i never really needed it til i started climbing in the .10's it has a lot to do with technique and with strength but honestly i think it is mental. i dont "need" the tape as much as it makes me feel better and makes my hands a bit bigger. i have small hands and what was rattely and really fricking hard becomes a really sweet hand jam. it doesn't matter what i do or waht i tape i still come home with wounds all over me... no one ever said i was graceful it has however been a long time since i had a huge gobey on the back of my hand i so can't wait. i wonder if the scar tissue from learning to climb is still there???

the only place i have ever back clipped was in the gym. the bolts are too close together and it does not give a good representation of what it feels like to climb 5' before you clip again. i hope other gyms are better than the one we have here. it freaks me out cus sometimes the 5.10's are esaier than the 5.9's and the guy that puts up a lot of the routes here is REALLY tall and loves reachy climbs. I am 5'5" tall and when the wall is blank until a foot above my furthest reach... it is reall frustrating. outside i can almost always find an intermidiate hold, something to shimmy up or some tiny edge that the tall people don't need. inside, not so much. it can be very discouraging. i could go on and on. it is okay for when it is the middle of winter, and i do go, it is better than nothing.

no, nothing is sacred. I love hockey but stoped watching after the penguins lost...except the end of one red wings game

i didn't used to tape. but found that if i did i could make better progress following in the .10's that i am not familiare with. some how the tape made me feel more invincible and made it so i was more willing to hang off my balled up little hand crammed into a crack. i dont tape at the collums though. i love crack climbing more than i love anything in the universe except my children. and this summer, i am teaching them to climb the cracks.

If it doesn't, freeze the paintballs or use marbles. Personally, a .22 cal in the basement probably isn't a bad solution. No one outside will hear it if you use .22 cal shorts. Is discharge f a firearm within your own home illegal? wow DUDE i was just thinking about you today and wondering where you have been

not really spray. but i agree. i dislike gym climbing. i get the BLUES in the winter cus i do'nt ski.

first off, privilege, college, career and freedom do not necessarily all go hand in hand - in a place like pakistan especially. but yes, that is what i am saying (though there will be other women involved as well). we have tons of ideas of where it could go in the future - such as the women training other women, as you mentioned. it is just impossible to tell what will happen after this year. but that is not a good enough reason NOT to proceed with the project. thank you for the clarification. I wish you all the best of luck and i hope good things come of the project. I do hope there is some kind of follow up to see what kind of effect this program has.

Does anyone know what this woman's trying to get at? Is it that she has a deep seated need to invent her own secret language? It's good to see her needs have, and continue to be, met. I <3 dechristo

Does anyone know what this woman's trying to get at? Is it that she has a deep seated need to invent her own secret language? as a matter of fact i do have my own language. If you contact snoboy he may be able to get you a copy of the muffy to English dictionary. p.s. after having conferred in with the grammar police, my sentence is a bit awkward, but grammatically correct. fyi

to avoid facing any kind of truth other than the one they are spoon fed by thier peers, media and society. critical thinking is a thing of the past.

I didn't ask why. I made a statement of oppinion. i am interested in the book you sugested and may pick it up.

That's silly. Conservation isn't about stopping use (you don't conserve water by not drinking it at all); it's about using the resource more wisely than we do now. Carpooling is a big part of that. I disagree. i think 2 people in a car although considered carpooling, is not. if you are going to make an impact you aught to stop wasting resources all together. there is no NEED to leave city limits and every thing you NEED is well with in the city bus limits. that is conservation. conservation is fundamentaly not using more than you NEED.

i have friends and a car point being you really are not impacting the consumption of fule unless you do not ride in cars. taking pulic transportation is great as is riding ones bike and walking.and i am sure it helps to some degree, but if one were to want to make a truely marked impact on our environment it would take more than choosing to not OWN a car. interestingly, my climbing partner just got back from Sydney where he was able to use public transportion to get to the mountians. It wasn't the outback, but i think that is brilliant.

how do you get places to climb and hike?

you are on to somethign here ivan. someone has to be the hated one. is someone else going to volenteer???

Will you clarify this for me? Are you saying the women who are being helped in this case are women who are already of privilege and already have options for college, career and freedom? I think it is imperative in this kind of situation to have family support. That said, I think it is sad that it is not at this time possible to help the women who are in desperate need of assistance. Perhaps these women of means will find it in their hearts to pass along what they learn to help woman not born to privilege

that was exactly the kind of information i was hoping someone would provide. thank you for answering so many of the questions raised so throughly. just out of curioisty are any of the low income housing projects you run in the PNW?? when my boys and i lost everything it was very difficult for me to get any assistance from the state. the only reason we survived was the graciousness of friends and family, and my landlord for 9 years. he did not rais my rent the whole time i lived there and was suportive and understanding while i was working my way up at my job. granted i know i have it good becuase i did survive and i was able to get off food stamps and welfare in less than 60 days. but had my parents not had the money to help me pay rent and electricy i would not have had them as i could not get enough cash assistance from the state. i only needed 2 months. it was absolutly the most mortifying terrible frightening time in my life. so you are correct we certinly have it better than other countires do, but that doesn't make it fun.

it is the same where i work. security or invasion of privacy? who knows. but it is what it is.

Although I appreciate the thought, you thankfully haven't heard the embarrasing stories of my crazy anti-social bad bar behavior during the 2003-2004 pub club season. These stories generally start with me not getting a refill and soon enough it goes rapidly, unexpectedly and loudly downhill from there. There are people who use to post here who won't drink with me anymore. ________________________________________________________ Other club member: "Please stop whistling at the waitress". Me (leaning forward across the beer soaked table to make Robert Deniro eyecontact): "Are you F*ckin talkin to ME?!! Bad I'm sayin.... COOL we should hang out

no way. he would have no time to climb and that would suck. i wouldn't condem a good man to such a fate.
