  1. The problem with the Patriot Act is that it doesn't solve the human error problem, which is what got us into this mess. If the political higher ups at the FBI hadn't blown off their field personnel, we would probably have caught the goobers before they did anything. Now, if the PA included a clause that said "If you ignore your field people and something happens, you will be decapitated and your head will be placed upon a spike in the National Mall as an example to others"......
  2. At least we haven't lost our sense of humor. :-)
  3. Is that like the Batphone?
  4. Error puts Kennedy on airline no-fly list Print Print this article Search Search archive 0 WASHINGTON — The Senate Judiciary Committee heard this morning from one of its own about some of the problems with airline "no fly" watch lists. Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., says he had a close encounter with the lists when trying to take the U.S. Airways shuttle out of Washington to Boston. The ticket agent wouldn't let him on the plane. His name was on the list in error. After a flurry of phone calls, Kennedy was able to fly home, but then the same thing happened coming back to Washington. Kennedy says it took three calls to Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge to get his name stricken from the list. The process took several weeks, in all.

  6. time to call the old city council-person (or whatever they call themselves these days) and suggest it.
  7. Whatever happend to those "Speed limit enforced when lights are flashing" signs? Seems to me those are mostly in school zones. Or would those be clever?
  8. Don't know if I could do the 10b part. :-)
  9. Can't say I've ever seen anything in MEC that I couldn't get cheaper here.
  10. I have to admit, I'm not too happy with this idea. Then again, it's not like presidents and such haven't used our national parks to make political statements either (which is equally lame).
  11. He's got a point.
  12. Reminds me of the idea (a bad one) put forward at one time to place a rotating restaurant on the top of El Cap....
  13. Cheaper to produce does not always mean lower prices, just higher CEO salaries.
  14. And yet we elected George who also had a weak record of public service.....

  17. You think that's bad? I was listening some goober (from another country) on the radio once who was saying that since we have a disproportionate influence on world affairs, the rest of the world should be allowed to vote in our elections.

  19. i'm guessing the camels aren't the easy lays he was hoping they'd be
  20. Yes doobie. I know who Lenin is. I've been to Russia and am under no illusions. Did you notice how I said I thought it was stupid too or were you too much under the influence of PBR to notice?
  21. Missing ole Rick already are we Greg? :-) I don't worry too much about statues in people's neighborhoods when there are real issues to be dealt with. Personally, I feel it's their neighborhood, let them do what they want no matter how stupid it looks.
  22. Isn't that a bit much? Sounds like you are damning an entire city for someone putting a pink flamingo in their yard. Get out of Monroe much? It's not like that thing hasn't been there for years.
  23. Sweet. Something to bookend my David Hasselhoff collection.
