  1. How about a chalupa?
  2. The next thing you know someone will mention Molly Ringwald again. Doh.
  3. I think we covered this topic before. The conspiracy theorists are full of hooey. Their arguments don't stand up to any sort of scrutiny. Buried in "The New Rome by Osama bin Laden" thread
  4. Harry_Pi is steppin' out, into the limelight.
  5. Dude, there are a lot of people who don't know what you are serious about and what is merely role playing. Hell, I don't.

  7. Is this the same Charlotte Fox who climbed Everest in 1996?
  8. Nice TR. Congratulations, good job.
  9. So if you want to try out hybrids, which size would you try first. PMS carries the two smallest, black/blue and blue/green. I would have thought the green/yellow would get used the most.
  10. My answer: "You're damn straight, and you can also use the open pit mines and strip mines".
  11. Seems like a rational marketing decision to me. They looked at what sizes sold the most and found it was the yellow and red. They said, "I'll bet everyone who owns a yellow and red will go out and buy one of these". If you already own a double set, you might not, but owners of single sets might buy one. I probably will.
  12. I would suppose that you would have to change the material from aluminum to brass to get the required strength. The harder material would reduce the tendency to get stuck. A small recess on either side of the piece would make it easier to use a chock pick to free a tricam.
  13. The FF folks are like anybody. If you act friendly, they'll be friendly back. Also, they are curious creatures, just like their customers, and I'll bet they get plenty bored at times too. They don't sell a lot of pins, so they must have figured you were going to do something really interesting.
  14. I'd have to agree with this statement. We all have our good reputations to defend, haven't we?
  15. My only bad experience at FF was the time I put a $10 deposit on an Avy Transceiver that I wanted to rent later. I came in to pick it up at the agreed upon time and they had rented it out to someone else. I had to go out and buy one at the last minute. I did not soon forget that experience. All the other times I've visited I've received good and friendly service. Tod was very helpful when I had questions about resoling rock shoes.

Quick. We need someone to Photoshop a hooded robe onto Ashcroft! It's not just a passing resemblance.
  17. Mercy, you have cut me to the quick.

  19. You got that right. The US is a gerontocracy.
  20. Forgive a naive question, but what is the function of the nose on the biner? I presume it is to reduce the chance that the gate will be opened by pressing against the rock?
  21. I didn't mean it to be bitchy. Let me rephrase my question. Is there anywhere that is not acceptable to take beginners? Dru, there are definitely people out there with natural athletic ability who can get up 5.10 on their first try. More power to them. I just get the impression that some guys get an ego boost by telling their friends how hard their beginner was able to climb.
  22. What is my attitude? I didn't bitch or complain to anyone. We got along great with all the other climbers there and everyone had a great time. Rather than wait in line and stew, we just moved on to a different climb that was open. No problem. Saber is a route that you would expect to find first time climbers on. Anyone who would bitch about a slow party on that one needs an attitude adjustment.
  23. I never noticed any poison ivy. If it was there I would have broken out in a rash by now.
  24. I think it was Mark Twain who popularized it, but it's been around a very long time.
