  1. Oh and I forgot to mention whitehorse for a training climb. You can drive right to the trailhead and it is like just under 6,000 vertical foot climb. I will give ya a shout when I head back if interested.
  2. Hmm, If you are training for those climbs specifically you should be training with a pack and a sorta heavy one. I have heard somewhere to carry water jugs on your training climbs and then dump em at the top to save your knees on the way down.
  3. Great trip, pic's, and lets just say inspiration-all. Way to go. You's guy's got the right stuff.
  4. You would think they would know better but for some reason that statement got me to thinking about Clinton.
  5. Wild things are having a decent sale on last year's product line. I picked up 2 windshirts pretty reasonable. http://www.wildthingsgear.com/lysale.html
  6. I may be a glutten for punishment. But heading back to whitehorse to finish it off. Last weekend was thrash (going up) crash (coming down) and bash (injuries we endured). Good recon though for this weekend.
  7. Anyone up for a climb this weekend? Good weather forecast, avvie danger stabilizing a bit. Whitehorse would be a closer alternative as well that I haven't done yet. Give me a shout.
  8. chrisT, thanks for the advice. I will give REI a shot at it. Kinda frustrating as I have only had it a year and sputtering out allready.
  9. I have that Nike ascent as well. Good unit. However, had it about a year and now needs a new battery. Chris T have you ever changed the battery? Damn if I can figure out how to open it up.
  10. Dustin, now that is original after reading the 2 above posts. If that is what you meant you would have spoke outa your mouth instead of outa your ass from the get go.
  11. Tony, thanks for the info. However, screwed there to as I bought them (new) from an outdoor shop through e-bay. Live and learn I guess. Have contacted Grivel by the way and have yet to hear from them.
  12. Yeah how bout up your ass pointed end first.
  13. Update on this snowshoe (grivel violino). Bought a pair, took em out today and a MAJOR pain in the ass. The binding is so cheesy with the 1 strap over the top and 1 strap around the heel there was horizontal heel play and every time your heel came down they would hit the tops of the metal things sticking up (see caveys pic above) causing your ankle to constantly twist. That was the good part (going up) coming down was a joke and no traction whatsoever. The selling point on these for me was that you wear your crampons on them. However, the fucking binding was so high that the points of your crampons barely cleared the bottom! And then the kicker, I noticed at one point the heel lifter bail on one completely fell off somewhere in 3 feet of snow with no luck of finding it. SOooooo in less than 1/2 mile with this GRIVEL CRAP they are now totally worthless. Oh yes did I mention GRIVEL sucks
  14. Stomp around in new snowshoes (grivel-violino's) maybe up granite. Hope they are better on snow cause around the backyard they SUCK
  15. Have not run across the new alpine mag. Figured it would be in that mag shop on university ave as they have everything. But not there. Any suggestions?
  16. Just curious and wondering if anyone uses those sport bottle looking thingys. Seems like you just scoop and go and there is some sort of filter when you take a drink?? I have always used the drop plop fizz fizz routine with iodine. However, that sport bottle filter seems like a good route. Kinda pricey though.
  17. Ray, didn't pay much attention to that aspect on the approach . Going through customs would suck but I think any route up that Mt. would be worth it ehhh. It's gonna be a good year.
  18. Alpine: Mt. Redoubt to get a good look at southern BC. up close. Mt. Constance to do something in the olympics this year. Stuart's north ridge. The kone-3 o'clock rock, back to finish it off. outer space and canary smith rocks-haven't been yet. Bouldering: sport sickness exit 38. worked on this many hours with no luck with nick frey.
  19. Breaking your teeth sucks. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.
  20. Like,Bushwhacking=solitude from the crowds. always able to find a challenge. dislikes, N. cascade hwy isn't open in the winter. Instead of having one fee to pay we are nailed at every area! But the pro's far outweigh the con's so here is one for the cascades
  21. Yeah but why would someone put an item up for sale with a his lowest price he was willing to go. Then at the last minute yank it? Maybe I offended him with my offer of $350 for most of his gear he had up for sale. who knows. Maybe he got a better offer than the one on ebay. NO biggie.
  22. I was interested as well. Had the high bid on his e-bay sale and he yanked em from me?
