  1. About the only part I caught was bush looking right into the camera and declaring that "we are winning it", referring to the war on terrorism. political discussion behind, I had to laugh because at that instant I pictured him practicing that line over and over in the mirror.
  2. I'm not sure what this "ice tools" or "crap-on" is, but I enjoy snowshoewing. skisparts, can we climb on ice?
  3. Hmm...it seems they are still in disagreement over exactly how many people were out there and how many were killed. I guess the ACC is probably more accurate??
  4. I kinda dig my montrail storm GTXs. I even slogged up through 5 or 6 inches of fresh powder to the top of sahale one time in them.
  5. Hmm...I think I can get that skiing by myself.
  6. Good info ryland, thanks for the link. Have you thought about one of the newer lightweight hybrid boots, such as scarpa F1 or dynafit mountain lite tech 4?? I'm looking into the mountain lite 4 as a possible new pair of plastics for myself.
  7. You ever take a car to a climbing spot???? Is the gallon of gas you might burn on the way any less polluting because you care so much? The amount of pollutants put out by even the worse gaz guzzling SUV is nothing compared to what a 2-stroke snowmobile dishes out. THe 4-strokes are much better, but they still don't have anything like what a modern car does to reduce emmisions.
  8. So what's in it for me if I drive ya?
  9. Ahhh...global warming making those freezing cold winter climbs just a wee bit more bearable.
  10. On the somewhat unrelated note about bibler...if you want a good single-wall tent, look at the integral designs. I compared them with bibler and thought the IDs were better in pretty much every way. Also, despite the size differences listed in their specs, the MX1 XL is the exact same size (I compared side-to-side) as the eldorado, not smaller as the specs would indicate.
  11. check out http://www.rei.com "call in sick, blow off the chores and go enjoy winter while the conditios are prime." Hmm...prime? I wonder if they've been outside? Let alone checked a weather report.
  12. Good quality, low cost gear does not nescessarly mean technological advanments. Take MEC's schoeller pants and jacket. They are very reasonable priced and simple garments that are awesome. I take them on nearly every climb, summer or winter now.
  13. So if a good portion of the board are good people (and I totally believe this), why is REI continues down the path that it does? I think it's obvious that house name gear is where the stand the biggest chance of saving us money, but their house name gear is what lacks the most.
  14. This is one of the reasons I know try to buy stuff at MEC when possible. Their house name gear is great stuff at very reasonable prices. It's also stuff we, as climbers, will actually use, as opposed to more REI brand fleeces.
  15. Hey guys, glad to here you made it! It actually sounds like it was quite fun in an...interesting, sort of way.
  16. Yeah, It's starting to look that way...
  17. high of 9!?? ouch! Yeah, they say it's supposed to get cold at some point...
  18. Fairweather...awesome pictures. Cavey, you planning on doing the olympus trek this winter?
  19. What'cha climb?

    I'm drunk

Yup, I was going..now I'm home, after many hours of boozing and dancing. quite a fun night actually, and look at me...what a wanker...reading this site. whatever, it's cool...time to sleep...I've earned it.
  22. a few years ago during the big year mt baker got more snow in february than any colorado resort got all year, and more than most average every year. PNW still rocks...but we gotta take our shitty years like everybody else. at least a shitty year around here is still 70" of base instead of 12".......
  23. I remember from about 85 to 81 there was always at least one big snowstorm a year that dumped 9" + in the seattle area. since then there hasn't really been once that dumped more than 2 or 3 inches. sux...

    I'm drunk

It's been a very long week...work sucked...I'm tired, I bailed on a climb tomorrow, I really just want to sleep in tomorrow... but, for the mean time, I am drinking many a beer, and many a hard drink and many of anything else that comes to me. Peace out everybody, have an awesome weekend, climb hard if that's what you do, otherwise boozse if that's what you do, otherwise take it easy...
  25. Hmm...seems like it's peaking this year. fucking SUVS
