I agree the numbers would be really different if you said 5.7 instead of 5.9. What routes 5.9 and above get a lot of traffic in the Cascades? Stuart N Ridge w/Gendarme, West Face CBR, Backbone Ridge, Burgner/Stanley on Prussik. Does Lib Bell group count? If so, toss in NW Corner and W Face on NEWS and Liberty Crack. Rebel Yell or Clean Break maybe, though I've never heard of parties stacking up on those routes. There's plenty of other worthy objectives, but they just don't get that much traffic. I picked the 500-1000 bracket, though I lean more towards the 1000 than the the 500 end of that scale. Back in the pre-internet days, no one had a clue just who was climbing what, until you actually ran into someone out there.

Once in awhile, when I go to the Spray forum, I get this list of dusty old threads as if they were the most recent thing. This ever happen to anyone else? Since Pope reaffirmed his bond with his buddy Peter Puget in that MTB TR (Pope's second TR ever, good on ya!) it seemed fitting to pull this crusty little chestnut to the foreground.

UPDATE 6/24/09 It's been dry all day, though radar suggests there's a persistent band of showers hanging out down by the I-5 corridor, so who knows what the evening holds. Looks okay right now though... While raptor nesting may be protected on public lands, there is no such prohibition on hornets nesting on private land, so the nest down by Pete & Ted's Excellent Adventure has been sprayed.

Kodachrome was my favorite slide film, I liked that color balance. Unfortunately, it's not very friendly for slide scanning and any attempt at digital cleaning in the scan phase (a must for slovenly sorts to tend to store slides in brown paper bags ) can make for really weird scans. That said, I haven't shot Kodachrome in years, but I am slipping back into black & white.

Funny thing is, I think there's some support for the idea of a MTB forum, its a pity the idea wasn't put forth with a little respect.

Yep, there's the rub: intentionally wasting admin time. Pope's due a time out for sure, I'd expect to receive that same treatment myself if I spammed every forum. I understand...I kind of like Pope, I even kind of like Raindawg too. What the hell is wrong with me? Oh, I kind of like those guys too. Dawg hasn't gone anywhere, and I think Pope is merely on sabbatical. I don't really have an opinion on an MTB forum, seems like a different subculture with some overlap, but whatever. I don't think a separate sport climbing forum is called for either, though I wouldn't mind seeing a little more self-applied tolerance in the rock climbing forum around the subject.

If Pope had wanted to discuss a MTB forum, he should have posted it in Climbers Board or maybe the CC.news forum and gotten some input. Since he posted the question in every forum one can only conclude he wanted to get booted from the board.
