Mighty Mouse was my hero growing up.

I have a hunch nobody has bully'd Dane in his entire life and been successful.

I guess "influential contributor" didn't indicate writing to me but climbing. And I will stick with my list. Steve House and Alex Lowe were beasts in the mountains. Colin is on his way. And times have changed so much that a 40 yr. time parameter is hard to gauge.

Jeff Lowe, Alex Lowe, and Steve House

I just haven't kept track of Twight recently.

A slow news day can be solved at night by walking on Pac Hwy between Tukwila and Fed Way at night. It will not be boring but it could be expensive.
-
How many people do you think Twight has irritated and how many has he inspired?

Then the band name should be "Watergate" or "I am Not a Liar"

best of cc.com Random Climbing Partner(s) Stories
matt_warfield replied to wfinley's topic in Climber's Board
That's some good shit. I once had a partner who took my gf climbing when I was otherwise busy and I ended up without either the climbing or a gf. But I managed since climbing is forever while relationships unfortunately are not. My favorite partner story was Yosemite and I just read about it at the time. A dude (American) and a chick (Latino) connect via bulletin board and can't communicate at all and get stuck on the Nose for a few days in a storm. Think about that scenario.- 98 replies

If you meet a Compton CA type gangster in downtown Seattle you will pucker. But they will have the drop on you anyway so not having a gun is no biggie.
-
I agree, except you have to stay out of the alleys of downtown and Pac Hwy south at night. Lots of bad stuff happens. But most shootings are because you pissed somebody off or owe somebody money or they know you have money. Random shootings are pretty rare.
-
Kind of what I was trying to say. You need an arsenal for a range of conditions. One size fits all doesn't apply.

Adding on to Tvash, it depends on your goals. Spooning in a bivy sack in the alpine, doing a three day dry summer trip in the Enchantments with a tarp or just a bag and pad, backpacking in a big rain like up the Hoh on the way to Olympus, or winter camping all have different criteria. If you scrimp the Cascades will eventually make you suffer.
-
My opinion is that most 1 person shelters are good for summer stuff but flimsy if you are in a storm or in winter. I prefer a couple extra pounds to have a two person sized tent that can withstand nature. Even if you are the only one in it along with your gear. Bigger tents are a pain in the ass and best left to car campers.

No need for guns, the best bumper sticker I ever saw was: Bow hunters go deeper in the bush, shoot more often, and eat what they shoot

-Leading shirtless when partner comments on how good my back looked; gaydar was off the hook -Multiple partners who get distracted with the sights or people and have 10' of slack out and a loose hand on the belay device. -One partner who led then belayed by just looping the rope through the anchor -One of my errors was trying to help someone train for big wall aid and the first pitch involved a traverse with back cleaning. I took a swing cleaning and said screw this.- 98 replies

Good story. The worst is when you get on the route with them then you would really blame yourself after the epic.- 98 replies

[TR] Shuksan - Circumnavigation + Summit 1/21/2013

Excellent pics. And your secret weapon for tanning in winter is obviously to go to beautiful snowy areas and get radiation from the top and bottom. Thanks for sharing. -
There are also people that bolt underpasses to free climb or aid and also get plenty of strange looks. It is derivative since absolutely vertical all the time but can be a way to learn.
-
I was not that innovative. I learned by spending an entire day on one pitch, making every efficiency error possible. My only excuse is it was the precam era. I had to use a bong before the climb and several during the climb.

It is a travesty of nature and one of the biggest abominations in the western U.S. The east has New Jersey.

My kayak trip at Powell was 35 yrs. ago and was more pleasant. But any reservoir just accumulates problems.
