there are alot of good points all over the place in this thred. the first time you catch your kid smoking pot you probably don't have to toss them into the dungen and throw away the key. however, i do think it is a parents obligation to be nosey, to snoop and to pay close attention. I had a pretty serious drug problem by the time i was 15. I also got decent grade and went to school most of the time and held down a job. by the time it was time for me to go to college i was to messed up to bother. not everyone has an adictive personality. the biggest point i would like to impress upon everyone is that some people do. I can't ever get back the brain cells i burned, or the time i lost to my drug habbits. my parents were paying so little attention that i could go home and eat sunday dinner high on 4 way window pane. they just didn't know any better, and they were so caught up in thier own issues that the fact that i was on the fast track to the loony bin just escaped them. I don't think it was out of malice, i know now that they love me the best they could. (i can say that after many years of therapy) however they missed some serious sings of problems. including a serious eating disorder, slef mutilation and two suicide atempts. for me drugs where an escape a way out. i was not "experimenting" i was activly self medicating. what i needed was help. looking back i didn't think i needed help, i thought everyone was as fucked up as i was. i don't think that is the case any more. primarily becuase now iknow what it feels like to not be that fucked up. my parents thought i was just beeing a normal pain in the ass teenager. they thought i was just partying like a normal teen and having some memories. in ways they were right, i certinly have some memories (emphisis on some, i really can't remeber a whole lot) drug use and abuse is a serious issue and can be a sign of bigger problems. it is something to keep in mind as your kids grow. again i get that not everyone has the same experinces that i had. and thank god. but if you have a child who is experimenting it is worth your time to be nosey and make sure it is JUST experimenting.

hmm - sounds like everyone in "trainspotting" i was preggers when i saw that movie. It was so disturbing to me i balled for hours after. they were so high they let the baby die.

Muffy lighten up some, he's not dissing you or your boyfriend. Rocky was doing shitloads of 1 armed pushups. Pretty amazing. But that was just pretend, a movie. Hopefully you have him back doing pushups again already. 8D Edited to add: there is NOTHING that sucks worse than bad back pain IMO, I'm including falling 80 feet and bouncing off of ledges on the way too. He is strong but he will never body build again. the injury or condition if you will (spondylolisthesis) is actualy common to body builders and gymnists because of the way they load the lower back. it can also be present at birth or develp in childhood or in the elderly due to wear and tear.

Except a random stranger won't point a sack of weed at you and you'll fall over dead. Death by self-stupidity is one thing. Death by the stupidity and anger of others is quite another. driving drunk kills even more people. pointing a 3000 pound car at someone doing 60 mph is just as deadly as a semi-automatic Glock. and driving under the influence of drugs can do the same. then there is the effect of drugs on crime - robbery, murder, etc. to get cash for the next "fix" yes yes and yes. many murders and violent crimes are casued by people who are loaded want to get loaded or need to get loaded. the majority of times in my life that i have been threatend raped beaten etc i was high and with some one who was high. i can not say this enough, there is nothing atractive about the drug culture. I don't even smoke pot any more. the reason for that is in part becuase the dealers i knew were making a shit ton of money selling pot and they were also collecting food stamps and welfare and financial aid to go to collage plus they were using the state health plan. i disagreed so intensly with those people fucking over the rest of us i had to either do what they were doing, or quit using drugs and contributing to thier wealth. they were making more money than most high income people in the area and still collecting all forms of state and federal "help" drugs fuck up the chemistry of your mind. even pot. i know someone who got so fucked up using just pot and drinking that he went off the deep end. my theripist said it was likely drug induced psycosis. that person is not even able to care for himself any more. any genetic pre disposion one may have to mental illness will be agravated by drug consupmtion. the possablity exisits that if you never used you would be fine and live a normal productive life. if you use the possability of going of the deep in inceases drasticly.

No it wouldnt and you know that, two completly different things you cant compare it to the most dangerous thing available and say see.. way way way to much tv man, kids who come from good families can experiment and figure shit out with out too much harm. life is about experimenting and figuring shit out, if you subscribe to the do it once and your addicted then your mistaken did you actualy do any drugs when you were in high school? becuzse i did. and not really that hard core... but hard core enough to have lost too many friends to drug OD's and other metal fucked up shit from having done too many drugs and fucked up there whole life. i can think of two guys i knew off the top of my head who blew their brains out. you know i am stunned at how many peaople are shocked and appaled that there is access to guns and they should be illigal but think that drugs are just fine. drugs kill just as much if not more than guns do. having done the the things i have done and seen the things i have done and sufferd the consequences i think drugs should be legal for those over 18. and i will never ever put shit up my nose again period. or in my vaine but i never did that.

obviously, you don't have a kid yourself.... Personally, i'd like to know as a parent...If more for a "lecture" on caution and consequences... at 15 we are not psycologicly prepared to make rational choices. i read some brain study or sum shit

Having been a boy earlier I can assure you they were not thinking at all. This is just the way of the world.
