  1. OK, please argue this... My aurora is brighter than everybody's tikka I have climbed with. Two former tikka users have switched after climbing with me and being pissed at their tikkas. the aurura has 3 settings so you can use low light to cook and hang out in tent and save your batteries. And, again, it's way cheaper.
  2. the princeton aurora is a better headlamp than the tikka too. And cheaper.
  3. erik v. iain is shaping up to be one of the great bouts in history. The scoreboard just keeps bouncing back and forth like a fat girl's boobs.
  4. The other voice in my head told me to wake up. Oh...I'm so confused...
  5. Whoa...SCARY...
  6. That brings up a good point...I wonder what happens when arc'teryx's parent gets bought and the rename them or something. The scot'teryx legend will cease to be!
  7. And so, Eric, if I read you correcty, you are saying that even if it's raining in redmond (which is where the closest forecast seems to be) it's often fine in smith?
  8. Yes, up in the air. skisports and I have from this coming saturday to the sunday following to climb and the weather everywhere is going to suck. banff was the original plan but I'm a pussy and don't feel like drive all the way there, so smiff is an option. so is staying around here and hitting some alpine.
  9. Shit, stop spraying and somebody fuggin' answer this. It seems like everybody has gone to smiff, so somebody knows this.
  10. concurently means at the same time.
  11. My ancestory is part russian. this is why I have trouble containing my massive mullet-in-training.
  12. Well, cause his simple assertion that catbird was "wrong" without any room for debate is the sign of an immature stance lacking any argument. This immaturity could possibly stem from age (or lack thereof.) People learn as life goes on, and from this experience they can draw better conclusions and form their own arguments.
  13. I'm sure this point could be argued for hours, but more importantly, aren't you 16? WTF do you know about the economy or politics besides what your folks feed you?
  14. Milosh, we have all awaited your return. It's good to see you are posting again. Welcome back, old friend.
  15. Yo all. I've found that after reading the weather for local places over and over I can generally distinguish, to some degree, what local weather will be based on the overall forecast. For example, when looking at the east cascades forecast "mostly cloudy, chance of showers" generally means decent weather in leavenworth. I'm curious how this goes for smith. I've been looking at the central oregon and john day highlands (is it anywhere near there??) reports. I guess bend and redmond are the nearest cities? Anyway, from this they all seem to be predicting somewhat chilly (highs of 40s to low 50s) and chance of rain/snow for most of the weekend and next week. Can I take this to mean that most likely smith weather is going to suck, or should I know more than this and assume it will be good anyway? spray away.

    ANWR

Yeah, but it's a far cry to call GM vehicles more environmentally friendly. Honda is investing a ton in future technologies as well but I still applaud them for coming out with hybrids in the mean time. They have provided a car for that market and even if it's only .001% of the market, it's .001% more than the US manufatuers are doing. Not to mention, GM cranks out all sorts of other crap that sucks: suburban, yukon, trailblazer, cadalic ghettoslade, and pretty much every other POS they make.
  19. lambone is right, I think the bibler/ID single wall tents are *stronger* if anything. The fabric is quite thick. The hilleberg tents use really thin material, so I'd actually think the bibler might be stronger if anything. One other thing to consider is platform size. I love the small single wall tents for camping on snow because you don't have to dig a big ass platform for them. The double wall I used before required digging a huge platform that would take forever. This is also a big benifit when pitching on tiny ledges. I have found my ID tent will often fit in bivy spots that were originally cleared for just a bivy bag.
  20. For a while I had a Moss Oddyset Assault, which is a 3 person dome tent like the NF ones you mentioned. it had two large doors and what was somewhat roomy. (very roomy for just 2) Anyway, I think they are on sale all over the place if you can still find one and it's a great tent that has the benifit of also being a lot lighter than the NF models you mention. The reflective guy lines and super-reinforced guy points were nice bonuses as well. Might be worth a look...
  21. Whatever...it's CO, it's probably 90% wind deposited snow. In any event, it will be blow away in a weeks time.
  22. I think Arc'teryx has now officially dethroned Patagonia as the price King, with the launch of the Katabatic. Yes kiddies, that's a $180 windshirt. Yikes! Yes, which pisses me off even more considering they are a canadian company, so their prices should be less than patagucci et al if anything. Arcteryx makes nice stuff, but their clothing is priced ridiculously high.
  23. Have you had the new one in similar winds? I can't see how the difference in how the poles attach to the clips would make one stronger than the other. the weak point, it seems, would still be the stiching, weather plastic stiched to the tent or velcro. FWIW, I seam sealed the seems holding the velcro in on my tent. It's apparently the only place that isn't taped and I figured the little extra security couldn't hurt.
  24. DFA, not that I endorse this war in any way, but just to play devil's advocate 1.)imagine all the innocent german civilians that were bombed in WWII 2.)think of all the people who tied in the 9/11 attacks 3.)think of all the kurds who were gassed and otherwise tortured and killed by sadaam 4.)think of all the iraqi citizens that have been tortured or killed under sadaams regeime for speaking their mind Like I said, I'm against this war for the present reasons, but it's at least worth painting more than a tiny bit of the picture.
