I think the "so what" here is that Israel could have made a more effective strike by taking out one of the lieutenants who actually do the strategic planning rather than the figurehead. While hitting the founder is a sweet little piece of revenge for Israelis, it's backlash will be severe, and the average Israeli is in more danger now, not less. What they really need are some faith-based initiatives, a constitutional amendment banning midget marriage, and to take care of that damn horrendous steriods problem among the professional camel jockeys.

You'll fit in real nice at the country bar now.

NO. I'm talking the US of A, exactly what I stated: dipping the toothbrush into plain ol chalk and then using the brush to rub it into the hold. Don't tell me you've never seen this? I've seen it in GA, AL, CA, TN, TX, UT...
-
ahh now don't be throwing more gas on the flames... Alright brah, keep in mind that I boulder, and tell me this: WTF is with the dippin' a toothbrush in your chalk bucket, and then scrubbing the chalk all over/into a hold? I see this everytime I go bouldering! WTF are these clowns doing? I sometimes brush holds to get stuff off of them...like excess chalk, dirt, etc. Why are these jokers gunking up the holds, obliterating the texture, and making a worse eyesore? Do they think this will really "improve" the hold? Or are they just imitating some other dumbass on a video or something. Please explain this to me.

Greg, she wants a date, I figured you would volunteer.

I think anyone who could tolerate 5 years in the POW camp and not lose his shit is pretty solid upstairs. Is he a little combative? Probably, but in a good way IMO. What was it he said to the NVA when they wanted him to sign some statement or give an interview or something in exchange for getting out of solitary? Told them "this is bullshit" and back in he went. I've heard him giving Sen Stephens (longtime AK republican senator) shit about all the pork he gets for AK. I like McCain, not everything he stands for, but more than most.

Go on a free soloing binge. Works for me.

I read an interesting poll yesterday. It seems that 50% of regular internet users classify themselves democrat, 25% republican, 16% independent, a few percent libertarian, a few undecided/unaffiliated. I guess there's not much else going on. Hunting season is over, the rivers and lakes are still frozen up here so fishing is out, Britney hasn't been tonguing Christina, and Jen-Ben is history. Might as well bag on the Shrub.

Lambone brings up a good point. If you clean with one jug and a gri-gri instead of two jugs, and the pieces are close enough together, you won't have clip clean or use a bight-lower-out. You can just clip the jug past the piece, let rope through the gri-gri at the bottom, and then reach back over and unclip the rope and clean the piece. This might sound weird, but it works really well and is not complicated when you see it. I really like cleaning pitches this way.

Two more things, when you're jugging roofs/traverses, clip the bottom of the jug handle to the rope to keep it from torquing off the rope, and tie in short. And, there is another way to lower out off a piece without using a separate rap line. You can clip yourself to the lower out point, tie in short above it, untie yourself from the end of the rope, and lower out that way. (Your rope below the tied in short point will run from your harness through the piece and back to your hand where you just untied.

You're rapping all the way to the previous anchor anyway. Leave your tag line or haul line fixed to the previous anchor and rap that line. You may have to rap, then use your jumars to pull yourself back to the anchor if there is a big roof or traverse. When you jug to clean, you'll be jugging the lead line, so getting back under the roof is a non-issue. Cleaning the roof or portions of the roof on rap are not the best idea for many reasons. Place plenty of gear in a roof, and don't back-clean any of your gear. This way, when you're cleaning, you can clip your way across the roof in your aiders just like you were leading it, pulling the previous piece once you are on the next one. If for whatever reason you can't clip-clean, you'll have to either lower out off a fixed piece using the duecey method (aka 4:1) for shorter lower outs or a separate rap line for longer ones. Another method, that is not recommended, is to jug to the piece, clean it, take the swing, jug up to the next piece, repeat. This is workable if the pro is pins that you can hammer out, or there are holds you can use to unweight the piece so you can pull it. Again, this is not a bright thing to do, and it's probably scary enough that you won't try it more than once. Traverses are very similar. Leave plenty of gear and clip clean or if there is a fixed piece to lower out from (or you're willing to fix a piece) and the gear is good, backclean the whole traverse while leading it. That way you can lower out one time and be done with the whole traverse. Same deal with the lower-outs, shorter ones (or slightly longer near the end of the pitch) you can duecey, otherwise rap off the fixed piece with another line. "Freedom of the Hills", Long/Middendorf "Big Walls", both have decent write ups on this topic. There's also plenty of stuff on rc.com in Pete's collection of drivel. Be warned, there is good info there (for the most part) but his writing style aka self-aggrandizing chest beating central, is not for everyone. Look for the "Dr. Piton index" over there (rc.com).

So who is this alleged sub-3rd class sloggin', 5.8 climbing, V2 plastic fallin' off, constant attacker? Enquiring minds want to know.

I use this system. Just a heads up, if you can find an extra "tree" (the rings/aider part) it can be very helpful in awkward corners or other situations where you need to stem in your aiders. You won't use it much, but when you need it, you'll be glad to have it. Trango used to sell extra trees. Also, don't believe it when Trango says you don't need daisies for this system. Their instruction sheet says something about not needing them and shows a pic of a guy on an indoor wall without daises. While you certainly could get by without them on vertical or less, you would need abs of steel. Overhanging terrain would be a complete nightmare.

The intention of the original post was to draw out some opinions on Israel's approach at dealing with terrorist groups such as firing missiles at them where invariably innocents will be killed. This week in the Gaza offensive the Israelis fired a missle that killed a couple of kids and one or two militants. I don't really disagree with their assasination style targeting of leaders of these groups, but the recent move was a step away from their usual approach of acting on intelligence to hit them when they are isolated from the innocents, such as the strikes they've made on vehicles carrying Hamas leaders. I see the next step they might take as what I described...firing missles into crowds at rallys etc.

Why naturally your towel palette will depend upon your home's style, decor, and the Dow. For a tudor-inspired modern home with Mission style furnishings and exposed beam interior, earth tones would be a fine compliment. But only if the S&P 500 or the Wilshire 5000 is up for the month. However, for an adobe or stucco dwelling in the southwest with rustic french country inspired heavy wooden furnishings and a bear market, earth tones in towels are acceptable only in ecru, or rust, but ideally your southwestern towel palette should take cues from the rich hues of mexican accents and decorative tiles in rich golds, purples, oranges and the like. Oh do pardon me, I absolutley must tend to my flower garden and concoct a brie stuffed pheasant flambeau for my guest who shall arrive shortly. Oh Jeeves, please alert the warden that my guest shall arrive at 6 and we shall use cell block 4 for entertaining this evening. Isn't this a lovely centerpiece?

Not talking about Iraq j_b, but nice try for a diversion. Surely you would be the first to admit that a link between Iraq and the major terrorist players is tenuous at best, and most likely non-existent beyond the fact that they have arrived on the scene in Iraq for the easy pickings on US targets. RBW, I ask again, where do you draw the line? Is financing an act of terrorism participation or advocation? Is providing planning, logistical support, moral support, or anything other than pushing the button on a detonator terrorism or advocating terrorism? I did not vote for the current administration. I also joined demonstrators opposing our invasion of Iraq. But by your argument I've been actively supporting those policies and actions of our government's that you equate with terrorism simply because I pay my taxes and vote...even though I vote against such policies and actions?.
-
My rant may be weak, but your logic is weaker. Active participation and passive association are quite different. Living in a neighborhood where a rally takes place is one thing, joining the rally and advocating terrorist acts is quite another. Two points for an attempt, no points for substance. Try again.

Do you carry an AK-47 at your union rallys?

Now Cocoa, I didn't insult you, behave yourself. Shouldn't you be off moondancing somewhere?

Yeah RUMR, sidewinder is air to air heat seeker, should have said AGM 130, AGM 142, or AGM 154...have a little BBQ for Allah, terrorist kababs.

"I want to kill you infidel!" is a political statement? These people are not carrying signs that say "Equal rights for women" or "Share the oil wealth". How do you differentiate between terrorist and non-terrorist? If you are at a rally, calling for death to infidels, you are supporting the cause. Is only the person carrying out the actual terrorist act a terrorist? Where do you draw the line? Is someone who plans an attack not a terrorist? One who gives monetary support? If you're there, you're part of the problem. Roast their ass.
