  1. stop posting for a few hours so I can catch up. That'd be great. I was looking for that stapler.
  2. Better make sure there's no SAR's going on, because if there is the place is liable to be shut down. Happy Birthday Rob!!
  3. How about a page or "Web Ring" of everyone who has there own website? I bet there's a lot of folks with sites that could really expand the knowledge base of climbing routes. For instance, AlpineDave, Ade, MattP, Skykilo, etc... Of course, it would be fair to let everyone opt in instead of being added automatically.
  4. This is basically my point in starting this thread. What kind of precedent does this set for policies of the agencies involved? The first glaciated peak I ever climbed was Mt Baker when I was 15 years old, via the C-D route. When we got to base camp a man had a heart attack and had to be flown off the mountain. Unfortunately, he died on the way to the hospital. Now, while it's no week long SAR event, it didn't stop anyone else that day from continuing on. Actually, made me a bit more determined.
  5. I usually poo in the morning, so wait for my response tomorrow.
  6. Timmay, change the "Portal Page" link to the new frontpage.
  7. I guess I don't understand the mentality that everyone should stay away from the mountain this weekend. Go out climb, get off the couch and go get some. What's the need for them to shut the whole mountain down, I bet there will be hordes of skiers/boarders at Timberline (probably been there all week). Should they shut down skiing, that could get in the way. Maybe they should shut down climbing on Denali until they've remove all the bodies on that sucker ??
  8. This could be construed as a good thing or bad thing, depending on your gender and sexual orientation.
  9. Kauli, look back a few pages on this thread and there are many links. You can also start on CNN.com or MSNBC.com, I believe this story is on their front page. At least it has been the last few days. There's a lot of people (real climbers) that have a lot of belief that these guys are indeed hunkered down, playing cribbage, and are going to have one hell of a story about reading their sleeping bag labels for the last few days. ~~~~~ Good vibes
  10. STFU, moron!! Positive vibes only please people
  11. WTF?? What was the point of this comment? Life goes on, I would think those three, if they are gone (that's a HUGE if), should be honored by people climbing Hood. This is the same argument that the families of the people who crash on Mt Slesse use to justify trying to make that mountain off limits to climbers. Come on people, quit talking out of your asses. Those guys need some positive vibes
  12. It's not getting there that's the problem, it's getting back
  13. Don't miss this guys. :moondance: :moondance:
  14. Now that's funny :lmao:
  15. There's a new term for FOTH
  16. Well if I climbed Denali I'd have an above average size penis too. But alas, I have not
  17. Oh, that explains it, he must me watching Fox News. Dude's probably a Neo-Con.
  18. I wish, more like, time to get home and help change diapers. I'm sure changing diapers is about 5.11c/d
  19. Hey, time to grab the skis and hit the hills. Freshiez here I come
  20. Now here's one I wouldn't mind the media picking up. My best wishes to them and the family for their safe return.
  21. Anyone see trask's post
  22. Air Guitar is definately 5.9+ A2
  23. Even in high avy danger, there are safe places to travel. You should take an avy class Jon, it might help you break your current "I only climb in good weather" attitude. Hell, I went skiing during high avy danger during "Windstorm 2006" in February. The pow was sweet and the crowds were nill. I'm glad the wankers stayed home.
  24. I've skied with a few boarders with snowshoes, and they kept up fine. Actually was a little faster switching to downhill and back, too. It just sucks having to snowshoe though, period.
  25. Why not check the 'Mt Rainier' forum??
