    Canoe?

Hey, I'm wondering if anyone has a canoe (and paddles and shit) I could borrow this weekend. Ross Lake Resort wants like $24 a day. Planning on doing some canoe camping.
  4. I don't see a problem with taking beginners to PG; given that they are fit and up for a challenge. However, before we left the ground, I would be sure to go over EXACTLY what is going to happen, what their part is and what I am going to do. I have used this method before and it works. I would say the fault was with the leader.
  5. No worries, kid; we're just funnin' ya. I can't climb that hard or bold, so I'm impressed. I was genuine in my accolades.
  6. That was my guess. You know NOLSe is just waiting for someone to ask, "Oh, gee whiz, NOLSe, did you climb GIRTH PILLAR??!!? Holy fucking shit, you are hot shit, dude! Will you ropegun 'Classic Crack' for me? Wow!!! GIRTH-fucking-PILLAR, man; that's fucking hardcore, dude! NIIIIICCCEE!!!" And then he'll show at Pub Club having never been to one before just to see how much climber-girl pussy gets thrown his way. Way to go, NOLSe.

  8. Oops, you're right. My mistake.
  9. Some divers carry bang-sticks that fire a .357 Magnum round. Don't know how well they work, I've just seen them advertised in the dive mags. Beck - crawl back into the bottle, you were a lot more tolerable then.
  10. That was me...what are you saying?

    Kurtz is dead

That is fucking wild!!! With some time on my hands last night, I went to pop in a DVD and picked up "The Score" with Brando, DeNiro, & Edward Norton. Good flick, but kinda interesting that I picked that movie and he died yesterday.
  12. Whenever gun use is brought up, it seems that the term "paranoia" couple with some sort of NRA-bashing is the normal response. Being that the NRA is the bastion of gun rights, whenever you malign the NRA I presume that you do not believe in gun rights (which you probably don't). If I'm in a cougar-sensitive area, my gun is not in my pack; it's on my hip.
  13. icegirl sent me to Dr. Pierce Scranton (offices in both Seattle & Kirkland) for my knee some time back. He's great. Was the O.S. for the Seahawks for 20-odd years, works on athletes, climbed back in the day...

    July 4th Food

    Yum!!!!
  15. GregW- Most cougar attacks are from behind on solo travelers. You got rear view mirrors on your hat? Or just more random NRA paranoia? Cougar attacks average under 10 per year for the past decade. You'd better your odds at a long life by backing up your slings everytime you rap. I was just providing news, like everybody else does on this site. Why do you feel the need to turn this into an "random paranoia", NRA-bashing thing? I'm sure you're some limp-wristed liberal anti-gunner who hides behind the big, bad Federal Government to provide you your rights. Fuck off. I say the guy was right on for taking action to protect himself; especially since there was an earlier attack in the area. Given that a cougar can leap about 30' from a crouch, having the ability to "reach out and deliver pain" makes me feel a little safer.
  16. It's GNR, dude, don't over-analyze it.
  17. "...I used to do a little, but a little didn't do it, so a little became more and more..."
  18. Already gone. Catbirdseat's a winner!!!

    Poverty

I ride both horses: Main check comes from a mid-sized GC, supplement my income with my own business ventures. I can't see how an independent businessman (or woman) can be a proponent of larger government intrusion, taxation, paperwork, etc.
  22. True. I do it as I feel it is merited.
  23. Clip into anchor with daisy or other sling with locker; two points of anchor are preferred. Take a length of rope up and tie an overhand-on-a-bight and clip this to a biner on your harness. Untie and thread through chains. Once you have sufficient rope through chains, unclip knot from biner, untie it, and continue threading the rope until you get halfway, or it touches down with sufficient extra. Sometimes, I'll thread the rope, tie another knot in the rope, clip that one off before unclipping the other, but that's being overly safe. Once you have sufficient rope to reach the deck, set up your rappel device and unclip from the anchor and descend.
