Hah, I just came over to post about this route, but Bronco beat me to it. Looks like a good time to me, definitely goes on the list.

Certainly helped develop my Counting Crows aversion, though that might have been a different year. I think I only went to Tuffyfest in 04 and 05. This is from 2004.

Whoa, Trogdor sighting, that doesn't happen every day. For those who need a primer:

That's pretty funny. Filmed on several formations, the long shots are the Bastille Buttress on Lone Pine Peak but a lot of it is on crags in the Whitney Portal area. Nice sunny granite looks pretty swell this time of year though, I'd watch it.

I'd never heard of this, kind of interesting http://www.aquamira.com/geigerrig/products/engines-and-accessories/ I've always been a little cavalier about filtration, sometimes serious about it, sometimes not at all. Never been laid low by backcountry water, so I'm probably one of those asymptomatic carriers, Typhoid Off.

No, I don't think she would mind. After I asked I noticed the first one has her name on it, answered my question. I think when in doubt best to give credit, but I have the sense she's all about getting information out there.

first ascent [TR] Summit Chief Mountain- North FAce 4/18/2004
Off_White replied to Colin's topic in Alpine Lakes
It was your TR from Big Snow that sent me looking around, and what with the popularity of Triple Couloirs on Dragontail I thought pointing out an equivalent alternate would be a real public service. I was trying to find Scott Presho's reports from cragging up by Hardscrabble Lake on that good looking rock, but come to think of it it might be ChucK who did that. I'm still figuring out the search function on the new software. -

I thought I'd bump this vintage thread, a good looking route that didn't become popular. Gating the road at Dingford Creek didn't help I'm assuming, still, there are lots of folks who oughta go climb this thing. Alpine Dave's website with the TR is still alive, though no new content since 2009. I pilfered the picture of the face with the route line, but here's the whole report with pictures of the FA of this route: http://www.alpinedave.com/summit_chief/north_face.htm -
I'm confused by your abuse of terminology, you aren't a Russian bot by any chance, trying to stir up division?

I've updated and cleaned out Mr. Puget's original post, feel free to add other stuff if you'd like.

Whoa, that's Dane at his level headed best! Nice treasure excavation Jason. -
If you're talking mountaineering, I'm going to second Gene and advocate for the Sierra in California. Lightweight winter this year, good weather forecasting, really great 4th & low 5th objectives. Oh, and beautiful too. If I were going to go rock climbing I'd probably head to Tucson, lots of choices around there. San Diego County also has lots of lesser known gems and a good season going on.

That's great, thanks. Looks like Steph Abegg's work?

"Why would you want to go to France, it's full of French people!" -Jean Reno Also, Switzerland is really (really) expensive. Go to the Dolomites in Italy, great hiking, lots of refugios, amazing scenery, good cheap food.

Tell it to John Salathe. They used to just call it climbing.

The key to having a good time on the classics in Yosemite is an alpine start. Be at the base at 5am and you'll usually be the first party, then you just have to be a fast party. -
Ipsut Creek or the Westside Rd at MRNP?

So much to love in this TR, but perhaps none so much as this simple line of text: "Lest I anger Klenke" -
[TR] Logan - Fremont Glacier 7/30/2016

Oh, but it beats the alternative, I assure you. My buddy Guy who died at age 20 on the first alpine ascent of the south face of Aconcagua would likely agree, I miss that irascible bugger. Dying in the mountains has become much less appealing compared to being really really old in my own bed with loved one's around. Death or Glory indeed. -
