    Flagging

At least bolts are useful... and usually more pemanent than flagging. The thing with flagging is it only lasts a season or so before it falls apart and blows around. I don't leave garbage in the b/c, so why should I leave flagging? [Other than the exceptions already noted]
  8. Ok, maybe they did, but I didn't. And cheaper for who is the real question...
  9. No one said it would make gas cheaper, did they?

    Flagging

I hate flagging. I have carried a lot of it out of the b/c. I mean really, who needs to flag a route along a ridge top? I think it is maybe useful when an area starts to get a certain level of usage, and you want to limit damage to one trail, but otherwise, there is a trail to follow, or there are no trails. Don't mind it if there is a really tricky section either.

    lesson

When I was a bike courier sometimes I would smile and wave at jerk off drivers who were getting aggro on my ass. It helped that there was no way they could catch me in city traffic.

  15. Camp at the Chief campground. You have to walk in from the highway, and carry out your own garbage, but it's free in the winter.
  16. 1 damn lucky snowboarder... http://vancouver.cbc.ca/regional/servlet/View?filename=bc_boarder20040223 http://www.canada.com/vancouver/theprovince/news/story.html?id=10bb7a75-b8cb-4561-9273-5884ab662c66 February 20, 2004 This Bulletin Sponsored by Canadian Pacific Railway South Coast Region Weather: Benign weather is forecast for the weekend. No precipitation is expected until late on Monday. Temperatures will be mild through the weekend, and temperatures in the alpine will be about -3, but should move above freezing in the afternoon. Negative temperatures are expected overnight. Winds will be uncharacteristically light all weekend. Snowpack: Snowfall and winds prior to Wednesday created a hodgepodge of layering in alpine areas. Many locations report hard and soft windslabs over some sort of crusted surface. Observations Friday point to generally strengthening surface layers and tightening in of slabs. Cool temperatures overnight should allow further improvement. At treeline and below, less wind activity was seen. In these spots 20-30 cm of storm snow sits on buried surface hoar. Reports indicate that this layer is not currently a concern for human triggering Deeper layers in the snowpack are reported to be mostly strong. Avalanche Activity: Avalanche activity was minimal on Thursday and Friday. One human triggered avalanche was observed on a 30 cm windslab in alpine terrain. Forecast of Avalanche Danger Up To Monday Evening (February 23, 2004) Alpine ? MODERATE caution on south facing terrain in the afternoon Treeline ? MODERATE Below Treeline ? LOW

  18. Twin tips are different. That's all I really know about them though. Teletips has lots of discussion on this very topic. Try This... Do the skis have a boot center mark? Just make sure you don't use a template.

  22. I have had a pair of Patty Stretch Triolet gloves for a few years now. Very happy. Now I need new gloves, and I am thinking that the Stretch Elements would be a nice upgrade since they don't make the Triolets anymore. They are reinforced in all the areas that my gloves are wearing out. Any one tried them?
  23. It's not just little hands that feel that way about the BD Guide glove It's a glove that feels like a mitten. I found the glove I want today, it is the update of the Stretch Triolet, the "Stretch Element." It has reinforcements in all the spots where my old ones wore out. Now to find some in stock somewhere... BTW, the BD gloves all saeem to be sized bigger this year, I was actually getting my hands into the L, when last year the XL seemed too small.
  24. I am very interested to hear more... Did any of the beacons locate the M2? What is a "red pieps???" or "red on red???" What do you mean by "could not locate?" Could you pick up any signal at all?
  25. A digital camera with a fat memory card can also be used in the way that klenke describes, or an I-Pod. If you have both computers in the same room, and they both have network cards, you could connect them straight through with a "crossover" cable($5), and make a mini network that way. I have never heard of connecting them together with the USB ports though If you are allowed, you could pull the drive out of your computer, and put it into the computer at work, temporarily. Find a local friendly digital photographer who has a portable drive.
