Down to a shirt, three jackets, and two pairs of gloves. The Cloudveil jacket is a Men's Small, so Medium-sized women would find it a great deal - this is my wife's jacket. The Rab jacket is a steal for the price. Like new - worn only for a few indoor events. And the Marmot jacket is a heavy-weight softshell - perfect for midwinter climbing or skiing for those who don't care for hoods.

Bump. I've split the sale up into multiple posts, and updated the prices to better sell. Everything here is at least 70% below what it would cost you in the store. Take advantage of it!

SOLD TO jacramer Lowe Alpine Summit Attack Pack 20L Another design that was decades ahead of its time, this pack was fast and light then and still is now. ¼ of a full length pad, folded into thirds, fits perfectly down the back. Its 20L size makes it the perfect summit pack. $20.00 Gregory Z65 Pack 64L, Size M (18”-20” back) Another one season pack, used for approximately 4 weeks. Fantastic for backpacking, ok for climbing, great for rough trails or cross-country work. Simply bigger than anything I need. You can buy this pack for $228.95 new ($270.55 with tax). $70.00 - 75% off retail! Summit Extrem Ski Tour Pack 55L, Size M/L A tip from a Korean ski client on Mt Vinson, this pack has seen one season of use – and that season was only 5 weeks long! It is lightweight, like-new, and has all the features you need for a technical ski mountaineering pack. This pack is similar in size to the Gregory Z65, but less is put into the suspension. I could ask for more but I don't need it – someone else should have it! $30.00

Wild Things Half Bag This bag has never been used – made with Epic fabric and Primaloft, this is rated to 30 deg., is 57” long, weighs 624g /1lb 6oz. When they did make this bag – and they don't anymore – it retailed $126.00 (that would be $137.97 with tax). $80.00 $50.00 - 60% below retail.

2010 Black Diamond Guru Skis - Price Reduced! 176cm, 123/75/106, 2.6kg (5lb 12oz) LINK to BD Site. I've used these skis one season, 10 days, in Antarctica. They are optimal ski mountaineering, big-tour boards, keeping the weight off of your feet and back during the uphill, but preforming awesome on steep slopes dor the down. They've been drilled once for a pair of Dynafit bindings, 310mm boot sole length (27-27.5 mondo, or 9.5-10.5 US men's). The weird pattern on the bases in the photo is the left-over wax from my summer storage tune. Gecko Skins – These “glueless” skins work surprisingly well, climb a skin track as bit as steep as your friend's but weigh ½ as much. Trimmed for the Guru skis, no tail attachment. LINK to Gecko Skins. BD Guru skis retail for $529.00 Gecko skins retail for $206.95 Total retail cost (with tax) $805.87 $375 for skis and skins. $345 - price reduced! SOLD 2009 K2 Backlash 181cm, 129/92/115 LINK to K2 Backlash page at Backcoutry.com. I'd argue that these dimensions are the best “quiver-of-one” ski out there. These skis can and have skied it all – big enough to ski powder effortlessly, stiff enough to plow through crusts and chunder, narrow enough to carve and hold an edge easily, but still light enough to use on a multi-day ski tour. These boards are no longer in production, having been replaced by the Sideshows. They retailed for $750 back in the day – a new pair of Sideshows cost $825. They're mounted with a pair of Dynafit TLT Speed (also called the TLT Classic) bindings, which was just discontinued at the end of 2010/2011 season and replaced with the TLT Speed Radical. Drilled for a 310mm boot sole (27-27.5 mondo, or 9.5-10.5 US men's). This binding has long been my favorite – incredibly light weight, but sturdy with the absolute minimum amount of plastic parts to break. This pair does have a chip missing from the plastic piece that holds the ski crampons, but still functions (I skied on them this way all last year). I couldn't find a pair of 2010-2011 TLT Speeds on the internet, but the new TLT Speed Radicals retail for $399.95. LINK to everything you could want to know about Dynafit bindings at Wildsnow.com. I also have a pair of BD Ascension Nylon STS Skins trimmed to fit. The glue is going bare in a few spots, but its nothing a little Gold Bond can't address. LINK to BD website and skins page. This has been my go-to board. I skied on powder days with people riding skis 30mm more underfoot and kept up, and skied Shuksan's NW Couloir in full powder-bullet-crust conditions. Its the closest thing I think there is out there to a quiver of one. BD Backlash Skis retailed for $750.00 ($825 if you were to buy new tomorrow). Dynafit TLT Speed Bindings retail for $399.95. BD Ascension Nylon STS Skins retail for $179.95. Total retail cost (with tax): $1456.24 - $1538.37 Total package here: $750.00 Black Diamond Quadrant Boot Size 27 (9.5 US Men's, 310mm boot sole length) Winner Backcountry Magazine's 2011 Editor's Choice, Powder Magazine's 2012 Skiers' Choice. LINK to BD site and Quadrant page. This is the boot that steered the skis listed above. To fit my 28.5 foot into a 27 boot, I replaced the Boa liners with a pair of Thermo-fit wrapped liners and volcano foot beds (a $400 value in itself) instead. These boots have skied California, Washington, BC, and Antarctica in the last two years. A few scuffs but they're still working strong and have a few more years left in them for sure. BD Quadrant Boots Retail for $688.76 ($1126.76 if you include the aftermarket liners and footbeds). $360.00.

Metolius – Black Diamond Quickdraws These have been sitting unused in my gear bin, and I'm sure there's someone who'd rather use them. Metolius dogbones, six 18cm long and four more 12cm long. Seven regular (not key) BD Positron straight gate carabiners. Ten regular (not ket) BD Positron bent-gate carabines. Aproximately 5 years old, never dropped, and I wouldn't sell these if I thought they were unsafe. I'm sure there's a struggling student or dirtbag who'd be psyched to get these and save some money for gas instead. I'd like to sell all 10 together. Looking online at BD's website, the closest retail match would cost $170.00 today. $34.00 - 80% below retail!

With: 1 picket (or ice axe or ski), 1 cordellete, 1 double shoulder length sling (usually dyneema), 1 shoulder length sling (usually dyneema), 1 short prussik, 3 non-locking carabiners, and 2 locking carabiners. I have, on a two man rope team arrested a fall, built an anchor, transferred the load from my harness to the anchor, rappelled to the victim, put them in a chest harness, taken their pack and/or skis, ascended the rope, built a 6:1 haul system, gotten them out of the crevasse. In less than 45 minutes. That's not a lot of kit for each person to carry. And, if you're on a four man team, that means you can afford to have each person carry everything above, and make crevasse rescue even easier!

Patagonia Pucker Shirt Size M Like new. Not much needs to be said - it looks good, dries quickly. Retails $59.00 ($64.61 with tax). $25.00 $19.00 - 70% below retail. SOLD TO earthnsurf Brooks Range Mountaineering Rock Shirt Size M LINK to BRM site and Rock Shirt page. Its a great shirt for fall rock climbing. Think old-school rugby jersey with fleece lining. Retails for $55.00 ($60.25 with tax). $20.00 $18.00 - 70% below retail. SOLD TO ScoutMan Patagonia R1 Hoody Size L LINK to Patagonia website and R1 Hoody page. Like new – no signs of wear. Retails for $149.00 ($163.16 with tax). $50.00 - 70% below retail. Cloudveil Jacket Size S Its old Cloudveil, before the sell-out, so you can be confident that its better made and more practical than designs that came out later. But its still in great condition. I have no idea what this jacket retailed for, so I'm pricing from Outdoor Research's Cirque Jacket, which retails for $145.00 ($158.78 with tax). $50.00 $40.00 - 75% below retail! SOLD TO king2005 Sherpa Shishapangma Jacket Size L Sherpa Adventure Gear writes, “Whether you’re climbing towards the windswept ridges of this jacket’s namesake mountain, or just out for a cool and breezy run, the Shishapangma provides the perfect balance of feather lightness, full wind protection, breathability, and moisture management. The four-way stretch fabric, articulation in the elbows and underarm gusseting all combine to enhance your freedom to move. Fast-absorbing, anti-microbial fabric keeps you feeling – and smelling – fresh. The zippered pockets (one on the sleeve and two for the hands) are just right for lip balm, ID, cash.” LINK to Sherpa Adventure Gear Another great piece, like new. It has a trim fit. No longer available for the winter, this jacket retailed for $108.95 ($119.30 with tax). $40.00 $35.00 - more than 70% below retail! Rab Vapour Rise Lite Jacket Size L LINK to Rab website and page. This is another like-new jacket, barely worn. More of a regular fit, and it retails for $129.95 (or $142.30 with tax). $45.00 $40.00 - more than 70% below retail! Marmot Sharp Point Jacket Size L Link to Marmot. Again, its like-new. Another regular fit, and retails for $250.00 ($273.75 with tax). $80.00 - more than 70% below retail! SOLD TO jacramer Vinson Jacket Size L This unique soft shell is in the same weight class as the Marmot Sharp Point Jacket listed above. It was custom made for a Korean Alpine Federation expedition to Mt Vinson, Antarctica. A tag inside says Gore-tex Paclite, but it doesn't have an official Goretex label outside. Features include a removable hood and pit zips. I'm assuming that is has a similar retail value to the Marmot jacket, and pricing accordingly. $80.00 $55 - more than 80% below retail! SOLD TO king2005 Montbell Ex Light Down Jacket Size L LINK to Montbell. A fantastic layer piece, or a light jacket on crisp clear days. Well worn, but with a lot of useful life left. Retails for $190 ($208.05 with tax) $45.00 $40 - more than 80% below retail! SOLD TO kevino Patagonia Puffball Sweater Size M The pre-quilted version of the Nano Puff, with the same traits. This one has no holes, worn out cuffs, or tears. Patagonia writes, “Windproof and water-resistant, the Nano Puff® Pullover is warm, incredibly lightweight, highly compressible and can be worn as insulation or outerwear in cold climates.” The Nano Puff retails for $149 ($159.16 with tax). $40.00. SOLD TO robpatterson5 Brooks Range Mountaineering Alpini Mountain Anorak Hoody Size L LINK to Brooks Range Mountaineering Worn once on Shuksan, so its practically new. Retails for $264.00 ($289.08 with tax). $90.00 SOLD TO chris54 The North Face Mountain Light Jacket – Shell only Size L LINK to The North Face This piece is the outer Hyvent lined, Goretex taped shell of the Mountain Light Triclimate Jacket, which I only wore to clear snow off my driveway in California. The full jacket retails for $330, so I'm basing my price on ½ of that - $165.00, or $180.68 with tax. This could be a great wet-weather skiing jacket for Snoqualmie Pass. $55.00 SOLD TO king2005 Marmot Scree Pants Size L LINK to Marmot. Never worn – still has the tags on! Retails for $100.00 ($109.50 with tax). $60.00 $33.00 - 70% below retail. SOLD TO jacramer Sherpa Himal Pants Size L LINK to Sherpa Adventure Gear. Another pair of pants that I've only worn a few times. They're great heavy weight softshells that are perfect for ice climbing or backcountry skiing. These retail for $115.00 ($125.93 with tax). $50.00 $38.00 - 70% below retail. Head Ski Gloves Size S Another basic ski glove that someone left in our house. Look like new, also have a velcro pocket for hand warmers on the back of the hand. “Outlast” on the cuff, “waterproof/breathable” on the tag. $15.00 $10.00 - this is a great deal! Black Diamond Patrol Gloves Size L These gloves are fantastic – they've been to Mt Vinson in Antarctica, ice climbing in Sichuan, and skiing on Mustagh Ata. They share a lot in common with the current model, like “Our take on the classic patroller work glove, the Black Diamond Patrol combines a stretch-woven nylon shell with durable goat leather for all-day utility and comfort. We added a 100% waterproof BDryTM insert to keep you dry on slushy spring days and PrimaLoft® One insulation and Polartec® Thermal Pro High Loft® fleece for toasty warmth.” Current model retails for $94.95 ($103.97) with tax). $45.00 $31.00 - 70% below retail. SOLD TO kevino Cloudveil Troller Gloves Size L “Ski patrollers everywhere depend on the Cloudveil Men’s Troller Glove for comfort, warmth, and durable protection on the mountain. From early-morning milk runs to after-hour sweeps, the Troller’s Super Steer water-resistant leather shell protects against dirt and moisture during hard use. The Cyclone stretch panel on top and Wraptor construction improve your dexterity for small tasks, while the leather palms help you keep a grip on poles or shovels. Fluffy PrimaLoft One insulation and 300-weight fleece lining wards off the early morning cold.” When Cloudveil was still headquartered in Jackson, these gloves were the bomb. This pair is starting to show its age with some wear around the thumb ends, but that's it. They retailed for $79.95 ($87.55 with tax). $20.00

I remember those days. Thanks for the heads up! It would be awesome if you also wrote up a quick conditions report afterwards. Thanks!

John Bachar died due to a fall while soloing fyi... http://climbing.about.com/b/2009/07/06/iconic-american-climber-john-bacher-killed-in-soloing-fall.htm He was doing it his way, like Honnold is. These climbers are pushing the limits their own way on their terms. I can respect that. Next time don't watch if it upsets you so... d Sorry, didn't type that clearly, I knew Bachar fell and died but the other two died but not from a fall. Hersey did. Fell off the Sentinel if I remember correctly.

An SPD police office makes, on average, 6 figures. So do the officers in the 7 other west coast cities closest to Seattle in size. They are not in the same income bracket. (Source, KUOW interview last month)
-
I noticed them a few weeks ago, and meant to ask some of my local friends if they knew what was up. Kurt, I know the crack you're speaking of, but I don't think its really optimal for a hauling scenario from that ledge. I'd be really nervous about someone beating on the bolts and damaging the threads if I took the hangers off.
-
Matt - can you give us dates, even ball park time of month, that the porta potties will be taken out again?
-
I hear you - I spent a lot of time climbing around Arcata while my then-girl friend was doing a clinical rotation on the Hoopa reservation. We didn't have too much trouble finding the goods, but it was always further than we expected. What I was surprised with was the cost for the guidebook. They wanted - and get - a lot of money for what was essentially a staple-back. So if anyone would like a previous edition for less than retail, let me know.

Updated to simplify the view. Cash or check for in person hand-offs, or Pay Pal for shipped items. Shipping is an additional $6-12.00, depending on volume. Just moved into a new house, and I'm taking the opportunity to clean out the closet again. This yard sale has clothing, packs, and a little bit of gear that ranges from barely used to absolutely beaten. What's most important is that I've tried to price items to move. If you think something is over-priced, send me a PM and we'll talk. None of my prices include shipping – and if you want it cheaper than what I'm asking, coming and getting it from West Seattle will make it more likely for you to get the price you want. Everything still works – all the zippers function, for example – and if you're willing to put up with some patches and faded fabric, you're going to get some sweet deals. And you are welcome to inspect anything when you pick it up (or if it arrives at your door step) and ask for your money back instead. Sorry – in order to save both of our valuable time, I ask that you pay first before I'll ship it. Cash or check is on a case by case basis. I prefer PM's and Pay Pal – I'll strike things out as sales are pending or completed. Here's the Yard Sale: SOLD TO schwe001 Wild Things Andinista LINK Arguably the pack that came with the modern alpinist light and fast ethic. This pack has faded a bit, and is worn in a couple of places, but still has a lot of life left. You can buy one new from Wild Things for $360.00 plus shipping, or almost 85% off. $60.00 Gregory Z65 Pack, 64L, size M (18”-20” back) Gregory LINK Backcountry.com LINK Another one season pack, used for approximately 4 weeks. Fantastic for backpacking, ok for climbing, great for rough trails or cross-country work. Simply bigger than anything I need. You can buy this pack for $228.95 new. Or here for almost 70% off... $70.00 Summit Extrem Ski Tour Pack, aprox 55L, size M/L A tip from a Korean ski client on Mt Vinson, this pack has seen one season of use – and that season was only 5 weeks long! It is lightweight, like-new, and has all the features you need for a technical ski mountaineering pack. This pack is similar in size to the Gregory Z65, but less is put into the suspension. It could make some a sweet alpine pack. I could ask for more but I don't need it – someone else should have it! $35.00 SOLD TO rloeh BCA Stash Pack LINK On of BCA's original products, the Stash Pack is still on the list. This is a great day-trip ski touring pack. I've used this pack hard for multiple seasons and it barely shows the wear. I did cut off the side straps (they got in the way of the zippers), so skis have to be mounted cross-ways, my preferred method. A new Stash Pack costs $99.99. 80% off. $20.00 PENDING SALE TO genepires Black Diamond Guide Gloves, Size Large. Fleece liner, gore-tex, seam-taped shell. Well-worn. You can get a new pair for $159.95, or buy these for more than 90% off! $15.00 SOLD TO bkb0000 North Face Montana Glove, size L A basic ski glove, with a zippered pocket on the back of the hand for hand warmers or whatnot. These retail for $60, and have never been worn. How about 75% off? $15.00 PENDING SALE TO genepires Head Ski Gloves, size S Another basic ski glove that someone left in our house. Look like new, also have a velcro pocket for hand warmers on the back of the hand. “Outlast” on the cuff, “waterproof/breathable” on the tag. $15.00 SOLD TO Woodcutter Wild Things Belay Parka, size L This is what a Climbing Magazine review said in issue #245, “With the famously harsh White Mountains as their test lab, it’s no surprise that Wild Things would produce one of the warmest parkas we tested, with six ounces of Primaloft insulation. The most no-frills jacket reviewed here, the Belay Parka ($285, two pounds, two ounces) has a generous cut (without being bulky); fitting it over other layers was never a problem. It has two outer pockets and one inner, as well as a tightly cut, chest-height inner mesh water bottle pocket. The hood is easy to adjust, but tended to fit a bit snug over a Petzl Elios helmet; a more generous cut would help. The Epic shell fabric proved the most water resistant among all the jackets and is sewn together with a minimum of seams.” Wild Things is completely overhauling its clothing line, and this jacket is no longer available. My version fits fine over the helmets I've worn with it. I did burn the sleeve and patched it with rip-stop tape. This jacket will still keep someone warm. Almost 80% off. $60.00 SOLD TO schwe001 Patagonia Micro Puff Hooded Jacket, size L LINK Another great belay parka – you could find me in this jacket at almost every ski break, every evening in camp, or whenever I was on the dull end of the rope. This one has some wear at the cuffs and a nick on one shoulder but that's it! New for $229.00, I'm giving it away at almost 70% off. $70.00 PENDING SALE TO SWH Patagonia Puffball Hooded Jacket, size L The Micro Puff Hooded Jacket for sale above replace this one, an old classic that has patches on the sleeve, hip, and back. Its been well worn, but still has some value to someone who needs some insulation and doesn't care about looking rough. Like above, you could buy a new one for $229.00, or you could get this one for for than 85% off. $35.00 b]Sherpa Khangri Hooded Jacket, size L [/b]LINK This jacket was a great alpine soft shell with a trim fit. Long enough to tuck under the harness, and great sleeves for full-reach-over-the-head moves. Not sure what this jacket retailed for, so I'm asking for more than 80% off current equivalents. $40.00 Patagonia Men Guide's Jacket, size M LINK This piece only saw ½ a season of use before I replaced it with the Sherpa Khangri above. Its still a great coat. Just enough fabric to block the wind and provide a little bit on insulation without over-doing it. It looks like new – which would cost $149.00. How about 70% off? $45.00 SOLD TO ColinB Rab Kinetic Jacket Backcountry.com LINK This Pertex jacket is no longer in production and can be found on sale at backcountry.com. It is a great ultra-lite weight rain piece. The jacket weighs only 9oz or 255gm. Pair it up with the Kinetic Pants for sale below, and you have an awesome completely waterproof system for the “oh shit”moments in the mountains. On sale for $104.00. +70% off. $30.00 PENDING SALE TO genepires Patagonia Rubicon Pants, size L LINK Worn one season, these pants don't show it. They are freakin' BURLY. They do have ventilation zippers, making them great for sidecountry missions. And completely waterproof with Patagucci's H2No – an absolute must here. Retails for $249.00. Yours for 70% off. $75.00 SOLD TO Alex Cloudveil Symmetry Pant, size 36 Before they sold out, Cloudveil made some of the best frontcountry and sidecountry ski clothing, hands down. The Symmetry Pant was a soft shell made with a wool-like blend. It is a fantastic pant for the ski area and the sidecountry. Warm enough to wear mid-winter, but still breathable enough on warm spring days. You can still find them listed on close-out online for prices from $73 - $129.00, and I just want someone to get to use them! $40.00 SOLD TO zeroforhire Patagonia Men's Rock Guide Pants, size 34 LINK Softshell, worn one season, and in great shape. They retail for $79.00, but you can have them for almost 70% off. $25.00 SOLD TO ColinB Rab Kinetic Pants, size L Waterproof with Pertex, these pants complement the Kinetic Jacket I have for sale above. Features include an elastic drawstring waist and 1/2 zips up the legs. They weigh in around 250gm too. $30.00 Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag. LINK Some wear – but still waterproof. Great for tooling around town. Big enough for a laptop and textbooks. Retails for around $79.00. 75% off. $20.00 SOLD TO myuhnke33 Silveretta 404 Ski Bindings Wild Snow 1ST LINK 2ND LINK Reality check. I bought these years ago expecting to use them to approach climbs. That happened exactly once. I always expected to re-mount them, but have simply found I'd rather go climbing in ski boots than skiing in climbing boots. I know some of you have the reverse opinion, so they're yours! Original screws included. $80.00 PENDING SALE TO Buckaroo Black Diamond Alpine Bod Harness, size S Worn on precisely one three-week expedition in China, this harness is like-new. Retails new for $37.95, but you can have it for 60% off. $15.00 SOLD TO bkb0000 Charlet Moser Ice Axe, 55cm A little shorter and heavier for a better swing, this axe deserves to be in the hands of someone young, poor, and desperate for gear. That's why its only... FREE SOLD TO OR Retired Rope, 20-30m lengths, 3 pieces If someone has a need for it, its yours. It no one does, it will probably be going to the trash. FREE

I had great success simply writing a letter apologizing for forgetting, including my pass, and asking for forgiveness. Worked every time. Make a copy of everything for yourself before sending it off.

This is my first full summer in the Cascades in 7 years, and I'm surprised by how many people I've seen having late starts to big alpine objectives. From the North Cascades all the way down to Mt Hood, I've seen some ridiculous late starts. Anyone else?
