  1. REI uses Schoeller Dynamic in their pants. Having said that, I have a pair, and I love them. I got the Buckskin color (tan), and I wore them all summer while climbing. I have a black pair of dynamic pants that I wear in the winter. They pill up a little, but it's not bad (and is to be expected). I'd say go for it.
  2. and it's even not bad for work!
  3. ummm... no what kind of screwed up math are you using?
  4. Tex, I may be able to accomodate. When did you want to leave, and where in PDX are you?
  5. some people have been complaining about Salomon's lacing system, but I for one love it. I've never had it come loose on me unintentionally, it's super easy to tighten and loosen, and being Kevlar, the laces are super strong.
  6. It's a loop, you start and end at the same place (at least that's what I was assuming.)
  7. Chalk up one more who's willing to transport refreshment of the liquid variety from Portland to Smiffy on Friday night... although it sounds like there's already enough help.
  8. or the Coalition for Liberation of Itinerate Tree-dwellers??
  9. Last a checked, Climb Max had a stack of Oregon Highs lying around. The book has stuff I haven't seen in any other books. Climb Max is on SE Division at 20th or so.
  10. I'll be there Friday and Saturday nights.
  11. if they're saying "November" and they're using contractors (of course), me thinks January is being optimistic...
  12. Like someone pointed out, the cyclists did do something about it. But it also seems that this station crossed the line, even for a shock jock. encouraging physical harm against cyclists should be punishible by spending time in a federal "pound me in the ass" prison...
  13. I don't know if it's changed, but a law went into effect when I was there. It didn't prohibit using a cell phone while driving, but it did require you to use a headset. In other words, you can no longer hold the phone up to your head. Not a solution but a step in the right direction.
  14. or perhaps a conspiracy theorist would claim this is planned obsolencence....
  15. I just added the time/place/contact info... thanx, I posted pre-coffee...
  16. cc.com porn stash? Timm@y, have you been holding out?!
  17. I've been pretty happy with my Salomons (I know they're owned by Adidas, but the stuff seems to be different enough.) They've lasted for well over a year, and I expect to get at least 1/2 year if not a full year more out of them.
  18. Come to the Mazamas Discovery Night at Bridgeport Brewing! There will be short presentations from our activity committees explaining what they do, and a slide show with pictures from all kinds of Mazama trips showing throughout the evening. Come talk with experienced leaders, sign up for events, learn about our classes, and see what the Mazamas are all about!* * Disclaimer: we do not all wear shorts over polypro and gaiters, and don’t always travel in packs of 12, contrary to popular belief. Wednesday, October 22nd, 7:00 pm Bridgeport Brew Pub, 7:00 pm 1313 NW Marshall, Portland Contact info: 503-227-2345 http://www.mazamas.org/
  19. A radio station in Boston had a contest to give away "A hundred grand" When they finally got the right caller, they said he'd won and he was ecstatic until they told him he'd won a candy bar. What I don't get is, where do these people think the money for these prizes comes from? Small fanfare for a big giveaway is *always* too good to be true. If these people would actually think for not even a second, they'd realize that there's some sort of catch. The entity giving away the prize will be looking for some sort of payback greater than the prize they are giving away. Giving away $100,000 dollars would be a really big deal, much larger than it was played up to be on that radio station.
  20. here's another vote against sprint. I drop calls all the time, even in the city. As soon as my contract is up, I'll switch. I was under the impression that AT&T had the best coverage, but that was just an impression not based on actual data. Sounds like Verizon is the ticket. (As for coverage outside of the PNW, Verizon seems to have the best coverage in the Northeast.)
  21. uh, no. they only mentioned they were mountaineers when the offered to let us go ahead of them, that's how we found out. Get some new stereotypes
  22. oops, that would be a Mondayism.... I think I need
