What, are you trying to lob Pink a softball just so he'll post that picture again? That was an okay joke ya fish smelling liver fluke, I especially liked that the red and blue ribbon could have had a partisan politics set-up, but it didn't go there. Reminds me of one of my favorites: What is the Frankenstein Monster's favorite cereal? Corn flakes.

Great thing about that route is when you make the titular move - not just a funny name but one that fits the route.

I hear you, I'm not a fan of snuff films. It's rather easy for me to avoid anyway, since I don't have broadcast, cable, or satellite at my house, though the Olympics are one of the few things that give us a hankering for live feed. Anyone have an online source for the upcoming events?

Shriveled Penis - Mt Lemmon

You guys be more polite or I'm going to ship this thread to the Climber's Board.

Once you cross the border into this sovereign intertardnation, all your rights are become ours. Why, we could seize the entire contents of your hard drive, just like they can at the US Border!

I think they were all embarrassed after their torrid 3-way with Pete H got leaked on the internet.

Dane's a goddamned gem, but this isn't Supertopo.

Thing is, there's a great story that has been posted along with those photos, and I thought its been one of the better contributions from that poster. He should be encouraged to do more of that rather than be ridiculed for it.

Oooh, a little peep from Pope, like a dog with a bone. Has someone just used your name on cc.com, or did they say Pope = Whatever your real name is? Certainly you've posted pictures of yourself that have been published in a guidebook, I'm not sure what you expect a moderator to do about that? Thanks for the backhanded compliment, but I'm not all that important around here.

Yeah, I'd say I generally fall under Mtguide's approach and history. Looks to me like the BUS thing works, though perhaps best for yo-yo top roping, you know, like in the gym. Point is there's a lot of ways to go about it, and knowing more than one thing is best. Everyone ought to know how to hip belay, nothing can move the rope faster on easy ground. Gri-gri's have their place too, but I find 'em awkward for belaying a leader.

Given that these threads are usually started by either Raindawg or you in an insulting manner, are you asking me to delete the entire thread? This isn't a JOB, since I don't get paid, and babysitting your pet rant is not really what I want to do for hours a day, every day. Your rants are not an asset to the site. You want custom service? PAY ME A DECENT WAGE.

This seems germane to the conversation... [video:youtube]

I've had a long standing offer to pay for my daughter's first tattoo. The caveat was that it had to be the word "FUCK" and it had to be on her forehead.

Oh fine, post another clown shot to contribute to the discussion Heywood Jablowme of Sumas, WA.

I do believe that's one of the nicest things you've ever said to me, you old charmer!

I thought this chart, from National Geographic, was sort of interesting. We might even get a new slogan: "For 3 times the cost, we're almost as good as Portugal!" You know, you look at these comparative numbers, and it almost seems as if there is something in the middle sucking up all the money. Oh yeah, look: highest cost, mediocre (as in below median) longevity. The 37th ranking in quality of care came from some other source I heard but can't recall the source, so feel free to discount that statement if it makes you feel better.

Not yet but we still think it could occur given the right circumstances with some moon and star realignment tossed in as well. Since Beacon IS the center of the known universe, it all starts and ends there though. May I refer you to the USE REAL NAMES thread that's already in progress?

So be prepared to buy some Toyota stock when it hits the low point...

I'm guessing he'd think it would be a worthwhile trade off if no one else can spend time running down his profession, speculating about his climbing resume, or bringing up the 5.13 wager. Another suggestion has been a pair of articles, one by Pope & Raindawg stating their case in a cogent respectful manner, and one from another perspective with a similar tone, like make Kimmo write it. Post 'em up front page or some such, then just refer people to those epistles.

I didn't think this picture of Mark's looked like either of those crags

Bug, I think you're talking apples and oranges. What happens with the bolting threads is that they immediately come up on mod's radar because historically they've been ugly unproductive insult factories. Depending on the inclination of whoever is babysitting the problem child, there may be an effort to delete inappropriate posts and manage behavior for awhile, but like a runaway infection, control attempts inevitably fail and sooner or later the whole thing gets shipped to Spray. If anyone gets a threat directed to them that makes them uncomfortable, don't wait for some mod to notice in the thread and come to the same conclusion as you, immediately notify one of the Administrators for the site, either Jon or Porter, and they'll handle it. If you're really afraid, this is a much more serious situation than polite conversation or thread traffic control. Reconciliation is preferable to banishment, and is much more effective in the long run. I'm glad that both you and Hugh continue to post here. I'm not inclined to discuss Cpt Caveman's banishment publicly, and certainly not before clearing the subject with the administration of the site.

Raindawg, I didn't mean "promotion" in a pejorative sense, would you prefer the term "citation"? I actually thought it was pretty cool and a good post you'd made. It absolutely made a connection between your online persona and your real world identity. I also don't find the ridicule of your profession very entertaining, but it is within the very loose boundary of social interaction that happens in Spray. You and I both know that the people who engage in that probably don't care one way or another about archaeology, all that matters is that they know where to find your goat. I think the fact that they do it suggests they find some the things you say and the way you say them to be offensive, but that might just be me. I think that Matt responded as he did was in response to your own attempt at axe grinding, but he can speak for himself. Are you suggesting there is something wrong with a person having an axe to grind, going back over the same topic time and again?

"Bug", I'm really sorry we mishandled that incident. When "Hugh" commented that he should have "caped your ass on the inter glacier" (which all understood to mean "capped"), I assumed that in fact you guys had encountered each other out in MRNP and were making with some banter. I don't believe anyone took what "Hugh" said seriously, and we failed to understand that you really felt threatened. I apologize for any fear and distress you experienced, and I'll make every effort to take future complaints at face value. edited to add: "Bug", "Raindawg" had already outed his own self with a little book promotion, and he still hasn't answered my question why it would be inappropriate for Matt to repeat information he has already shared.
