you are very very very correct. and it is a pitiful example of how to rais children. these are the people who feel guilty for working 10 hours a day and let thier kids ride rough shot over them. any time or relationship where the kids figure out they are in control is out of control. *mommy brag* i get compliments on my childrens behaviour on a very regular basis. alot of things contribute to that, but my ex and i agree that part of the reason they are growing to be such amazing people is becuase i was home with them. we are consistant and we don't let them run wild where it is inapropriate (ie anywhere in public) and we are willing to call any situation. if something starts to go wrong, we leave. PERIOD. even disnyland there is a whole generation of parents trying to be their kids best friend. I don't think that works. i don't care if my kids like me or not. I LOVE them and thats what matters.

for the record i don't think that tacking a $ amount to what moms do is pheasable or even smart. for me that article is reduculas. i did not think it was easy being a stay at home mom. but i did it becuase i felt it was the right thing to do for my children. I don't miss it. I am glad i did it. if it were valid at all i want my back pay

The best parts of my day are waking up early to make breakfast with my son (my wife gets breakfast in bed each morning), and then the hours of 6-10pm when I play with the kids and put them to bed while my wife gets a chance to relax. First - stop with the homework. It's a useless waste of time. I never did any, and my kids will never do any. Life is too short for busy work. Second - don't clean the house so much. Do an hour less housework and sleep an extra hour. Is it really going to make a difference. Finally, you get to play with your kids for a few hours each night. This is work? i am not really a "play" kind of mom. i am good for a band aid and hugs and reading and some colouring. a little play dough... but i had 2 kids for a reason. they play together. i think this is an area where many people make a mistake. they spend too much time entertaining their children instead of allowing the child to learn to entertain them selves. for me most of the is not even an issue any more. my boys are big. I will not stop having them do homework. that is just sillieness. more power to you and i hope with your alternative view you find an alternative education for your kids. be it home schooling or some other option.

Working partents "get everything done" b/c someone else raises their children 8-10 hours per day. Really? Tell that to all the single moms and dads out there... thats what school is for it's a place to stash the kids while i go to work. then i go home, make dinner, help the kids with homework, get them clean and into bed with reading time and then i clean the house. I get to bed about 12, and get up between 4 and 6 depending on the day and the hours i work. seriously it is so much easier now. once they are 5 it gets a ton easier. of course neither of mine is a teen yet, so we will see

how is this so? i have yet to meet a man who can breast feed a child and if he can, thank god there is finaly a way to share the buren. i have been called home from trips, from the dr's office, because there was something up with the kids. thier needs always come before mine. when i was married my husband worked all the time and hwen he wasn't at work he was doing his own thing. he hung out with the kids on occasion, but that never once meant i stoped thinking abou the boys or worrying about them, i was and am always on call.

sure they do. but not foever. my mom started to sleep soundly when i was about 25. ofcourse i had been out of the house for almost 10 years by then. think of it as being on call all the time.you get paid more for being available to the company via cell phone than an hourly emplyee correct?

i disagree. there is a performance review and fireing is divorce.and the real consequence to fucking up as a mom is you rais a psycopath. that is a lot of resposablity. I am not really sure how running a company is more dificult than running a family. they require different skill sets for sure. i think that when a ceo fails people lose money. when a mom fails we lose a life. and yes i was a stay at home mom for 8 years going to work every day is so much easier. people tell me when i do a good job. they give me money, i can call in sick, and i can just take a day off because i feel like it. i am really good at leaving my office work at the office, i am a mommy all the time, even when the boys are with their dad. i never know when i am going to get the call tha someone fell off the monkey bars and broke something.

IMHO that is way low. stay at home moms have no benifits, no time of no vacation pay and really work 24 hours a day 7 days a week. and i am pretty sure they did not calculate in the 1000 a night for a roll in the hay to be qute honest whether we choose to be mommies or spend time and energy loving and contributing to the raising of other peoples children, you can not calculate the worth of a woman. no man could ever aford any of us.
