Thanks for the heads up. You think the birds would mind if we were 4 days early? At least the dirt and poop will still be fresh in the cracks from the winter nesting. I like climbing in dirt and poop, anyone else?

Sorry, it sounded like you had. Here is additional info. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...nter+walk+wall"

It is indeed. Check the archives and also the info should be available on the WCC website. You were tresspassing. If people can stay away, it might help with the chances of gaining back the access in the furture. Breaking the law only lesses the chances of access. Good routes over there though.

suburban erratics and rural outcrops
Tony_Bentley replied to lancegranite's topic in Climber's Board
Yes, yes and yes. Peter Puget was kind enough to make a copy of the guidebook on Split Rock and it turned out what I thought was a first ascent a few years back was in fact, a second. I also apologize for the random bolts all over the place out there. Most were for short top-rope problems but at least they are 3/8". I was just thinking about Wedgewood's rock while developing another web project and if it wasn't so protected from the neighborhood, it would be a great place to boulder. NWHikers has a writeup that basically says dont' go there except to look at the rock. Now why would I go to the rock just to look at it? -
Something like that. I think there are more taps though. It takes 10 minutes to drill into granite with a 5/16 Hilte and an Eastman rock tool once you become proficient. I wonder who has blatantly broken the laws here in the Cascades? So far I only know of one climber who has passed into the grey area of power drilling.

[TR] Cannon Mtn Attempt- North Couloir 2/19/2006
Tony_Bentley replied to Alpine_Tom's topic in Alpine Lakes
Did I miss something or did it snow between last weekend and today? There wasn't any powder in the couloir last weekend and I can only imagine that it is still consolidated since the pressure system hasn't changed much. -
No kidding! Lots of couloir stories this week. Nice work Ryan! Sounds like you are feeling good about life right about now.

I got a free LP when I bought the CD. What am I going to do with an LP? I don't even have a record player and the audio sucks coming from a needle vs CD. Can someone send me the song Move On? I really want that song but I don't want the entire album. e-mail is toe-knee at toe-knee-bent-lee dot com....spelled like my avatar name. Thanks kind climbers of the cascades.

Triple C's would probably pass as a ski route by now. If anyone wants to hit in after this next storm cycle, I'll help break trail and shoot footage from the other side of the lake.

Would I feel better about them paying out of their own pockets? It wouldn't matter to me at all. The cost to run a forum is about $20 a month until the word gets out and extra bandwidth is necessary. Correct me if I'm wrong Admins but you guys needed funding for bandwidth, correct?
-
Notice the Google ads are right in the middle of the page? Some are for the community and most are for the money. At least here we know they really need the money to support the bandwidth of the 10,000 members and the other people who browse this site. I'd bet PMS and FF get most of their web traffic from the ads posted here.

calling out to fellow splitboarders...
Tony_Bentley replied to daveheinbach's topic in the *freshiezone*
After seeing ASHW skinning uphill and skiing downhill on his board the other day, I suppose there are drawbacks to both the plastic boots with plate bindings and the soft boots with regular bindings. Either way, at least snowboarders can go uphill and traverse now and even break trail with their board. Also glad to hear the canyon is in. I might have to make a trip up there after another sweet freeze and snowfall. This winter has been great! -
RC that is some dough! At least you are getting out there. Now if I can only figure out where you will be so I can have a tow rope and a thumb out.....
-
Yes. There is snow. Break that beast yet?
-
ron and justin, you guys should go ride together sometime. I must contest. I hiked lower nash this morning and pretty much tumbled down the breakable crust. There has to be a way to make turns in that stuff. For breakable crust, snowboarding IS superior.
-
Try skiing and snowboarding. They both have their merits and are equally as fun. I ski but the grass is green on both sides of the fence.

Skied Wildcatz at Stevens today with no other tracks in sight. Good times.
