Depends how trashed the hole is, but a good boot fitter/ski service should be able to set you up.

I would assume SPOT and satphone would have same coverage since SPOT uses the satphone network. It may be slightly better, since it can operate with marginal coverage.

That's pretty odd that the cord is tied and sewn. Sterling makes rescue system prusiks that are simply sewn. There it makes some sense, as it cuts down on the bulk. I guess Metolius isn't that confident in their sewing???

I'd probably use an ATC style device and a prussik to the leg loop over the grigri if I was doing less than vertical work, due to the soft fall thing. Why do you want to use static? Got an old 10.5 kicking around? Use that...
