself and I don't teach children.....
  20. Maybe it's just me but I don't see a lot of boarders in the moguls. I'm no mogul expert though..... I do wish they'd get their fat bums out of the middle of the runs though. Can't you guys move off to the side to sit down in a group?
  21. Hey, now. Don't go spoiling a perfectly good conspiracy theory....

    Give up yr DNA!

Soon, they'll test all yer babies for congenital defects and that data will be tied into a national database searchable by the police. You won't be told, of course.
  23. Because big pharma wouldn't make such huge profits then and what would that do to political campaign contributions and the revolving door between Congress and industry? Madness!
  24. i was joking.
  25. I heard they make sleeping pads now. I asked about them the other day but when they asked me where I was from and I said 'Seattle' they stopped talking to me. Must have thought I was looking for terrorists or drug smugglers.
