Take a pair of $8 200wt fleece liners, stick 'em in a pair of plain leather work gloves. Viola! Removable liners, tough enough to go big walling or logging for firewood, warm enough, windproof, dexterous, can strip down to just the leather for summer stuff, and cheap cheap cheap. Put some snow seal or nikwax or something on them to make 'em sticky and waterproof. This is my daily glove set-up. Windstopper gloves are great for cold weather biking, but I always tear them to pieces in short order doing anything remotely resembling climbing (two pairs destroyed in three weeks, gave the third pair to my dad). That's my $0.02

Who cares? The kids don't give a shit what the name of the school is, they just want to get laid, to have their older brother to buy them some beer, and to win the football game friday night...in about that order. Better take Jefferson and Washington off the currency too.

Metal shovel blades+ stove=huge hot-knifes. Metal coffee cup with sip lid + stove = vaporizer (try it!) Ice screw with middle pack loosely with snow=Chillum

Don't know if that link is specific to the Scarpas, but it looks a little oversimplified to me. Check out this one for additional perspective (US mens sizes on top, US Womens on bottom):

I have a FF Swallow, dryloft shell (no EPIC back when I bought it). I've been extremely happy with mine. As you said, attention to detail is superb. I've probably spent around 300 nights in this bag and it's got at least 300 more left in it. It WAS pricey, but I think it was worth it. In the same time frame, I've worn out two synthetic 15degree bags. I don't know what Sierra Designs has to offer in the ultralight down category, but in my experience with FF, TNF, Marmot, and SD bags, the SDs have been the best bang for the buck. I should mention that I also don't have your fat ass problem

Forbidden vid was a much better production than the other two I watched, the 11worth and vantage ones, which were pretty bad. I agree, I'd like to see more people putting up video. It looks like he's doing it to experiment and learn about the development of the vids as much as anything. Scrambler's right, with a new baby on the scene it's gonna be the West Ridge of Pampers, and the North Face of Osh Kosh for a while.

I don't think so. Don't you find irony in the fact that he's tagged his video clips "copyright 2003" but he's ripping off Ice Cube's copyrighted music in these video clips?
-
For real bro, weak video with your "ropegun" pitching off a 5.9 is not going to make you look good in the eyes of potential clients. Try a tripod, I needed dramamine to get through the clip. Other climbers rapping through your frame and their rope flying through the pic makes it look like circus time too. Ditto on the copyrighted music. Maybe cool for a home video you show to friends and family, not cool for something on the web.

I'll give you my $0.02. Take this with a grain of salt, it's criticism, not intended in bad faith. Cimbing shots:were ho-hum. An interesting perspective in one or two, but nothing that really made me take notice. Landscapes: had potential, but most missed the mark. To elaborate... 1. The 003 N Face of Ama Dablam was really nice as far as lighting, etc, but the nearer sub-peak on the right detracts from the image. Still a very nice shot. 2. The Ama Dablam and swinging bridge shot could have been superb. But, the lighting was not so good. If you could have caught this in morning or evening light it would be spectacular. I'd assume you took it as you were hiking through and couldn't hang around for that one image. 3. On the S. Face of Lohtse: Crop more @ top, there are branches in the top edge of the frame. The haze and midday lighting detract from the image's potential. 4. 002L, too contrasty, bland sky, would have benefitted from morning or evening light. People: I think this is the strongest collection on your page. Couple of comments. 1. On 020P, crop a little more off the right side, the lighter elements beyond the edge of the building draw the eye away. Otherwise I love this shot. 2. On 052, I'm a little conflicted. On one hand, the upper left corner's series of ridges gives a nice sense of being in the mountains, but the lightness of that area distracts the eye from the people. Also, the railing in the foreground is distracting. I would personally crop this image quite a bit at both the top and bottom. I'd crop the bottom just above the railing, and the top a little above the highest bundle that the nearest man is carrying but below the are where the very light area on the left starts. 3. On 045P, I'd try cropping just below the lens flare. It looks like there was a scratch on your slide from the highest spot of lens flare to the top of the frame, and with the two lens flare marks, I think it would be a better image cropped. It also eliminates alot of the cloudless sky of you crop it here. Many good shots in the people section! Thanks for sharing them.

I took 4 different tests (2 of them were very similar) this morning, you can maybe guess which was before the coffee: Tickle 138, Danish one 112, Belarus one 146, British one 137. Actually Dru, if you were an 18 year old and answered them all right, I believe you could score over 140. Age is factored in when computing the score.

Is that like the Jennifer Jason Leigh criteria? Like that movie Rush where the criteria was to do a bunch of smack and get freaky laid while wiggin out and digging through the carpet?

Ya'll talkin 'bout me? Bring it suckas

Well, since my folks' house was about 3 miles from the spot the photo was taken, you make your own judgement..."metropolitan" is a nice euphemism but straight up ghetto is a little closer to the truth. I'll put it this way: When the Olympics chose Atlanta, the population in the 10 block area surrounding that photo dropped by about 50% because they tore down the worst housing projects and moved them across town and away from the venues.

The Big Lebowski any Cohen Bros flick for that matter.

Compression is not the issue. RAW output is available on many mid-upper level dig cameras. While the sheer number of pixels will give you a general idea of the image quality, the specifics of the actual pixels themselves will also affect it (pixels can be different size, etc). The dynamic range is also an issue. Analog also has essentially a "maximum number of pixels" in that there are only so many dye particles in the emulsion on each frame. This is indeed a finite number. Still, a 35mm Provia 100F or Velvia slide, scanned on a high end drum scanner will have significantly higher res and quality than even the 6-8mp digis. There are digital backs for med format cameras made by Leaf and other specialty companies, that rival film. These backs alone run over $10k new. I have slides shot on Velvia and duplicates of the same shots from a Nikon digital from Yos this fall. I scanned the slides on a very inferior scanner - a 2800dpi with JPEG output. I cleaned them up in photoshop, and then cleaned up the digital files, and printed them both at 4x6. No comparison whatsoever, film blew it away. Given, this wasn't a pro-end digital, but it was a 5mp Nikon that would be in the range most non-pros could afford.

As far as I know, they still make them, but don't import them to the US. I think a UK or Japanese source would be your best option. Chances are, the big retailers like B7H or Adorama might still have some in stock. KEH is always worth a look too, I've been very happy with the EX or higher rated gear from KEH, they grade very conservatively.
