No cause for concern here. Younger voter means better schools. Older voters means less funding for education. Our education system is what puts us in the top position. The less educated we are, the more likely we are to vote for Bush or someone like him. The more likely we are to trust our government instead of reading newspapers and writing to our people in congress. No Child left behind was a smoke screen for cutting education and putting the burden back on the states.

PTSD was around after WWII. It was called "shell-shocked". They just didn't treat mental issues in those days. Didn't know how. Still trying to figure it out. It might be easy to fake and may be a Mailgerer's condition in some or many cases. But it also takes a harsh toll on really good people and their families. Sweaping it under the carpet is no different than letting amputees lie untreated in hospitals. It can be just as life changing and life threatening. Hard to swallow if you are an amputee for sure. But amputees handle their new issues differently just like other people handle being Shell-shocked differently. I do disagree with giving out purple hearts for ptsd. But there also needs to be an honorable way to acknowledge the sacrifice that was made.

I weighed in earlier. The faster Obama tries to change things, the more likely it is that he will lose seats in Congress in 2010. he voters have clearly spoken that we need to move left of Bush/Palin governing and campaign styles. People are afraid. The economy brought home the reality that the Bushites really do not have it al figured out. Many on the right, were too comfortable listening to Rush and beleiving it all. That crumbled in October. But before that, there was a building sense of dread about the new ways Bush was exercising Presidential authority. If every president has the authority to write in changes to laws at the time of signing, what will Congress be other than a research branch? If we do not have to follow long established international laws nor work collaboratively with the international community to change them, then how long can we stay on top and what will happen to us if another empire rises to the top economically/militarily? China for instance - by 2020 they will almost certainly the largest economic force in the world. Under Bush we have been acting like a schoolyard bully. We cannot expect to be treated differently unless we change before we lose the position of being the dominant power on the planet.

Coming soon to a factory near you.

Calm down. I said "Pull out as soon as sanely possible yes. Just not overnight." You Said "Bullshit" and soforth. I am not sure how I was supposed to "know what you meant" if you didn't mean bullshit to "Pull out as soon as sanely possible yes. Just not overnight." You aren't channelling K now are you?

More people would die in the 30 days after than have died so far. It just wouldn't make sense. Give them a slow but steady drawback to 50% over 6 months. Let them determine the pace from there.

Do you remember what happened when we puled out of South Veitnam that way?

Hmm. So like, pack up on Jan 21 and move out? Seriously?

I do not think we should have invaded Iraq. Bush broke our own laws and international law by doing so. Obama voted against it. But now that we are in Iraq, it would be a mistake to just pick up and pull out. Pull out as soon as sanely possible yes. Just not overnight.

The Iraqis are stepping up. In "Diplomat speak" they are calling for the US to back off and plan on getting out. If they did not say that, they would be seen as puppets by their own followers. Meanwhile, the US has to make clear overatures toward acquiescing to the Iraqi demands so as to give them the power they need to succeed at truely governing their own people and controling their military when it is re-established. That time line is grey but needs to be "played" as existing for the reason above. That is probably the only real difference between GW and Obama on the war in Iraq (now that we are in). Bush just had no sense of diplomatic protocol internationally.

Uh yeah whatever...I'm hoping that he, not to mention the rest of us, have bigger issues to deal with. Don't make me call you a commie pinko bastard. Oops! Guess you know what I think now. Or maybe you just don't understand sarcasm.

"I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Regan thing about doing any seances." Poor choice of words. Unpresidential. Black man beats up old lady. He definately screwed the pooch on that one and should apologize profusely before he gets raked over the coals by her highness.

I've read that Harry Reid might be on his way out (of his leadership position) soon too. He's got ethics issues-a-plenty...and Hillary needs to be thrown a bone. BTW; I thought it was pretty un-classy of Obama to take a shot at Nancy Reagan today. And was it just my imagination, or was Obama talking about his tax plan in the past-tense? i missed this - what did he say of mrs. just-say-no? Dry as toast?

One engineering student rides up to another engineering student on a brand new bike. "Wow! nice bike. Where did you get it?" "I was walking by the dorm over there and a girl had her hair stuck in her bike chain so I helped her get out. She took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want.""

Did you pick it up in area 51?

Unfortunately, there are a few democrats who could join that chorus. DC is a cess-pool.
