    fahrenheit 9/11

I just went to asshat.org, and this quote is particularly painful: "Iraqis are sick of foreign people coming in their country and trying to destabilize their country, and we will help them rid Iraq of these killers." -- George W. Bush, this past week, to Al Arabiya television (http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/09/opinion/09DOWD.html) ******* If anyone has a NYTimes subscription, what's the context? Oh, and I can understand how some of the things in the movie could be taken out of context, but overall, Moore definately has a point. Secret Service guarding the Saudi embassy?
  2. however, a corporate pre-nup that can really screw the individual... "we retain rights to anything you come up with, even on your own time using no ideas gained from us or using any of our resources". I always read those carefully.
  3. yes, but the date of climb according to the header at the top of your post is June 15, which is a Tuesday, and you mentioned bailing on the climb on Sunday. At this point I'm assuming that you just had trouble with the TR system.
  4. So did you actually climb? It says you climbed today, but there's no mention of it in your TR.

    Free Cone Day

... at Ben and Jerry's today. Just a friendly reminder.
  6. Ahhh, club day. Really brings back the memories... The EMS at Crossgates overflowing with people. Long lines at the register. My friend convincing the salesman that if a pair of $150 sunglasses were in the glass case, they were 50% off...
  7. Yeah, but it fits the store
  8. Can you let us know how good the altimeter is?
  9. billcoe, what part of town do you live in?
  10. I doubt that Bonaza would be too high on the list. As it's over 9,000 ft (not to mention the highest non-glaciated peak in WA), it'll be on a lot more people's lists than a peak under 9,000 feet.
  11. does Trogdor the Burninodder use steaksauce?
  12. It's actually the 21st and 22nd (Wednesday and Thursday). And they're having it at the Baghdad this year. Info here: link The tickets are on sale at both REI's here in PDX. Considering that you're supposed to return every item, I wonder what they'd say if I tried to return my tickets after the show....
  13. I was kinda wondering if was involved...
  14. so you climbed this tomorrow?
  15. I just picked up my Galena yesterday. Certainly not the thickest of polarguard jackets, but I wasn't expecting it to be. This will be great for times when the DAS Parka would be overkill. It's along the lines of the Moonstone Cirrus. I still haven't been able to find out online how much it weighs, and it doesn't say so on the tags. (I really gotta get me a small scale.)
  16. The North Face is a climbing store?
  17. I have to adjust the volume on my RioRiot depending on what method I'm using to get the information into my car stereo. If I'm using a cassette adapter, I have it at 50% (where I've been told it's best to have it, and it jives with the radio volume as well). If I use an FM transmitter, I need to bump it up to 80 or 85%. It sounds fine with the FM transmitter (again, same volume as the other radio stations), but when I switch back to my cassette adapter with the RioRiot volume at 80%, it's way distorted. Upping the volume to 100% with the FM transmitter yields the same distortion. I kinda wish my volume went louder on the RioRiot (without the distortion), because I reach a limit with my stereo when I can no longer turn it up, and sometimes you just gotta listen to stuff just a little louder.
  18. Everything I've read about the G3's is that their glue was inferior until they improved it this winter, and now they're on par with the other good skins out there. I think I'll prolly go with the glidelites, there's just something cool about the cowprint.
  19. I know, I was kidding. The bite turned purple for a few days, but a little bit of research yeilded that it's a normal response to the western black legged tick bite. Taken from this tick page I found:
  20. I went hiking on top of Coyote Wall in the Columbia River Gorge, and found a half-dug-in tick underneath my armpit on the way home. I got it out, but the bite mark looked funny for quite a few days. Anyone know what a bulls-eye rash means? <j/k>
  21. TLG, did you get your G3's yet? If so, what do you think?
  22. One of my friends in PMR has spoke of a LARGE slab directly down the hogsback before. (Somewhere between 6 and 9 feet deep.) Extremely rare? Well, yes, but the way I see it, sometimes it's just not worth climbing.

    MSDS

I was going to try and recreate the MSDS for chocolate that my friend's were making up back in college, but it would pale in comparison!
