  1. Check the updated mtn forecast if you haven't. Looks like we could pick up a couple feet pretty quickly.. Anyway, peace out y'all, have a good weekend!

    Kill Bill

Definitely entertaining, a bit over the top tho. Tarantino isn't the genius a lot of people seem to think he is, but it still was worth my $7.
  3. Ummm...I'm gonna call operator error on that one. It's an option. I store plenty of email in offline folders as well, it's quite useful.
  4. HOLY CRAP! I always knew the whitechuck flowed very quick, but that is pretty amazing.
  5. Well, local color or not, the trash they often left wasn't very cool. I also tend to think a giant wooden box of muddy water isn't the first thing I want to see in the wilderness. I think the whitechuck river gave the "hot springs" exactly what it deserved.
  6. Yes, the loss of kennedy hot springs is a good change for that area in my opinion. It wasn't even very hot; luke warm at best. It was also brown, and as previously mentioned, full of some pretty disgusting people.
  7. Yes, I doubt you'll get much argument about the fact that India and China are both pretty fucked up societies.
  8. This is why I travel to Mexico (or if I can afford it, Uzbekistan) for medical treatment. The U.S. medical system is bottom end...
  9. Not to mention the guy says he wants to get his word out there as much as possible. I think he'd rather you list his name.
  10. The rampart creek hostel is really neat too! Though I can't complain about the lake lousie hostel which was downright plus and full of HAWT australian girlies.
  11. Very cool pics. I have some similar ones from the same eldorado trip the weekend before last when paco and I were up there.
  12. i had the exact same shit happen to me on the matanuska glacier this summer...luckily i just faceplanted after falling 10 feet..no crevasse. maybe we should start carrying our prusiks differently? i was kneeling, and when i stood up the loop from one of my prusiks caught on my crampon, turning me into the amazingly retarded freaky robot, toppling over and sliding down, realizing at any moment it was gonna start hurting a lot... Yeah, me three. Same think...a daisy chained piece of cord came undone and caught when I bent over to do something. When I stood up I went tumbling. Yay...real fun.

    Crummy SUV

Yes, they are both very sweet cars. It's great to see some of the rally inspired cars making it to US shores after years of decline in the US market of foreign sports cars. I've always been a big subbie fan too, but I think I might try to go test drive the Evo for shits n' giggles.
  14. scott_harpell, you are a fucking idiot. Thanks.
  15. FWIW I talked to a NCNP ranger in person who was up surveying damage on the cascade river road. He said they are actively working on repairing SR20.

    Chair Peak

FYI...I'll be going up to the chair peak summit this week to piss down the north face and help supply a little more moisture for the freeze-thaw cycles.
  17. I'm not a kayaker either...can you explain what you mean about "why he didn't pull" when you "had safety set up?" I'm curious about what all that means. I didn't know Ben at all but I really enjoyed reading the trip reports from you, him and your whole crew. They were interesting and humorous and always highlighted the fact that you guys were just a group of good friend's always out having a good time. Despite the fact that he wasn't somebody I knew personally it really hits hards to have someone you know well by name pass from the community.

    Crummy SUV

trask, did you look at the mitsu lancer evo at all? I was looking at that and the sti. My friend who drove them both thought the evo was the better performing car, but it the subaru certainly is the more polished looking vehicle.
  19. Nike Ascent Watch I've had great luck with this one. You can find them at the outlet store in North Bend for cheap. And they go up to 30,000 feet. How much did you see these for in the north bend outlet? I F@*#(@ lost my watch earlier this season and I miss it.

    Crummy SUV

We can compare track time and winter driving events some time if you'd like...
  21. I would imagine it's pretty crappy. Probably mostly unconsolidated snow over rock and I bet the west ridge rock section is pretty difficult in these conditions. Just my guess..
  22. Anybody who actually *climbs* with a $600 watch is stupid. It's a nice looking timepiece tho.

    Crummy SUV

Reminds me of the time they rented us a dodge durango in colorado for driving through the passes because "SUVs are good in snow" That thing was the scariest piece of shit I had ever driven. I would have rather been in a geo metro in snow.

    Fuck you, weather.

This is what I was thinking, but check out the forecast for after it...continued snow and rain and fluctuating freezing levels.
  25. JoshK

    Fuck you, weather.

THURSDAY...PARTLY CLOUDY... FREEZING LEVEL AROUND 10000 FEET AFTERNOON PASS TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 40S. SOUTHEAST WIND IN THE PASSES 10 TO 15 MPH. Well, so much for the ice, and the snow....
