I didn't see this post till now, but that was great watching you flow up there (doing the extra one for Bryon) with 4 cocktails in ya! For the boards info: Sean found my shovel wandering though the vertical jungle out there on the class 4 in between Bill's Buttress and Video Bluff. The dudes must have trundled some rocks and then winged the thing over the cliff. BTW, theres still broken glass showing up, the number to call to report Russian's drinking at the top is 503-823-3333. These people drink their beer and slam the glass down on the rock and over the cliff. If anyone even sees them sitting up there and drinking peacefully please just call the number and report them, as far as I can tell, there is no chance to get them to change their ways short of that. Last time Sean and I saw 2 couples we talked over this issue with them, they assured us that they picked up bottles, blah blah, then threw the bottles below to shatter when they finished. We were down below and heard them. 503-823-3333

Nice! Thanks muchos for the invite Bryan. Since Dwight's name came up earlier in the summer I've been getting pre-occupied with my own mortality. Might just be a middle age thing though. BTW, I bought the guidebook, and I love the fact that you all used his notes to put the book together, but thought a better intoduction/memorial would have been better. Good deal that SAR got to split up his gear. Damn that Dwight was a Mensch! You're following in his footpath too. Later Gater! Be burley but be safe out there in Big Sky country. I never told Dwight how much I enjoyed his company, but I'm telling you now. Thanks for just being around.

See you next year dude, but I gotta say this since by way of a good-by you snagged a prime line without me and all I got was a great Trip report out of it: it was a great pleasure to have made your aquaintance. Really. Stay in touch, we'll do an extra laps up Phylynx in your honor tonight.

Discuss: ? "Psycho killer raccoons terrorize Olympia 1 hour, 6 minutes ago "OLYMPIA, Washington - A fierce group of raccoons has killed 10 cats, attacked a small dog and bitten at least one pet owner who had to get rabies shots, residents of Olympia say. ADVERTISEMENT Some have taken to carrying pepper spray to ward off the masked marauders and the woman who was bitten now carries an iron pipe when she goes outside at night. "It's a new breed," said Tamara Keeton, who with Kari Hall started a raccoon watch after an emotional neighborhood meeting drew 40 people. "They're urban raccoons, and they're not afraid." Tony Benjamins, whose family lost two cats, said he got a big dog — a German Shepherd-Rottweiler mix — to keep the raccoons away. One goal of the patrol is to get residents to stop feeding raccoons and to keep pets and pet food indoors. Lisann Rolle said she began carrying an iron pipe when she goes outside at night after being bitten by raccoons when she tried to pull three of them off her cat Lucy. She obtained rabies shots afterward as a precaution. "I was watching her like a hawk, but she snuck out," Rolle said. "Then I heard this hideous sound — a coyote-type high pitch ... It was vicious. They were focused on ripping her apart." The attacks have been especially shocking because raccoons came within five feet (1 1/2 meters) of cats without any problem in previous years, Benjamins said. "We used to love the raccoons. They'd have their babies this time of year, and they were so cute. Even though we lived in the city, it was neat to have wildlife around," he said, "but this year, things changed. They went nuts." In one case five raccoons tried to carry off a small dog, which managed to survive. The attacks, all within a three-block area near the Garfield Nature Trail in Olympia, are highly unusual, said Sean O. Carrell, a problem wildlife coordinator with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, adding that trappers may be summoned from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to remove problem animals. "I've never heard a report of 10 cats being killed. It's something were going to have to monitor," Carrell said. Meanwhile, residents have hired Tom Brown, a nuisance wildlife control operator from Rochester, Washington, to set traps, but in six weeks he has caught only one raccoon. He and Carrell said raccoons teach their young — and each other — to avoid traps. Brown said he had seen packs of raccoons this big but none so into killing. "They are in command up there," he said." Come along then John. Love your company and your upbeat attitude is always a happy addition to any outing I'm on, any time: tue @ 5:45pm tomorrow, like always, if you get there early head up and boulder some to stretch out so we can jump right on it and not pull tendons and muscles like some other old men. Damn it's nice to have people showing up and belaying and climbing. Bryan, can't make it? We'll miss you. We'll do it later, you'll have to console yourself with dream of 1000' unclimbed granite. BTW, you dudes, my buddy Ujahn has some 3,000 foot unclimbed granite lines scoped out in Alaska if you're interested. _____________________________________________________ Nat, sorry, rarely head to Carver. Been years. No reason, but if I have a full day I head to Beacon or points beyond, if it's a partial day it's typically Butte or Broughtons. Is your daughter like @ 10-12 years old or so? Maybe we could do something else which would equally get her psych on for climbing? But not tomorrow for me. BTW, you dudes lose my phone number for those weekend trips?

Hey Bryon, I'll have you know that while you louses had left me all alone and were out f*ing around putting up a Granite remote semi-big wall first ascent this weekend, these proud, hard working internet warriors were spraying hard. Someone has to do it. Clownpunchers indeed. Los dose Clownpunchers por favor, full story link click this? Schweet stuff. Noticed last time this kind of discussion ensued, Jim Anglin said: You boyz need a "Road Trip" and left us for Yosemite. I gotta start being nicer to these guys so I can get me some climbing invites. Hot damn thats a pretty hunk of remote granite. Nice FA dudes. Bet you had chalk though, didn ya? Now, back to our regulary scheduled flame war. Sorry for the interuption.

Wow, no kidding. You must be young. Shit give it some time Goatboy, you'll have plenty to regret later in life! It just keeps piling up too. First you regret getting drunk and passing out, regret smoking the opium, getting f*ed up and doing your first hit and run at 14 years old, regret doing the heroin, the 5,000 bong hits, the bad acid trips(not the good) regret getting locked into Crystal meth for the extended period of time, regret almost gutting a guy with a knife, regret getting married, regret a paricular job, regret running from the police, regret not getting some other job, regret not dropping out and living in the Yalley for a few years, regret not making more money, regret not working out harder, regret working out too hard and pulling the tendons - etc etc. blah blah. You should count your blessings if that's your biggest regret in life for you are truely blessed. I don't regret going up 26 times last year, most of them a kick-assed time with my 15 year old son. They extended the season end from Apr 15th to later June sometime, but I was rock climbing by then. No regrets, life's too short already. Gaper, it's you and me buddy. I'm pretty sure I have 2 more.
