  1. Good advice, one thing to add - When the bag is sopping wet, as it will be coming out of the bath, be very careful picking it up, as the weight of the wet down can tear out the baffles. Make sure you get under the whole thing.
  2. You can get an "international drivers licence" for free(?) at BCAA, or AAA.
  3. My biggest leap in ability came when I learnt to distinguish rational fears from irrational ones. When you have a good piece at you waist and you can't see the next moves, and you don't move up, well that's irrational fear, and if you can control it, you will go far. When you have a shitty piece 5 feet below your feet, and you 10 feet above a ledge, and you can't see the next hold that's a pretty sensible time to get scared!
  4. 4 or 5- It's ice for cryin' out loud!
  5. I don't know what size you are, but you might look into the Wild Roses P-system.(?) Wild Roses web site They are an offshoot of OR that makes girl specific clothes. I won't tell anyone that you're wearing girly underwear!
  6. In reply to all the people who don't like the Alpine Bod: I used i tas my only harness for years, because it was cheap, and it was the most comfortable!! I used the tubing and cord loops too. They kinda suck, but the best tip I have is to make sure the cord is really tight, it seems to make the loops stick out a little more. You could maybe do two layers of tube too. Like Something 7mm OD inside something >7mm ID. Dunno, it might work.
  7. Funny, I was wondering when this was going to get dragged up again. Yikes. On leading limits: I lead up to 10+ trad, TR 11-, and lead 10- on bolts. Is that fucked up or what?? I think it is OK to lead trad to yyour limit, if you know what your limit is, and you are a competent trad leader. Blah blah blah. Good thing we got rid of Anna hey?? She was a real hazard to herself, and this board
  8. Shittiest gloves I ever owned are the same Mixed Masters Dru Likes... Mine lasted less than one season of Skiing with about 5 days of pure ice thrown in their. Seams blew out, liners blew up, etc. Friend of mine hasd the exacty same experience. My current faves are: Patagucci Stretch Triolet, with $7 wool liners in them. WOOL ROCKS for gloves, and more. They are the only thing I've paid full retail for in ages, and I still love them. Remember WOOL ROCKS! Wool trigger mitts w/cheap G-Tex mitt shells are good too. Try craft stores in Newfoundland, or get an aunt or someone to make some. All in all, noone makes a good glove. My dream glove would probably end up costing about $300, and then they wouldn't make it in XXL anyway.
  9. Would be happy to break the road, and I could fit at least a dozen climbers in the back of the mog. Sadly I will not be in that area at that time. Maybe next winter Freshiez in RossVegas today!!!!
  10. Then check out the Lifelink website; they have a dynafit mountaineering boot now. You could have the lightest rig out there, especially if you put a intuition liner in it... Since it looks like the same shell as their ski boot, I bet you could put a buckle on it to improve the ski performance a little.
  11. Come on, some of you must have snow by now...
  12. bolt clipper: Uh Oh, here we go again...
  13. Check this one out, seems like it could be useful. Or at least fun. Smilie HQ I still haven't found good ol' though.
  14. And it must be disheartening as an owner to watch people walk out the door without buying because they wanted the Camalot, not a metolius or something... I've seen this as an employee. Then we got BD BTW I like their nut tool, but it isn't the best, Ushba is. I would say that BD isn't always the best choice, but it is mostly very good. At least after it has been out for few years.
  15. What's wrong, afraid you might learn something?? And it's not a list actually... I read it.
  16. 3 words "Gold Express Card"
  17. Sunvalley ID U$65/day. Eek! Like over a 100 canuck-bucks to ski?! But who pays full price??
  18. Buy 0 lift tickets, hike the Ho Ch Minh, and ski for a week if you want. Try and recycle a 7-11 ticket, sometimes they work more than once. Make sure you look like you skiied a run or two, and go to Customer Service and tell 'em yer ticket ripped off in the trees. It worked for a friend, although his ticket really did get ripped off. Really. Buy overpriced lunch at the top too reduce any feelings of guilt you may have. I've only heard of others doing these things, of course, so don't know if they really work.
  19. Yeah, maybe they could work on relaxing some of the rules at the "women's only" gyms! Is that a step backward or what.
  20. They (not sure which ones, Jia maybe...)also skiied some sick line on Serratus (N Face maybe??) a couple of winters ago that involved a mandatory air in the middle onto a small patch of snow. They had planned to rap it but couldn't find an anchor when they got there.
  21. Who said you have to pay to ski on Whistler?
