Howdy! Is anyone planning on doing the Pacific Rim Half Marathon on August 7th? I will be and was just checking to see if anyone else is. It does the 5 mile drive at Point Defiance and then heads down to the waterfront. A darned scenic route! I'm NO speed demon but prob will be slugging it out at about a 9 min mile...basically looking for a chill run. Drop me a PM or a post if yer interested in hooking up for it! PacRim

Killer reference pages! Many thanks! Bingo!

Not related directly but these are some interesting shots from the slopes of Mt Charleston, outside of Las Vegas. Info

Excellent! Thanks all! I have noticed quite a few Orchids this year. I'm not sure why, maybe I am just more alert or perhaps its a climatic thing. I will have to head back up to the Bobs to see if the blooms are indeed the plant. It was in the area before the cutoff to Amazonia...just past a section of the trail that passes to the right of a strange, duff and dead tree covered knob. Kudos and thanks for the info and input all!
-
Ricardo: It wasnt blooming yet but was close. Here is another attachment with another perspective, it includes a flowerstalk but only buds. dukiebird : Thanks for the link, that looks like a great reference, i'm gonna grab that one as it sounds quality. Klenke! Thanks for your input, looks similar but I dont think thats the plant, this was in dark forest, in moist duff. It was distinctive enough to catch my eye as something I dont usually see, hence the inquiry. 3-4" in diameter and 1-2' tall

Cool link bwr! Thanks! Also thanks everyone else for info!

Does anyone have a link to a great or decent online Northwest native plant web page? On my way up to Bobs at x38 I noticed this small plant ( Hugs the ground and is about 3-4 inches in diameter), the leaf design is fairly striking, it was the ONLY one seen on this trip and unique for me. I cant seem to locate a decent reference.a If anyone can name it off the top of their head that would be cool. It sends up a center shoot with flowers ( none were in bloom) Please see attachment for the marginal shot

Wow, I guess times have changed. Seems the bulk of the Kommunity has moved a little too far too the right in recent years for my taste and the increase of internal conflict withing the Kommunity is a direct reflection on this "changing" of the guard. But as in all mainstream sports, corruption does occur. BTW; I really dont have any specific political leaning but if pressured I tend to move towards oncoming traffic...not towards the ditch.

You are correct sir, I was actually wondering if there were any "other" issues involving the fires that might reach beyond the Icicle and affect Tumwater canyon and CR.
-
Just a quick hit after looking at the icicle fire info, is Castle Rock in any way affected? Was gonna take a beginner friend up tomorrow for some pitches. If it's closed we'll prob head for the Tieton. Any info would be sweet! Thanks in advance!

Yes! Everyone within the climbing community must think as one. Only through focused, uniform thought can we reach nirvana! Anyone who dares dissent shall be taught a good lesson. Yeah, Yeah! I was generalizing in a specific manner for this general board membership. I guess I was thinking too specifically and in doing so I alienated specific views that might be considered valid in certain circles.
-
Anyone in the climbing community who has a problem with gays or "diversity" related topics and feels the need to resort to juvenile spray regarding those topics deserves to learn a good lesson in balance and respect. I applaud distel for standing up for what he believes to be fairness for all. More peeps need ot just say NO to ignorance.

Most definitely they do make a difference, I agree! My main intended point was so many folks are eager to jump on the ethics bandwagon without realizing how hypocritical or naive they might be based on what their overall assessment of their current position and lifestyle might be. I was a vegan for 10 years...until I realised the error of my ways. I now eat more meat than vegetables. Lesson learned; Meat does taste better than tvp. ...and I still own my Buckwheat filled meditation cushion. Obviously we are beginning to see some minor thread drift which is a horrid developement and I for one apologise emphatically for my participation. My ultimate jist for this thread is to just be open, have fun and treat others as you expect to be treated.
-
If we lived our lives and made product purchases based on a premise that didnt harm or infringe upon other people or the environment....we'd be sitting lotus position on our Buckwheat filled meditation cushion. Every modern choice we make comes at a cost to someone or something. So put on your petroleum based/slave labor jacket and get out there and have some fun instead of worrying about it. We all die sometime. Save a tree, choke a whale.

Its a nifty variation of the camming device. I'll reserve my opinions till I at least try them out. Sure, I will invest in a couple, just as I invested in those freaky TCU's when they first came out, despite their "one fall" capability back in the day. People poo poo'd index shifting...as an unneeded variation over friction shifting. Jesus you dicks, be a little more open and just accept the information as interesting and an addition to what you already know. Obviously most of you know it already so why even bother posting some smart fucking ass comment that dosent add to the thread already. Give your spraying and shit talking a break once and awhile. You all are as bad as the ignorant pricks on RC.com K... nuff said, now fuck OFF!

Did a search but nothing detailed. Been climbing up at Static Point alot...I was just wondering if those slabs up the drainage near "Bushwhack/Abutment" have seen any action? Id be wholly game to go exploring if not and anyones down for some slog time.

IMHO a little too "perfect". Flawless and bland features drop points for uniqueness...generic lips...eyes...face... yeah I think reality and diversity
