  1. The nukage isd in my yard. 42cm on Fri/Sat... too bad we had no base. Now the arctic has come south and we are freezing our butts off. Spent a few hours up at Kootenay Pass yesterday, battling to keep our faces from freezing solid.
  2. Depends how trashed the hole is, but a good boot fitter/ski service should be able to set you up.
  3. 25cm on the midmountain stake... w00t! Won't be long now. :D
  4. I'll guess trucker's hitch on a access trail handline...
  5. Heh, I just googled you, I have a feeling you were sandbagging when you said "psyched to ski with anyone that likes to move fast."
  6. Unknown at this time... unemployed until Red opens, then I will probably have 2-4 days a week free. Usually I end up working weekends... Let me know when you are coming to ski Red and we can hook up.
  7. Hakkas on my subie = hardly ever hit the 4wd button anymore.
  8. Scott - I might be up for some stuff. I'm not the fittest, but by the end of the winter, I'm usually out front of the pack. I'm about three hours N of you, in Rossland. I've had my eyes on some lines up at Kootenay Pass.

    GO VOTE!

Either way, I don't care... just do it. See if you can put Canada to shame - we had a less than 60% turnout in our last federal election.
  10. Hi Lisa and welcome to cc.com. Thanks for this important message, and I hope to hear more from you and your colleagues through the winter.
  11. That's cool.
  12. Kettle Falls to Spokane - mostly McCain, a few Obamas.

  15. One part of the answer to fallabit's query is that TR'ing places double the load on the anchor that rappeling does, and so reduces your safety factor..
  16. G-Spotter: SPOT uses GPS to determine position, and then uses the satphone network to transmit the message (OK or distress) to the call center/contact list. Because it is only transmitting very small data 'packets' it can often utilize brief windows of opportunity that a voice call over satphone wouldn't function with. This means that coverage may be slightly better than the average satphone...
  17. I would assume SPOT and satphone would have same coverage since SPOT uses the satphone network. It may be slightly better, since it can operate with marginal coverage.
  18. It's fine, but it may be looked upon with suspicion... Just be straight up (as you already have been) and be honest in your dealings, and all should be good. Oh yeah, read the Yard Sale Rules!
  19. That's pretty odd that the cord is tied and sewn. Sterling makes rescue system prusiks that are simply sewn. There it makes some sense, as it cuts down on the bulk. I guess Metolius isn't that confident in their sewing???
  20. That would be if he said, "it looks sexy, dead."
  21. fast now. THnakz porter!
  22. I'd probably use an ATC style device and a prussik to the leg loop over the grigri if I was doing less than vertical work, due to the soft fall thing. Why do you want to use static? Got an old 10.5 kicking around? Use that...
  23. Some awesome pics. I wish the weather had held out.
  24. And for the best picture galleries I have found... http://www.ctvbc.ctv.ca/gallery/html/bc_rockslide_20080730/photo_29.html http://daveslandslideblog.blogspot.com/2008/08/rockslide-on-sea-to-sky-highway-in.html
