  1. Larry, folks I've known our age have had success with various online dating systems. If you go that route, and I mean this in the kindest way, you'll want to work on your punctuation and paragraph structure. It seems like a hard thing, meeting compatible women in your 50's, I don't envy your situation. A few places I've noticed that the female/male population balance is way skewed in a direction you'd like are yoga/pilates classes at gyms, or take up knitting. I can't tell you the number of times I've been the only guy in a crowded yarn/knitting store. You're unemployed, so you've got a little time on your hands. Pick a cause you believe in and volunteer, you'll meet some folks with overlapping ideals. Anyway, best of luck in your endeavor.
  2. He was unemployed, so at worst Choada is 1 for 5. Your conclusion is at least as speculative as CB's initial post.
  3. Well damn (portland) Rob, that's a drag. Heal up and take care of yourself, maybe try walking instead of running and taking the bus more? Have a great birthday. Oh, and happy birthday to (seattle) Rob too...
  4. Damned straight! That's why I wrote my new rep Jaime Herrera that I'm glad she's trying to overturn the healthcare bill because the people really want single-payer! Pink, how long have you had health insurance? Have you ever noticed that it goes up every year? *NEWSFLASH* It also goes up as you get OLDER. Welcome to the club grasshopper, you're moving closer to an AARP membership every year.
  5. Found this image on the internet. Is a surveyor's mark on her head a threat? Is this in bad taste? Would Sarah support this expression of first amendment rights? Discuss amongst yourselves...
  6. Well, PP wasn't far off the mark when he said "You're simply spewing spurious hyperbole" since that was more or less what I was doing. I doubt Sarah understands what she was saying, though her speech writer should have known better. I doubt she's a very focused anti-Semite, though it's possible she has a generalized distrust of "those" people. Fact is she's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. Still, as a rather evangelical Christian, she's likely familiar with the term. If Alan Dershowitz trivializes the the use of the term "blood libel" it doesn't mean the concept is actually reduced to just any untruth. It has been literally used as the justification for executing and persecuting Jews for centuries. People bantering on the internet about who's a Nazi doesn't discount the real horror at the core of the term either. What I don't quite get is why anyone is listening to Palin anyway. She's not an elected official, she quit the only significant post she's held in her life, she's a failed reality show star, why don't we just ask Paris Hilton or Lindsey Lohan what they think about the shootings in Arizona?
  7. Really, I think Sarah is the unacknowledged 20th victim of the Arizona shooting. Poor thing, I hope she gets well soon.
  8. By referring to the "catholic mass" and that spurious hyperbole about "blood libel" Palin is clearly insinuating that she doesn't count Gabrille Giffords, Jewess, as among the "innocent" victims. Cry me a river Sarah, you're so persecuted! Did you hear that the liberal media canceled her reality show!
  9. Oh, I know that pose, that's the "don't look at me, I'm pooping" thousand yard stare pose. Ivan does that too.
  10. No, I think this country is swinging towards fascism. Right wing nut jobs are fine with this, while left wing nut jobs are not. Actually, I think Rob is more right than most of you folks. Yes, the political rhetoric in this country needs to be more responsible, but there isn't direct causation between Palin/Beck/Limbaugh et al and the recent shooting. It doesn't mean I don't think the right wing hate machine sucks green donkey dicks, I just think its really a stretch to lay the blame for this at their feet. Playing Grand Theft Auto doesn't make teenagers set prostitutes on fire, and right wing drama queens don't turn sane people into stone cold killers. Maybe maybe maybe the political discourse in this country helped steer Jared towards his target, but it wouldn't be any better if he'd chosen his community college algebra class as a target instead. The flaw is in the person. It reminds me of Travis Bickle more than anything...
  11. Gack, I can't handle anymore shooter blame-o-rama drama, I'm bringing back the damned housecats... [video:youtube]
  12. Sure, let's have the query in both locations, but to be fair we should have the eye candy here too!
  13. Here's another quick option - more healthy too! [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abTWUGwLa0c

    "That's so gay"

Why would you say "gay" when you mean "stupid" or "lame" unless you equate being gay with being stupid and lame? It's not that the word has an additional meaning, rather that the usage is deemed a minimally acceptable expression of bigoted stereotypes. Change up the words a little and see how it works for you. The next time your friend won't cover the tab at the bar, tell him that's mighty jewish of him. If enough of us do it we can just insist that it just means "cheap" and has nothing to do with the religion or ethnicity.
  15. This of the topic is locked. Go here to the related thread in the Climbers Board. It's not in Spray, so please behave appropriately.
  16. This truncated version of the topic is locked. Go here to the related thread in the Climbers Board. It's not in Spray, so please behave appropriately.
  17. Gene, I think its more about civil behavior than the dollars involved. People behave poorly at crags all the time, whether its stealing draws, leaving balls of used tape, cigarette butts, or poor poop etiquette. What's special here is that someone got their comeuppance in a very public manner, and it didn't involve the sort of fisticuffs internet tough guys like to spray about. I completely agree.
  18. Of much greater import to me is the fact we have three threads in different forums on this same topic. I wanna merge 'em, but where do they belong? Climbers Board? Rock Climbing? Oregon Cascades? Spray? Or maybe even Sensitivo so we can spread a little oil on these turbulent "should have beat them up" waters...
  19. The man's got a point, "ignore user" is definitely an option, though many people seem reluctant to use it for fear of missing a little drama or entertainment. Sort of like people can't help but clip the bolts when they're there, few seem to practice the "you don't have to clip them if they offend you" solution that some offer.
  20. FW, it was masterful the way you trolled Rob into revealing his Trekkie pedigree, well done.
  21. The good doctor hasn't posted in this thread that I'm aware of. Ian Caldwell is not DFA btw...
  22. Word on the street is that they're all worn through...
  23. It didn't regard Prole at all, and was clearly a joke involving a different somewhat unpopular poster and not a credible threat, but it still seemed just a little off in a gun thread so I deleted the one line. No big deal.
  24. I think maybe it was Sea Of Holes that had a crucial #10 hex placement in a hueco. A lot of the climbs on that front side are middling serious leads. The roped climbing there is pretty darn cool, but they sure make access a pain.
  25. Thanks for the clarification Max, your earlier post was not as clear as you might think, since I sort of wondered exactly the same thing Ivan said. I don't think he was being a dick, it just wasn't clear you were talking about only beefing up the broken knifeblades & RP nest belays. I think this sounds like a happy solution, bad belays are just not that admirable. Preserving the run out nature of some of the climbing would be a good thing though.
