  1. I recently did my CPR C ticket. I was interested to learn that the rates of survival for younger/healthier people are higher (no suprise there) but more interesting was that this was also true in cases where trauma is involved. This leads me to the conclusion that the chance of CPR being a useful skill is actually much higher with the people I tend to be around. I have a mask like Iain's pic in my climbing FA kit, and a simple barrier device in my wallet. I don't even think about it, but I am always carrying one these days. Places like Moore Medical and CPR-Pro are good sources for these items. Even MEC carries them for us Canadians. They are not expensive.
  2. Well, yes, eventually. Glassgowkiss has already stated this opinion of screamers in this thread , but he hasn't backed it up yet, despite a lot of evidence to the contrary. Right now I'd say the jury is out on this one until we see some more hard evidence one way or the other.
  3. Uhmmm, no matter could still be a factor in the price. I used to justify scamming by the fact that I wasn't able to ski there if I had to pay, so it wasn't lost revenue at least, and maybe I would buy lunch or something on the hill. At $12 for a burger, I think I know who is getting scammed then. Clipping tix from a guy in the First aid room is a little low though... But using a day ticket that was bought, and the buyer is not going to use??? Seems OK to me. Maybe not legal, but probably ethical.

Best. Trip. Report. Ever. Wow, glad you are OK.
  8. I think there might even be a 5.13, or at least 12+ now. "The Power of Lard," on the E face of Snowpatch if I am not mistaken. BTW, there was a new edition on the Randall/Bensen (I think, puplished by the Mountaineers anyway) guide out last summer too, but it's no great improvemenrt on the old one. Mostly the same-same, but with a couple of new routes.

  10. I would bet that between the high QC reject rate, the large amount of work, and the low volume, they really aren't that profitable.
  11. Oh, heh, sorry. Kind of a touchy subject for me. still, %-wise, you are probably doing pretty good so far.

    drink tap water

Or pay a lot more ... and still drink tapwater.
  20. I keep all my gates the same way, but the top biner is easy to flip, once clipped, so if I need a gate out of a corner or something, it's no big deal. Here I would be climbing from right to left, and "C\ is a biner with the gate right and down: x \D | C\ becomes: x C\ | C\
  21. Nice job. Pic #2, is that from Wedge Pass?
  22. Have rope coming from the back to the front, that's the rest.
  23. I saw one slide show she did in Vancouver, and thought it was one of thew worst shows I've seen. She was not full of stories, and she did not seem to be even the least bit excited to be there. Maybe she was having a bad night? It was just like "We went here, then we went there, and this is me on some rock there."
