  1. I went through the same thing when my wife and I were looking at life insurance. We actually ended up with fairly reasonable rate from Allstate. Good luck
  2. Most stuff over at S.W. is trad or top rope, but like E said there has been a ton of bolting in recent years, so it could be either.
  3. Ryland, Not this time, so far this season I have driven my son to Cascade Crags, Vertical World and Inclimb for his comps. I'm headed to Smith for a little "ME" time. Besides, he's getting pretty good and I need to climb more just to keep up, not that I mind having a ropegun in the house. His name is Craig, if he gets in your line, give him a whack up side his head and tell him it's from me.
  4. If anybody is interested or bored this weekend, there will be a jr. climbing comp at the Crux on Saturday. Come support some of the best jr climbers in the NW.. Some of these kids are freakishly strong and there is no cover charge to watch.
  5. Zach was one of the owners, he and a couple of others pulled their money together to form the "A.C." and buy most of Eagle Suns inventory. I didn't do a lot of climbing back then, mostly B.C. skiing and a few snow covered peaks. Hung out at the Rogue Brewery a lot before the big flood. Most of my time was spent either in school, mtn biking, or on the river and of course consuming as much as possible. It was college after all!
  6. Didn't Robyn work downtown in the Kiosk? I barely new the big guy, I believe that his name WAS Nigel. The guy I knew best was Zach Kaufman and a guy we call Scotty(never knew his last name)

    Cats?

Yeah, thanks guy's, it really sucks. She was only 5, had her since she was 7 weeks. It was a real flukey deal, if she was a horse it would be called "foundering" basically she got a kink in her intestines and it caused her insides to explode. It's a terrible thing to witness, very painful for the animal and very little you can do to fix it. I cried like a baby, but it completely destroyed my son, he cried so hard, it was worse than loosing my dog because there was nothing I could do to comfort him.
  8. I was there from 89-96, did a lot of stuff with the some of the local rafting companies, Eagle Sun (before they got bought out) then the Adventure Center, even managed a little trip or two with Noahs. Good times, great place

    Cats?

Sal, I wonder if we have the same neighbor. This guy comes walking down our street everyday about the same time, with this white cat on a goddamn leash AND he's talking to the f'ing thing. Back before my dog died last week, she would sit in our front yard mesmerized, until the cat and owner got just about even with her, then she would freak out, start barking and chase them to the end of our property. As if to say, "HEY FREAK, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, IT'S A DAMN CAT!..BARK..BARK..BARK!"
  10. Hey DFA, when did you live in Ashland? Your mention of Toothpick brings back great memories of the sweet mtn biking down there. When I lived above OSF, I could head out my back door, up through the park, onto loop road and ride all the way up to mt. A, then head down for the smooth, fast and terribly to short toothpick trail....ahhh to be back in college!
  11. I remember when Charlies had a saw dust floor so that when the drunk fishermen and natives got in fights and started swinging knives the blood was easier to clean up.
  12. I'll be at SW tonight and Thursday. $10 for a day pass and still no lead climbing (waiting on the draws apparently)
  13. Normally I climb at Stoneworks Tue/Thurs, especially Thurs as my son has jr. team practice and I pick him up. I would be interested in clipping some bolts while pulling some plastic, what is the routine for getting belay or lead cert down there? Maybe PC with some folks afterward.
  14. It would be helpful if you let everybody know where you are located.
  15. I will unfortunately have to miss this weeks festivities, however I will be pretending that you all are with me over in Black Butte while I hold my own solo pub club in an attempt to drown out the noise made by my children and their friends as they run around doing what kids do best.
  16. Dude, you know I want to, but I got too much family shizzy tonight, just can't break away.
  17. Smith is a vortex, it never rains there.
  18. Hey mtn! did you do the 5 or 10K? and when the HELL are we drinking!!
  19. I'm no doctor, but I play one on TV, having gotten that out of the way and having spent some marathon-ish time with Norman, I can say from my experience that he knows what he's talking about when it comes to medicine and proper training for endurance activities. I am also a relative new comer to ultra endurance training, but have learned a couple of things lately that have certainly made it easier for me to continue training long after I would have normally stopped. Hydration is obviously the number one key to survival, but I was finding that water, although good, was really not working to keep me properly hydrated, that's when I remember what the good doctor told me right before he left me in the dust, "Try filing your water bottle with Pedialyte" This stuff works better than cytomax or Gatorade plus it seems to keep me from getting hungry as quickly. Sorry so long winded and with no particular point, just wanted to put a plug in for Pedialyte.
  20. Yes it is true, my company is installing all of the aluminum and glass on PRG's new place.
  21. I'll be down Thursday (3-27/3-30) through the weekend, staying at the Butte, could be looking to bring my wifey into town for some beverages.
  22. When I was growing up there used to be a little burger joint across the street from a Safeway, it was called "Herffy's" I doubt it's still there, but anybody know?
  23. Search Is On For Overdue Snowshoer Volunteers Look For Portland Man PORTLAND -- Search and rescue experts are looking for an overdue snowshoer on Mount Hood. Fred Frauens left Timberline Lodge at 10 a.m. Sunday to explore the Hogsback area. His wife, who was waiting at the lodge, reported him missing in the around 6 p.m. Frauens is an experienced hiker but has little mountaineering experience. Apparently, he was poorly equipped, was not prepared to stay overnight and was not carrying any electronic devices, such as a cell phone or emergency locator. The freezing level dropped to 3,000 feet, and up to four inches of snow was expected Monday. The Clackamas County Search and Rescue Unit, as well as volunteer searchers with Portland Mountain Rescue, Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue, Multnomah County Explorer Post 631 and the Mt. Hood Snowmobile Club, joined the effort on Monday. Anybody know this guy?
  24. Saturday was the first USCCA Junior Comp of the season held at the Redmond Vertical World. I would like to say thank you to all of the staff and volunteers that helped to put this comp together and helped it run fairly smoothly. There were plenty of judges, belayers and well marked routes that kept most of the lines to a minimum and all of the kids focused on climbing. So on behalf of the StoneWorks team (of which I am not a member or spokesman) thank you to all.
  25. Did you guy's go? How were the conditions? Where's the TR?
