And also there is the Friends of the NW Weather and Avalanche Center. . Time to pony up a little membership money.
The day's avalanche report is posted at, what, 8:30 each morning. How many folks wait till then to read it before heading out?
This is second hand info:
The tv news report from last night quoted the two members of the second party as saying that two members of the Mounties party were below, three were skiing in the middle, and two were above. The top two of the Mounties party above triggered the slide. I don't think all were caught up in the avalanche.
Best wishes to the survivors and the families and friends.
(Edit: Turns out one of the survivors is a friend.)
I recently bought a new HP laptop at Best Buys. Works fine. There are a lot of good deals in the $1000 range. Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. Check the ads.
I've only heard bad experiences buying reconditioned computers.

dude; you must have been fast - you were off the ice before we even got on.
I think I was back to the car and in search for a latte before you got on.
This is of no surprise to anyone who has ever tried to keep up with Steve.

FYI. Ryan has spent a fair bit of time examining the claims and performance of lightweight outdoor gear. Check it out here.

In the lower left corner of Tiger here is a fairly substantial ice wall. Has anyone tried climbing it? Rock fall might be an issue.

Just an idea, but if you've got new gear, or old gear and it isn't marked in some way.....
Like, you know, make sure your name is on your helmet.
