  3. Interesting excert gotterdamerung. However, I am reminded of the fact that it took almost 4 years of European war and a direct attack on American soil for our leaders to enter WWII. The national and world leaders in the mid-30's were a band of appeasers, with a few bright spots of determined, stolid leadership (Churchill, FDR). American men were chomping at the bit to help our allies, but our leaders hesitated. It wasn't the American, or even Allied, political leaders who made our achievements in WWII so great; it was the fighting men and tacticians of that "hero" generation (as they are called).
  4. In some ways he was, at the time. He restored pride in being German and turned the economy around. Of course, the obvious downside was the millions of dead Jews, slaughtered slavs, and bombed out cities. Read "The Arms of Krupp", it's an interesting profile of not only the Krup family, but the inner workings of WWII German industrialism.
  5. Not in the least. My climbing is driven by almost the exact opposite of this dork. Maroons like this toad make me laugh is all. In my view, you miss half the experience of climbing if you don't stop to look at the beauty of your surroundings once in awhile. yeah...what he said! I dig those prana top fillin's...they so bootiful!!!! No wonder your wife doesn't let you climb much. man, she looks good in those tops...trick is gettin' her to go climbing...still workin' on that one... I'm going to attempt to use the kids as leverage/extortion!! If they're too small to do yard work or mow the lawn, you might as well get some use out of them.

  7. Don't mistake rage for inane energetic babbling by a 140# pimply-faced punk with thick glasses.

  10. What about Angel's Crest and Rock On? I know some don't consider AC a stellar, classic climb because there's some "hiking" in between pitches, but the location is unbeatable.

  12. He's beyond enthusiastic, you stupid dick. He's annoying. You're a fucknut for even being on his side.
  13. "Loyalty is my honor"
  14. Sad part is that that dickneck probably believes that shit deep down. The funny part is that he's probably 140# soaking wet and couldn't slap anybody upside the head. I'd like to see that pathetic twerp step up to somebody and start spouting; he'd get his ass handed to him. On a philosophical note, I think it's sad that he will only feel successful when he's comparing himself to others; he'll never find fulfillment or peace that way.

  16. what I need is someoome to create a system I can use and teach it to me. Just a simple system 'when this then this' type of thing. When there is slack, take it in. Make long butterfly loops over your tie-in as you take in rope; repeat as necessary until joined at your belay by the body tied to the other end of the rope. If it gets tangled, you'll die. thanks smart ass Anytime. More advice: wear sunscreen, don't eat yellow snow, and be nice to old people.

  18. Yup.
  19. Better to post for 'a friend', than post a personal ad like snugtop did.
  20. Stupid shit like this pisses me off. This little girl is not required to say the pledge if she doesn't want to. This asshole is using his daughter to further his own anti-religion agenda. That's fucking pathetic. And, cbs, regarding his legal authority as her guardian, it sounds like he sees her on weekends. So, technically, her mother is her primary LEGAL guardian because she spends the majority of her time at that residence; that's how custody agreements and parenting plans work. On a broader front, why does this guy feel that he can remove the Pledge for everyone else, too? There's enough out there that detracts from America; kids in this country ought to be exposed to what a great and unique country this is, as well as a love for country. What's wrong with that? I repeat, no one is forcing kids to say the Pledge; they have the option to stand silent.
  21. Wow, you passing up on a chance to chestbeat. Are you ill?
  22. Spent my weekend going to graduations (congrats roomies!!), eating, and hanging with the g/f. Saw the Metallica documentary at the SIFF last night; was pretty good.

    Flaming SUVs

Put that fuck inside an SUV and start it on fire. That's a fitting punishment.
  25. [quoteFunny, I was just thinking about alternative vehicles...I bet electric drivetrains would be awesome for trucks. Imagine a single motor mounted to each wheel. You could completely do away with clunky old-tech 4WD systems. Navigating off road would be much easier if the vehicle's computer could independently power each wheel to gain the best traffic. On the highway only two motors would run. That would be really neat. This technology has bee in use for years in large-scale minehaul trucks. Electric traction motors are a killer way to get low-end power/torque, not to mention the "dynamic braking" is killer. These trucks were carrying 120-tons to 240-tons of ore at a shot. It was great fun as a draftsman in college, climbing all over truck frames 20' in the air mapping hydraulic lines. 8' tall tires, radiators the size of two pool tables, 16-cylinder Detroit Diesel powerplants...
