  1. Uhh..yeah, ummm brock, you might want to stop using that carnival mirror to judge what looks good and what doesn't!
  2. You could, but he probably wouldn't be there for long because somebody would probably steal him as climbers booty.
  3. That seems pretty wierd that they just call and tell you that they wont do a resole, there must be a reason. I've seen them take shoes that I thought would be better off in the trash, rework them almost like new and have them back in a week. Was it REI that called or mtn soles? Maybe it's just REI that doesn't want to deal with them, you might try OMC or mountain supply. Unless of course the shoes got some serious funk, then you might just think about a new pair.
  4. Last year we foolishly carried a 9mm x 50m rope, this was way more than was needed, both in length and diameter. This year I have a line on 30m of ice floss. I don't think carrying the rope with us is going to be as big a deal this time around. We also brought along a few tricams for the summit, but having now experienced the summit block, I think there is enough places to weave the rope we should be able to leave that little bit of weight behind as well. Norman, Joshk, what do you guy's think?
  5. Josh, I am just an ordinary average schmuck who enjoys getting out and pushing myself to my limit and beyond every once in awhile. The only sport I ever did on a competitive level, and not very well, was road and mtn biking. I definitely wouldn't EVER call myself a runner because if you saw me coming you wouldn't need a stop watch to keep track of my pace maybe something more like a sundial. That being said, when NC, PP and I did this last year at a walk going in and a semi-jog coming out, my legs burned for three days afterward. My pace was slowed by several key issues like the wrong shoes and a pack that was to f-ing heavy. Remembering all of that throughout the last year has helped me stay focused on doing it again in the sub 24 range and pushed me to run more often than what I did before. I don't think you need to be a runner to take part in this little adventure, but I think it will help your body deal with the brutality that is to come.

Damn! I thought this thread was going to be about PUPPY PORN of the day
  9. Yeah that is funny, but what I can't figure out is how you got that sheep so high up on the mountain.
  10. Hey Fe, I'm doing good! I haven't done much climbing this summer because of that race in Aug. I'm looking forward to getting back into the hills to do something other than ride my bike, why does training have to be so darn hard?
  11. Well my VERY unscientific research tells me this: since I posted this question I have experimented with Cytomax, before during and after my workouts in an attempt to distinguish any difference in the way my body "feels"after an intense workout. My perceived "feeling" is that I am able to sustain a higher intensity level during the training episode and my recovery times after seem shorter. I have also noticed a distinct drop in lingering lactic acid in my legs. So, placebo or not, Cytomax seems to work as advertised. (for me anyway)
  12. Waaaa! I can't get the attachments to open
  13. Norm, talk with sketch too. I can't remember when, but I think he was planning for another sufferfest. Currently, I am planning on giving this another shot on the weekend of Sept. 20th. I think this will be enough time for me to recover from the 100 mile sufferfest that I will be participating in at the end of Aug. in CO. Remembering how strong you and Norman were when we tried it before, I can only imagine the hurt that Norman would put on me now that he's REALLY been training. Although I think I'm going to be better prepared this time, read: lighter F-ing pack, NO hiking boots. So Norm, if you think you might want a partner, who can't guarantee that he can keep your pace, shoot me an email
  14. Yeah, I got one too. For a survey about the wilderness, they only really want to know about a couple of places: Hood, Adams, N. Sister
  15. DFA, where did you get this info? That'd be sweet if it's true, but I need some proof before I wonder in to find out its BS and get a big fat ticket.
  16. Ry, Is that just drinking the Cyto after the strenuous activity or during as well? Thanks
  17. Which is better for electrolite replacement, before, during and after exercise and why? anyone know or really care?
  18. Yeah, I didn't think that the "training cell.." thing was a reality, just something I had started to wonder about. I have undertaken some fairly physical endeavors at "NW" altitudes, but I have never pushed myself at competition level while at 10K. I'm not so worried about the mileage as I am about the combination of dehydration and altitude. Either way, I figure I'm gonna get my ass kicked and try to figure out why exactly I paid good money to do this. The race is called the Beavercreek Ultra 100, used to be called the Vail 100, I think the Leadville is 1 or 2 weeks before the Ultra.
  19. There is none better than the Sanction, Clint
  20. Bets on Timmy
  21. What's the web address?
  22. Classic!
  23. Pete, It depends on what you are comfortable climbing. Even though I was being a worry-wort, when I was there last summer and asked the team to stay roped and put in a piece or two, it wasn't really necessary as I found out. It's really just a class 5-ish scramble and the 5-ish part is really short. I think we only ended up using a tricam or two and mainly just threading the rope around natural formations. Good luck, let us know where you meet the snow .
  24. Got a photo?
  25. Shred, what up, I can't get the link to open. Help me I'ma computer gaper.
