1. If you want my 2 cents: Some may know this story, but for the rest who actually care I learned to climb from my Scoutmaster when I first moved to Seattle. After bolt-clipping for more than a year at Exit 38 and climbing Rainier, four of us (ages between 15-16) decided to take the basic course through the Tacoma Branch. Since we were under age at the time, we had to jump through many hoops to get into the course. Once in at first I was excited and then that turned to disappointment, mainly because I was just relearning what I already knew. When I asked to move ahead, I was repeatedly turn away more than likely due to my age, though that is an assumption. On the first day of one of the weekend rock-climbing outings in Icicle Creek (can't remember if it was the first or second), a female student got their hair stuck in their device while rappelling. Needless to say (being that my hair is now longer than hers was), this was a very stark memory and a bleak reminder I use today so that I tuck mine away . The next day, the senior climbing leader fell 20+ feet on Ski Track Cracks and shattered both ankles pretty badly. I will always remember that weekend, and fortunately graduation was not many more weeks off. I completed the course and immediately discontinued my membership, never looking back. I don't know if it was something with that years' leader from the Tacoma Branch, but I felt at the time that the instruction was definately sub-par at the time. I have several friends in the Mounties that I climb with regularly currently, though none from the Tacoma Branch, and I believe they are safe and respectful climbers. Knowing then what I know now, there would have been many instances where I questioned the manner and methods in which things were taught. Just because they have a little badge that says they are the "Climbing Leader" for the weekend doesn't mean you should follow them like a herd of sheep. Use your brain, all the time, because ultimately you all the only one who really cares about whether you live or die.
2. I can't wait to take my girlfriend on a romantic outing to the new self-cleaning restrooms in Pioneer Square. Hey, at least I don't have to clean up the mess afterwards.
3. You're such an Odd Todd!
4. Wow! Though I have never met Todd, some of the things I know that he's done and some of the musings I've read that he has written has alway inspired me. Though it's a tragic loss to the climbing world, his life is something that should be celebrated and remembered for the live's he's touched.
5. You are really burning up those membership miles Jensy
6. How about: Bimbo's Bitchin Burrito Kitchen on Capitol Hill in Seatown. Or: Ho Win Chinese Diner on Delridge, we love you long time?
7. I'm bummed I can't go, but my buddy will be watching you from a distance as you kiss and grope each other. Chuck's a little sicko like that sometimes
8. Speaking of drugs....What time is it?

10. Remember though, according to Mike McGavick, Marie Cantwell supported letting illegals onto Social Services
11. Ironic that the stock market hit another all-time high, while at the same time violent crime is up. I think not!
12. Not any more, you can now use the new nanoparticle sensors to separate out anything.
13. I was gonna say, I'll take a Hummer over any transexual hybrid anyday, twice on Sundays.
14. Aahh! That's what that lingering cloud has been over there for the last few days. I was wondering if something was burning.
15. That's pretty messed up. I would hope I had brought along my #5 to swing at his head.
16. Wow! Dru was the thread killer on this one. Of course, CBS had to fix that a few years later.
17. This is something any self-deprecating man should know about...
18. I have had this problem intermittently as well in the past. I think this had something to do with the the server setup as, in case you haven't noticed, things have been going pretty slowly. I would get tired of waiting for the damn page to load and upload the pictures again and then it would show multiple thumbnails for processing. Not sure if this is the same problem, but PM Oly and complain. He may be able to pinpoint the problem.
19. After talking to Mattp and To_The_Top last night at pub club, I decided to help out a bit by putting together a step by step guide for the new guys on posting a picture into a TR, Post, etc. I realize some, who are using macs, or a browser other than Internet Explorer will have a little bit different menus, but the general ideas remain the same. To start, I always begin by typing my TR or post first and then add the pictures after I'm done with the text. I opt to 'Preview' my post and then during the preview I'll add the photos. The way I do this is as follows: Open the gallery in another browser window by right-clicking the gallery link and selecting "Open in New Window": In this new window, I upload my photos according to the Gallery FAQ. Once all my photos are up, I go to 'My Gallery' and select the thumbnail of the photo I want to add: This will put you on a page displaying the image you selected. Depending on the actual size of the photo, the image you see first may be a smaller version. In the example below you can see that the original image is 2500 pixels wide: As a general rule, you do not want to post anything much larger than 800 pixels wide (the dimensions are in the order width by height). If you do, the subsequent report can be hard to read, since the image will make the page scroll off to the right of your computer monitor. So, if your picture is greater than 800 pixels wide, use the smaller image for display in your TR and create a link to the larger image (look below for instruction for images 800 pixels wide or less). To do this, click on your thumbnail image to load the page with the large image and copy the 'Address' from your browser: Once this 'Address' is copied, go to back to your TR window (Alt+Tab to switch between windows for you 'non-mouse pushers') and press the 'URL' link below the 'Post' textbox. Then paste the copied 'Address' text into the prompt: Press 'OK' and on the second prompt this is where is may get tricky for some. Since we don't want to link it to a webpage (we want to link it to the thumbnail image) we need to get the 'Address' of our thumbnail image. To do this, go back to our 'Gallery' browser window and press the 'Back' button to get back to our thumbnail image: Then right-click the smaller image and select 'Properties': Copy the 'Address (URL)' by highlighting the text and right-clicking and selecting 'Copy' from the subtext menu: Now that we have the thumbnail's 'Address' we go back to our 'TR' window (Alt+Tab) where you should now have a waiting prompt asking us for a 'web page': Type in the following text: Once your finish the 'URL' prompt, you will end up with text in your TR that looks similar to this: This will show a nice small thumbnail, and when clicked a new window will open to your gallery with the enlarged picture front and center. Posting a Picture that is 800 Pixels Wide or Less If you haven't figured out from the above guide, to do this you first go to your photo (the large one this time) and right-click and select properties from the subtext menu: On the 'Properties' window, copy the 'Address (URL)' by highlighting the text and right clicking and selecting 'Copy' from the subtext menu: It is this 'Address (URL)' that you use for the 'Image' prompt in your TR window. In that prompt, just right-click and select paste: Note: You can also use key-strokes to cut and paste for those you aren't in the know. Holding the control key down and pressing the letter 'C' will copy any currently highlighted text in the focused window (active window). Holding the control key and pressing the letter 'V' will conversely paste the most recent copied object on the clipboard to the currently focused window.
20. They just need to make a pill that cures Americans of the laziness. Get off your ass and walk/pedal/skip/run/jog/skateboard/luge a few days a week to work. If you pick one for each day of the week, you'll never get bored. The real secret is how to not have to work to finance whatever you want to do.

22. Wow!! I can actually pay for Michael Layton to touch my body. I can only imagine the pushing and shoving going on in line for this clinic. Probably looks like the line in front of the fertilization clinic after Brad Pit makes a deposit.
23. WTF, pick a place to drink. FOR GODS SAKE!! I can make it if you just pick a place!!
24. Fabulous thread. Thanks Kenford and bwrts.
25. So, of course, the interweb has a plethora of information including this fabulous site: http://bleau.info Yet, I am still lost as to what would be the best place to get the most climbing done if you have only one day to visit. Anyone else been there and have some suggestions as to a good circuit around 6a-6c or lower?
