  1. Chilliwack to Banff: 10 hours Chilliwack to Jasper: 8 hrs I've become a devotee of the 5 recently, minimal traffic once north of Kamloops and ends up being faster access to everything north of Sask River Crossing, including Weeping Wall area. You can even climb some of the ice in Blue River if you can catch it with no avvy hazard. You can see the pillar on La Vrai Nature du Bernadette from the highway. Most of the other stuff is fairly well hidden from pavement. Sadly though, they closed the Kava Cafe. And in general Valemount and Blue River are full of sledheads and heliskiers in the winter so it's not cheap to stay in either town. Plus you can stop off at Wells Gray on the way up for a couple burns on Spray On if you feel like it.

In a two-party state the far left and far right are not the issue. The middle swing votes are the issue. If the Dems veer a bit more right as the Tea Party takes the Repubs into the extreme right, then they will control the middle and ensure their own victory. It's only if both parties veer to the extremes and the middle becomes disaffected that the far right becomes able to win.

  19. Hey McGinnis, just got off the phone with Joe at Hormel. They have this awesome new "meat" you can try. Sure is great for climbing!
  20. You might notice in all those speedflying videos, the complete absence of TREES. Now take a look outside your window at the PNW and tell me what you see.
  21. Fat people should be rendered down for blubber, stem cells, and organs in that order. However, they may have the "fat gene" so the latter two products should be used very cautiously as they may make the recipients into fatties over time.
  22. This might be a tongue-in-cheek rhetorical question on your part, but I can only imagine the Smith Rock folks are a little edgy and conservative around fire since their own employee started that huge fire down there in the 90's that torched large swaths of the state park, eh? Which is not to say that it couldn't be managed appropriately now, but just pointing out the historical context to your question. Even before the park fire you couldn't have campfires at the bivi site. I recall that as being a big reason why people drove out to camp at the grasslands in the first place.
  23. You can probably fly down pretty fast with one but you might not get up afterwards
