i have worked for 2 companies that provided a few hours to go vote. i think it's a great thing and more companies should offer it. small perk but a useful one. i just love the idea that my vote is going to cancel out some right wingnut's

has anyone in WA received their absentee ballot yet? i got one weeks ahead for the primary but haven't received on for the general election

i think there's so much variability in grades from place to place and route to route that it's hard to compare 5.8 jump to 5.9 and 5.10a to 5.11a. recently i've glided up some 5.8 pitches and then climbed a 5.8 that had me whimpering for my mom. a few days after that enjoying some 5.10a and 5.9 pitches. no matter how you want to try and quantify it in your own mind, there is no way to avoid the subjectivity in grades.

greg, he may have added some very good insight into the situation in iraq (which i appreciated). He let his own personal agenda run away with him. (no i'm not talking politics) I cannot fathom why you and fairweather seem so intent on putting this off on political views. it's not about that. if that were the case you'd have been gone for good long ago. so would fairweather for that matter.

buy a rope. you bring the rope, let your partner bring the rack. you can try out lots of different gear that way then decide and make expensive mistakes. buy nuts first. hard to go wrong there. i like tri-cams, maybe not a good choice for an early piece though. they can be tricky to place. hard to go wrong with hexes either. just my $0.02

ryland- i was going to handle this via PM but it seems that this would be more appropriate given your tone. i'll post in my capacity as a moderator when i think it's appropriate. in truth, i find that spray doesn't need much moderating. no one seems to care about the little bit i do which means it's working right. so yeah most of the time i do stfu and moderate. today, h/e, i am posting on this thread. being a moderator here doesn't require that i don't post. you'll note that most days i don't post much. some days if i have some free time and i'm feeling fiesty i will. deal with it. i try not to engage in controversial things in forums in which i have moderation powers. as for how much and when i'll climb. that's my problem not yours. that's all the justification i'm doing today. see ya.
