Another "natural" fixative used for cosmetics is the waxy scum that rises to the top of aeration ponds in sewage treatment plants. Think about that next time you are putting on your lipstick (or kissing your lipsticked girl/boyfriend)

I think in the old days there was an incident or rumour of an incident of a Jumar frame breaking. So people started tieing the whole unit together with webbing. The Jumars have a cast frame, unlike most other ascenders which are bent up out of plate. other handy reasons for tieing up your Jumars - look way honed and cool (make sure to pre-wear duct tape so it's not shiny and n00b looking - maybe get dog to chew on it) - pads handles, makes more comfortable for hands - the bottom biner hole on the Jumar frame is narrow in diameter, but long through the frame and many modern locking biners don't fit nicely and bind up.

The snow at Mt. Rohr was dreamy and excellent this last weekend. Very fast powder.

I've met lots of people from this board, and climbed with quite a few. On the 2x2 matrix of (Cute enough for no-strings romp)/(Nice and normal enough to date) the (No/No) corner is vastly underpopulated compared to the rest - boys and girls all considered. The inability of some of you all to hook up probably just comes down to lack of communication. Here's hoping you all get lucky soon

and that's what every girl longs to hear. that you are "settling for" her

probably when you walk in the boots and articulate your ankle the sole flexes, the pivot point is at the ball of your foot. The AT binding locks out the flex in the sole, moves the pivot point forward of your toes. You are still trying to pivot at the ball of your foot and articulate your ankle, thus pulling your heel up because the sole flex can't accomodate. In true AT boots you wouldn't have as much ankle freedom. The AT skinning gait is different than either walking, or Telemark-gear skinning. Maybe try tightening your freneys, wear some thicker socks and experiment with a different gait - more Frankenstein stomp-style, don't bend your ankle as much.

Whistler BC saturday- epic (Also epic Steven's BC)

I went into Steep Creek off the Duffey Lake Rd. this last weekend. Similar near bottomless powder conditions, lots of recent storm snow - excellent tree skiing on east and northish aspects. Up higher looked wind hammered though. Evidence of natural slides both slab releases and sloughs from last week but all snowed under the most recent dumps. Trail breaking up the road would have been epic if not for the 500cc - should be good for the next few storms though with the packing down by multiple parties and the sled. Friends who dug a pit reported 2 easy compression test failures buried 1.5 meters down -

This is sad news. She was an awesome person and will be missed by many. It should be mentioned that this accident involved a very large natural release and that she was not skiing at the time but was making weather observations for a commercial lodge in an area believed to be safe. -

It gets 'climbed' a lot by the easy route and skied. It's an easy day trip with a snowmobile. And a common side-jaunt from the Neve ski traverse. The S. Ridge of Atwell sees lots of attempts when it's in condition and the weather cooperates usually more Feb/Mar time of year. It doesn't have the same sort of steep ridge/headwall geometry that the other cascade volcanos have though.

Winter Dance is an awesome guidebook ... for Montana/Wyoming/Idaho etc. this one may prove more useful for the Rockies: http://www.rmbooks.com/books/joswat.htm

you don't build your own. you follow the posted workout on the crossfit.com, either the current one, or look through the archives and find 5 years worth of them. It is worth digging into the crossfit site itself to understand better how the ideas of periodization and resting work within the crossfit framework. That site is a better resource for your question than this one.

Maybe that person forgot to preheat the thermos. That keeps your coffee warmer.

in hypothetical fantasy world I would place #2 above and equalize it to the hanger of #1 directly below it and not use a tie off anywhere.

number of trip reports is absolutely the best criterion for evaluating someone's credibility and experience. spot on.
