  1. I'm in on this. Finally, a drinking event I can walk to!
  2. Climb Max for $130, but it was the only one (of the Khan Tengri VIP) they had. I saw some lighter Bask down jackets there, and they had some Bask mittens too. My biggest gripe is that the zipper slider is on the wrong side. I'm not sure if I got a women's model or if it's a russian thing, but it fits so I don't care. I may just have the zipper replaced.
  3. Any chance of getting some Portland shops to put deals up?
  4. if he's not selling them, what's the problem?
  5. Don't listen to the person who says "don't get digital". The advantage of digital is that it doesn't cost $.25 or $.50 every time you click the shutter. The quality really isn't that bad; I had 24 of my 2 MP images blown up to 6x8, and they look spectacular. It's a little frustrating that some of those pictures are only 2.0 MP, but it's a lot easier to get out the digital while climbing than deal with the SLR. My friend has an S400, and that is a *sweet* camera. If I didn't already have a digital, that's definately the one I'd get.
  6. Hell, I just got the Kahn Tangri VIP for Denali. I found a deal I couldn't pass up on it. I'll post a report on it in June.
  7. Now there's a good suggestion! If you (or anyone else) want to go during the week, drop me a line.

"barley pop"... I like that term
  11. These are some good links. Any way to get a sticky on this thread? Photography seems to be a recurring topic.

  13. Probably. I've been out west for over two years now, so I've forgotten the local weather patterns 'round these parts.
  14. It sounds to me like Colden Dike = Trap Dike. Ahhh, the memories. It's been like 50 degrees here recently, would there still be ice there? (I'm visiting the 'rents in MA, and I don't have my climbing stuff with me, so I haven't been paying attention.)
  15. are you sure that's snow you're talking about?
  16. trask, you've been a carrier since you started posting on this board. you have nothing to worry about.
  17. I just burned all my digital photos from this past year onto CD's, and I'm leaving them at my parents house in MA. It's not bombproof, but it's redundency. I figure that I'll replace them in about 5-10 years once a new storage medium is available.
  18. A few weeks ago, the Northeast was getting hammered by snow. I fly to Boston, and not only is all the snow gone, but it's 50 degrees out. Now I find out that it's snowing in Portland. Oh well, I hope it sticks around until Tuesday, I've always wanted to go x-c skiing around Hoyt.
  19. ug, must avoid going to sleep until I sober up...
  20. When was everyone on Hood? I went up it on the 22nd, I didn't leave the parking lot until after noon and caught the sunset from the summit. Playing chicken with a snow cat while glissading on the way down was fun too (needless to say, I chickened out first.)
  21. Ball Butte?
  22. $203 RT gets me to Providence, RI on Delta (cheaptickets.com) 200 clams to frankfurt could be worth some splurging... I need to find out how much I'll be gettin' for unemployment, then I can figure out if I could do it. And if I could do Mexico cheap, I'd climb Pico. Anyone else interested?
  23. don't forget the gaiters!
  24. I just looked at greyhound and amtrak, and it would be cheaper to fly across the country, thus the reason I'm looking to hop freight trains.
  25. 3 years old? holy crap! Wasn't the youngest in the club like 6 or so before that?
