  1. Forest Lawn/Pair a Grins - a great link up on the s end of the Rockfellows Abracadaver - if you're up for some 5.11 Knead Me - if you have a sick fascination with wide stuff Days of Future Passed - I liked it rather more than Goatboy did. Is it still 1/4" buttonheads on the face climbing? Inner Passage - this is the tunnel between a couple of the pillars, do it west to east and bring knee pads to have a better time. Ditto on Goatboy's other recommendations. I have the Kerry guide if you want to borrow it, but I'm down in the Olympia area.
  2. I'd like to have a good topo archived somewhere on the site so when the inevitable "I'm looking for beta..." request comes up, people can just be directed to the topo and we can skip all the wrangling over the familiar battleground. Maybe we also need links to the two or three best argument threads so aspirants can conduct research. This doesn't need to be a sticky in the forum, it can be as simple as a link in the RC Links thread in this forum, with the topo archived as a file on the server. Your topo, with your willingness to participate, would seem to not have any question of copyright issues attached to it .
  3. Well Peter, reading both of those links all the way through, it appears that the NYTimes doubly erred by giving Giuliani a page at the same standby rate for a response with a guaranteed run date, thereby donating in kind to that campaign. Of course, the second time was clearly no mistake on the advertising department's part, but a deliberate flouting of campaign finance laws. You must be terribly outraged by this second turn of events! Easy man, no need to bust a gasket, best you should take a deep breath, perhaps take a nitroglycerin tablet. After all, friends don't let friends self-induce heart attacks.
  4. I downloaded Acronis True Image 10.0 as a fully functional free trial and it did a good job of formatting a new hard drive. No, umm, it didn't allow me to clone my hard drive and run the same copy of XP Pro on two computers, so don't ask.
  5. Well, at least it sounds like we have a clear case of bias on the part of an advertising sales rep, sales people are never incompetent or make mistakes.
  6. I've had great trips that time of year, though you will inevitably have a little storm/cold/rain/snow blow through. A day or two later you might be in shorts and the upper 70's. Don't forget that Castle Valley Ranch is a little lower and warmer, and the hot spring/pool in Almo is a splendid timewaster (that will also devour your hard won calluses). We did decide to go a little earlier this year, Oct 6 to 16, just to increase the number of warm days.
  7. The bridge, to royal columns, is just fine now. You'll have a great cragging trip. Andy Fitz has replaced much of the old hardware at Moon Rocks, an area that might suit a gentleman of your talents.
  8. I don't much watch TV, so aside from the nasty chicken boned blonde in the center I don't recognize those people, but my understanding of set theory suggests that Fairweather may have several of their autographs.
  9. Thanks for the news, nice to have a happy outcome.
  10. I'm feeling capricious, take the weekend off Seahawks.
  11. I believe if you park on the road instead of a lot you don't need a permit. That's always worked for me, but maybe I've just been lucky. There's ample free camping. One option is to turn on the dirt road just east of a bridge that crosses the river. It climbs a hill, and you should turn right at the first intersection. Road drops down a hill and runs along the river, stacks of free sites along that way. Option B would be to go up the Soup Creek Road as per Lava Point, supposed to be good free camping up that way too, though I've never done it. The one thing to worry about with dogs is the rattlesnakes. I haven't had any encounters the last couple times, but I've also had trips that average 3 snakes per day, so make your own call. I've always chosen to leave my geeky overly curious excessively in your face dogs at home, but your creatures may vary.
  12. My first thought on seeing the thread title was that you were moving back west, but this is a bigger deal than mere location. Congratulations.
  13. Stetattle Creek? It gets pretty ugly in there, tried to approach the Pickets that way back when there was no beta but Beckey.
  14. Has anyone actually seen ChucK since that month long trip to Thailand?
  15. Sorry to be such an American, but I'm used to Grade III or IV referring to the overall length or time involved in a route, only related to difficulty in that hard routes tend to take longer to do. Trainwreck, you seem to be using the term in some other context?
  16. Huh, I thought the ACLU was some tendon in your knee. Where's Mike Layton when we need him?

He was killed by an unarmed man?
  18. Weather's clearing up, looks good for tomorrow night. I'll be off doing parent duty at the high school open house, but that doesn't mean ya'll shouldn't come on out and have a good time.
  19. From your friends at REI: Don't be thinking you're going to put it in the washing machine either...
  20. Just heard on the radio that he's fine, apparently he called 911 to report in. I confess that Mattp and Catbirdseat were the first two people to spring to mind when they mentioned a missing climber at Darrington.
  21. A little sport climbing at Mazama on Saturday afternoon, a little chilly work on E Face Lexington Sunday, not getting started until after the sun left the face. After three pitches of numbish toes, cold fingers, and wearing jackets, our party of three bailed out to go eat Mexican food in Arlington. Nothing TR worthy to be sure, but a trip in any case. Lovely weekend out there.
  22. Kennesaw, GA and Virgin, UT. A proposal in Aumsville, OR failed. That's from a 2001 article ( source ) so there might be a few more now too. Greenleaf, ID is a 2007 addition to the roster. Hardly a vast trend, more of a legal oddity similar to places with laws against spitting on the sidewalk, but three is a number.
  23. That tree-fall story from the Apron is gruesome, glad you two were okay. Nice TR, looks like a great family vacation.
  24. Crux and Fairweather, I hope you don't mind that I saw fit to delete that exchange, it was a wee bit beyond my patience today.
