Ursa, I'm headed to Hood on sunday as well, trying to get in a little more conditioning. What time are you going to be up there?
-
YES!! Very interested, what do you have in mind Rob?
-
Sooo, what does anybody have planned for this coming weekend? Any plans for climbing in the rain, going to the gym, drinking yourself into oblivion...
-
Why May 3rd and not earlier?
-
Hey Iain, didn't you read, the mighty DFA has given up bolts and is now looking to be the trad master he always wanted to be.
-
First pitch of Sheer Stress .10a. I'd say that the only real .10a part of that climb is the first 15-20 feet (gear placements can be ackward) then it's fairly easy steps and a fun move around the arete to the chains. I suppose pump could be a factor near the end, but I'm sure that DFA would never experience such a thing as that.

Gandolfs grip! Broughton Bluffs

Does it have to be Hood River or can you look in Portland?
-
"No, it's just ice cream!" Dude, not very funny when you're looking at a picture of a baby

Too bad you weren't there to defend yourself. He said you were working off your winter fat storage at Smith trying to keep up with him! J/K That's no lie, the boy hit that one right on the head. As soon as I teach him how to clean the anchors, I wont ever have to lead those runout itches again.

I asked him if anybody smacked him upside his mellon and he was like, "yeeeaah, what was that all about?" He said that you might want to take some lesson on how to flip somebody shit. Craig wasn't all that happy with his results, didn't feel like he gained any real momentum the whole day. Thanks for helping set routes and spending your free time working as a judge. It's all the volunteers that really help these comps run smooth. Some of those kids are simply amazing!

b-rock and I made a Smiffy day trip. Crowds were non-exsistant, weather was cool, but not to bad, even when it started to snow. Ran into Ivan and Rbw on the way out. All in all a good day!

I went through the same thing when my wife and I were looking at life insurance. We actually ended up with fairly reasonable rate from Allstate. Good luck

Most stuff over at S.W. is trad or top rope, but like E said there has been a ton of bolting in recent years, so it could be either.

Ryland, Not this time, so far this season I have driven my son to Cascade Crags, Vertical World and Inclimb for his comps. I'm headed to Smith for a little "ME" time. Besides, he's getting pretty good and I need to climb more just to keep up, not that I mind having a ropegun in the house. His name is Craig, if he gets in your line, give him a whack up side his head and tell him it's from me.

If anybody is interested or bored this weekend, there will be a jr. climbing comp at the Crux on Saturday. Come support some of the best jr climbers in the NW.. Some of these kids are freakishly strong and there is no cover charge to watch.

Zach was one of the owners, he and a couple of others pulled their money together to form the "A.C." and buy most of Eagle Suns inventory. I didn't do a lot of climbing back then, mostly B.C. skiing and a few snow covered peaks. Hung out at the Rogue Brewery a lot before the big flood. Most of my time was spent either in school, mtn biking, or on the river and of course consuming as much as possible. It was college after all!

Didn't Robyn work downtown in the Kiosk? I barely new the big guy, I believe that his name WAS Nigel. The guy I knew best was Zach Kaufman and a guy we call Scotty(never knew his last name)

Yeah, thanks guy's, it really sucks. She was only 5, had her since she was 7 weeks. It was a real flukey deal, if she was a horse it would be called "foundering" basically she got a kink in her intestines and it caused her insides to explode. It's a terrible thing to witness, very painful for the animal and very little you can do to fix it. I cried like a baby, but it completely destroyed my son, he cried so hard, it was worse than loosing my dog because there was nothing I could do to comfort him.

I was there from 89-96, did a lot of stuff with the some of the local rafting companies, Eagle Sun (before they got bought out) then the Adventure Center, even managed a little trip or two with Noahs. Good times, great place

Sal, I wonder if we have the same neighbor. This guy comes walking down our street everyday about the same time, with this white cat on a goddamn leash AND he's talking to the f'ing thing. Back before my dog died last week, she would sit in our front yard mesmerized, until the cat and owner got just about even with her, then she would freak out, start barking and chase them to the end of our property. As if to say, "HEY FREAK, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, IT'S A DAMN CAT!..BARK..BARK..BARK!"

Hey DFA, when did you live in Ashland? Your mention of Toothpick brings back great memories of the sweet mtn biking down there. When I lived above OSF, I could head out my back door, up through the park, onto loop road and ride all the way up to mt. A, then head down for the smooth, fast and terribly to short toothpick trail....ahhh to be back in college!

I remember when Charlies had a saw dust floor so that when the drunk fishermen and natives got in fights and started swinging knives the blood was easier to clean up.

Anyone interested in climbing in the gym this week
sketchfest replied to meditate001's topic in Climbing Gyms
I'll be at SW tonight and Thursday. $10 for a day pass and still no lead climbing (waiting on the draws apparently)
