  1. i think revive x is the stuff i'm talking about. i was thinking it had "x-treme" in the name, but i guess just the "x" is enough to give you the feel of the kind for product we are talking about...
  2. can i get banned from cc.com for abusing myself?
  3. if ur in seattle jim nelson sells something in a little black spray bottle that works well on stuff like nylon and epic (don't remember the name, you can i'm sure find it other places though). i'm going to try it on my schoeller next time i get around to washing it.

For once I feel sorry for you. why does it take a tragedy for people to be real to each other? for the dearly departed

    For Kurt

i've heard a lot of women complain that all the good looking men are gay. of course i don't know a lot of straight guys who spend a lot of time preening in the mirror, spending bucks on a haircut, or working out for definition so i think it's pretty believable. then again most women don't put looks at the top of the list when it comes to choosing a mate, because looks are a guy thing. so if a women is focused on looks maybe she does have more of a "guys brain" and could be a gay man stuck in a womens body, eh?
  7. if it were a hardcopy journal i think it would have a much smaller readership and might get a little esoteric. that might not be a bad thing, of course. but anyway i think more people would read it if it were online. you could call it PNWAJ to avoid confusing canadians.
  8. Many trad/alpine climbers do. In fact most all that I climb with and/or know, also clip bolts (myself included) from time to time. That doesn't mean that they agree that people should just start bolting everything in sight. i think that much is pretty much agreed by most, but the critical point in the arguement is what consititutes "everything in sight".
  9. do you have a reference, besides a canadian drinking song, that canadian troops were among the british troops who actually did burn washington dc? i recall trying to look this up a while back and not finding any evidense that canadians where there, just brits.

  11. beck- i confess that i have no idea what the question is so i don't know if this is an answer, but local avalanche forecasting has always suffered from underfunding. avalanches impact humans by closing the passes and killing backcountry skiers. the gummint seems mostly just concerned about keeping the passes open. how about hobnobbing about how many people bc ski in the PNW and use the forecasts to help at staying safe? my only fear is eyes will light about about how to get money out of bc skiers with park passes etc. i think the problem with your posts like these about your "schmooze cruise" (buzz phrase copywrite lI1|1!) is it's the kind of schlock people head to the mountains to get away from.
  12. i was really busy at work and people started talking about planes flying into the world trade center and i figured it was some weird accident or something. then an email from my brother who lives in wash dc pops up saying him and the wife and kids are safely home and will stay there the next couple days. that's when i started checking cnn etc. i couldn't believe it. i grew up in the suburbs of NYC and could always see the towers on the manhatten skyline. i didn't think they could fall down like that. it dazed me. my cousin's husband was one floor below the first impact. he and a his coworkers barely got out of there alive after ignoring loudspeaker messages to stay put, chopping through walls, fighting through smoke, and timing their sprints across the plaza to dodge falling debri. about 40 alumni from my high school died, including this kid that was in my history class. dude was always joking around.

  22. plab plaberific horsecock dwayner i think the etymology of "plab" is fairly interesting. someone had posted here a while back about how it started from the cable tv quide icon for the playboy channel and came to mean a tossled hair look of those in adult vids and eventually anything cool in an absurd yet riveting sort of way.

    Can you do it?

yes. in fact many years ago i was TAing for a psychology class and the prof tried to use me for a class demonstration. he had me do a bunch of stuff like that (arms and legs rotating in different directions). unfortunately for the demonstration purposes i'm somewhat uncoordinated and i could do it all. he tried to save face by telling the class i was brain damaged.
  24. I don't have any direct experience working for the FS but this has been my impression as well. My only thing to add is that I have heard young people who work for the FS say there is a big generation gap effect going on in the FS where the older career types are as described above (pro big biz good ole boy types trying to keep their jobs till retirement) and the younger types who work for the FS because they like being outside and care about conservation. Obviously these are big generalizations but you get the idea. Some of these younger folks seemed to think things would change eventually with the new blood and different attitudes. I guess I'm a little more cynical. I think any organization is ultimately run by the money that funds it and the assholes that climb to the top of the pile. In the long run working for the FS is probably a POS job an idealistic person wouldn't stick with their whole career, or get pushed out of (see above post). So I'm guessing the next generation will be more of the same. Way of the world I guess.
