Til Broad Daylight on 3:00 Rock has been on my list for some time. Dirt Circus P2 is also a good pitch with crap bolts.

Ahh Jason- So sorry to hear. I really like your dog.

Trip: Big 4 - Direct Tower route Date: 8/28/2011 Trip Report: Headed up yesterday with a couple friends. The wet spring/early summer helped the devil's club grow to nearly Jurassic proportions. The ferns were head high, and unseen tripping hazards consisted of marmot sized snaffle slugs native to the northern side of the massif. Needless to say, it was a wee wet on the first pitch, surprising given the calendar date. Pitch 2 was dispatched with some huffing and puffing by yours truly, and the somewhat runout pitch 3 was climbed in excellent style by FAer Mr Packard with nary a whimper. We were stopped at this point by considerable wetness, and decided to rap. Overall, a great day with great friends! Sorry no pix Gear Notes: Full rack to 4.5" on P1, P5, P6, P7 Approach Notes: Cushy highway trail to traverse out east of the ice caves. Typical jungle crawl we know and love

Nice TR Off- I love conglomorock and cobble stomping, so I guess I'll have to finally get down there- MH -
 Sorry to hear that B-Having climbed (and fallen) on much of the old gear out there, your efforts are appreciated. I would be more than happy to donate some replacement gear if need be... MH

[TR] Squire Creek - Search for the Holy Grail 7/11/2011
hanman replied to OlympicMtnBoy's topic in North Cascades
Ha Ha- The buttonhead in the block was from the somewhat tricky and time consuming removal of said block off the route. We had a bunch of bivy gear straight below and didn't want to trash everything in it's path. Glad you liked the route- definitely one of my favorites! MH -
Well I would have hoped it would at least stay together for a few more weeks
-
Just a heads up.... The big scar on the Blueberry route has gotten significantly larger last week, with a 20 foot new section missing below. P1 through the lower P3 of DR may have some fixed gear wiped. Kind of freaky, we were just up there 2 weeks ago... MH

You might PM Vert (Mark Hauter). He lived in Oregon and recently moved to Texas- lots of wind tech experience.

I have been several times and find it's well worth the 8.5-9 hour drive from my locale. My favorite area in the NW other than Darrington (20 miles from my doorstep). Thanks to Dave, Hauter, Steve, and the crew for those great pitches. If I could only talk my girl into moving to LaGrande or thereabouts.... MH

Tyson- 1st you have some work along those lines at Squire Creek. The looming bear menace is significant indeed. MH

[TR] Exfoliation Dome-Darrington - Dark Rhythm 6/22/2011
hanman replied to hanman's topic in North Cascades
Yes- you can drive to the base of the sidewalk. A couple minutes with a chainsaw would clear the wash to the camping spot. -

The shades are not prescription. However, I do see things a lot more clearly in Rock mode. -
Trip: Exfoliation Dome-Darrington - Dark Rhythm Date: 6/22/2011 Trip Report: Riley81 and I took a nice day out yesterday to commemorate the road opening. We took Dark Rhythm to the summit and descended Westward Ho. Nope, crux pitch has not gotten any easier despite several months of waiting in the dark rainy caverns of my office complex.... Replaced a couple hangers on DR, WH is intact and a very straightforward rap. Darrington Rocks M. Hanna

[TR] Banks Lake - Orange Wall Area camping 6/2/2011

Unfortunately, my wonderful family is quite used to being in the drink whenever I get within about 20 feet of any water craft. It's appears to be my signature and impending legacy. They are strong for sure MH -

Wow Rainman- Those snow totals for the cirque are just crazy. Don't think we've ever seen a CORNICE on Roan. Looks like we may be snow caving it this year

Hey all- anyone have a small outboard they would be willing to rent me? Planning a boat in to some remote Banks Lake stuff and have a small aluminum boat, motor would be cadillac and make the wifey happier.... Seattle and north- M.Hanna
