Oh c'mon, Christianity still embraces the concept of original sin and puts it off on those disgusting women. At least Islam believes everyone is born pure. Jay, if you were an Orthodox Jew, every day you would pray, "Blessed be God King of the universe that Thou has not made me a woman." Of course, if you ask me, all that religious crap is about putting the boot on someone's neck.

That all depends on which version you check

"If they become tired or even die, that does not matter. Let them die in childbirth, that's why they are there" Martin Luther blah blah blah, you get the gist. Women aren't better off here than in some Muslim countries because this is a predominantly Christian culture, it's because we're a significantly secular liberal democracy. As Dru aptly pointed out, we're not done by a long shot. Witness the recent question, "Gosh, is it even possible a woman could be president?"

"What is the difference whether it is in a wife or a mother, it is still Eve the temptress that we must beware of in any woman......I fail to see what use woman can be to man, if one excludes the function of bearing children." St. Augustine

"No wickedness comes anywhere near the wickedness of a woman.....Sin began with a woman and thanks to her we all must die" (Ecclesiasticus 25:19,24).

I'm glad I'm not a gay member of an evangelical christian sect. link Check out the list of bands to avoid.

Cheney gets points for standing by his daughters and not flinching. The "out of line" protest is a little weak, since his party has definitely made an issue out of this, but not every Republican agrees with the party or the religious right.

Most of "our" Canadians are from BC as well, and maybe they're not so sure about the rest of you either...

You haven't been banned because you've never done anything that merits that rather extreme measure and you've always been a reasonable person to deal with. I don't really understand your problem with wide acceptance of pot smoking around here. I'm pretty sure you count Libertarians among your allies in pursuit of a smaller more limited federal government, and they're all about legalization. Unless I misread you, I'd think you support less government intrusion into private lives. I suspect your real objection vis-a-vis the teacher thing is actually their politics, and the drug issue is just a tool, like talking about the spotted owl when your real goal is logging restriction. But then again, I guess we won't be having that debate. As the Olympics moderator, I hope that when summer rolls around you might post a TR or two from that under appreciated range and share a little of your knowledge gained over the years there. It was the climbing that first drew you here, not the arguments, right?

British Columbia hiker falls 200 meters
Off_White replied to unethicalhiker's topic in Climber's Board
I saw this thread this morning and thought Rob & Dru's response was right on, a fair example of an occasion when a harsh response is appropriate, even on the Climbers Board. -
nope.

I have a country western 45 from an artist out that way titled "The Silent City of Rocks." Bought it at Tracey's in the early 80's sometime. Uhh, for all you young'uns, by 45 I mean a small vinyl record, like a CD single, not a pistol.

My thoughts exactly.

That's really a drag Lance, must have been horrible to come upon the aftermath. Tough guys get sad too, you have my sympathies.

Okay Winter, I peeled this off at a likely point and sent it down here for those who want to frolic. The original topic is still in the Rockclimbing Forum.

The Spray extension of this thread can be found here.

Tenino is where they move when all that Alaskan hoo hah gets boring and pedestrian.

Ummm, Kev and Pink? Dru's just winding you up to watch you spin. Here's a hint: you can't win by responding. I suppose it's possible you can just keep popping back up and see if you can wear him out....

Right, then you heard it here first!

Obama is simply too inexperienced. Senators get elected to the presidency rarely enough, much less a Senator who is only two years into his first term. It doesn't matter that he's black, it's that there isn't enough "there" there. That's not to say he couldn't be a strong contender some years down the line, I just think he's a premature nominate. Hillary seems too much a megalomaniac for me. Sure, anyone who wants that job has to have a pretty fair share of raw ambition, but there's something about her that puts me off. I'm left with the impression that winning matters a lot more to her than ideas do, and I think she's the most polarizing candidate the Democrats could offer. Not my first choice, but I would take her over Obama.

What, have you been living in a spider hole? I mean the Colo Springs Megachurch anti-gay loudmouth who was recently outed for frequenting male prostitutes and buying meth. It's usually the most strident who are the most latent, self loathing and all that.

Time was, you wanted to be a leader, not a follower...

The way you carry on, I'm pretty sure you've got a little bit of Ted Haggard inside you.

I wouldn't say pervert, but it seems a little strange. He doesn't appear to be a professional enough photographer for this to be some product shot for a catalog, so I don't understand why he'd pay $100 for a personal copy of some g-rated climbing cleavage. It's not like skin is rare in the modern prana top world. Maybe he's working on a series, but why can't he get this woman for a repeat session:
