    Cascade Joe

Maybe Cascade Joe is Alpine Fred's climbing partner
  7. Good to see you got a climb in. 3 of us tried Friday, wouldn't you know the only day last week it was crappy weather. We backed off due to visibility, and seeing the new snow sluff down the face. Off by one day, but that's the way it goes. Hope the conditions hang around for a couple more weeks and we get another go.
  8. I like my Montrails, they are wide and lots of rubber on the toe for alpine rock routes. I have several hundred miles on them, a dozen alpine rock climbs, a few glacier climbs, they've held up well. I'll give Dave a try and see what happens. Might be better off buying new.
  9. I've gotten to where I carry two. Obviously one use is for a full mechanical SRENE anchor. I use them to sling big rocks for belaying. One is full 20' spectra, the other 15' 6mm cord which is actually lighter then a double sling.
  10. Quick sell it to Dylan for 1/2 price
  11. When you have knees as old as mine, they only have so many descents left in them. It's not a matter of training them to handle the load down, it just they are plum worn out !
  12. Where can you get them? Any pictures? $$?
  13. I've been pleased with my Mt Hdw parka and bibs, they've gotten a lot of use. Problem was I could only afford the parka one year and the bibs the next. I haven't bought anything else of their brand. I do see a lot of their other stuff showing up on Sierra Trading Post, maybe they overplayed their brand and made too much of a bunch of stuff nobody wanted? But I still like my parka!
  14. Drop her on a belay. Don't let her ledge out, just scare her a bit. Say "Oops, sorry, did you see that guy over there on the 5.9? "
  15. Bravo Uncle Tricky !
  16. Where is the best place to resole mountaineering boots in the Seattle area? (I tried searches and FAQ, nothing in this site). I have a pair of Montrails that are just plain worn out. Thanks
  17. Work on a route that is not at your maximum ability. If you can lead 5.9 most of the time but not consistently complete, then get on a 5.6 which is well within your ability, gives you time to contemplate your surroundings, allows to you try holds and back off. Search for different holds. On many routes there are harder holds that can be tried, you can bypass the lower rated ones once you gain confidence. You don't have to climb at your max ability all the time, paricularly when leading. Good luck!
  18. What happened to the big pics? These are so little now I can't make out a thing. I wanted to show my kids where you guys tunneled through the cornice, that is a great pic, except I can't see it!! Bring the big pics back please?
  19. All in all, a good site gapertimmy, you guys do a great job!
  20. That is rich
  21. Wow, best comment I've seen from someone with over 1,500 posts
  22. What a cute baby picture Trask! Forget what they say in the other forums about you, you are cute!
  23. Everett does the whole class at one time up Si? I thought other Mountie branches put on conditioners like climbs, limited to 12, usually less, and did other locations besides Si?
  24. Ooh, that hurts!
