Good times Sky. Thanks again for the invitation. If I look closely, I can see my tracks through the icefall. Skiing the through the trees I kept saying to myself, "I'm gonna get worked!" Dave has a report on TAY if anyone wants additional details: http://www.turns-all-year.com/skiing_snowboarding/trip_reports/index.php?topic=4574.0

PCFTD is spectacular. I grabbed the chains for the finish move though. I didn't see the hold directly to the right of the chains and couldn't think of what to do! Frosty, next time I think I will just keep going to the top anchors. Gotta save another #2 for the upper crack though.

Calling all AT experts... gear questions.
Tony_Bentley replied to MountaingirlBC's topic in the *freshiezone*
I had a conversation with an ice climber this winter about approaching in his leathers so he didn't have to carry his leathers to the base of the climb. I've carried climbing boots for easy rock after a ski approach and enjoyed a great ski out. The best of both worlds! Carrying a heavy pack while skiing takes some extra muscles and as much support as you can get from your ski boots. Snowboarding with mountaineering boots on the other hand.... And Paul.....I know you will buy Dynafits within the next year or two so POW! Sorry we didn't ski yesterday. Lemme-know if you can go during this week. -

Lasers are Dynafit compatible. Dynafits are your best bet for getting the right fit and having a light AT setup. There isn't much reason to have skis that fit your classic mountaineering boots now that you have AT. You can climb in your Lasers from now on if you want. As far as releasable; remember that almost every Telemark skier on this planet does not have a releasable binding. Buck up and buy Dynafit and all of your problems will be over. They are on sale at The Mountaineer Here -
PFFFT! It works now.

Thanks for the heads up. You think the birds would mind if we were 4 days early? At least the dirt and poop will still be fresh in the cracks from the winter nesting. I like climbing in dirt and poop, anyone else?

It is indeed. Check the archives and also the info should be available on the WCC website. You were tresspassing. If people can stay away, it might help with the chances of gaining back the access in the furture. Breaking the law only lesses the chances of access. Good routes over there though.

suburban erratics and rural outcrops
Tony_Bentley replied to lancegranite's topic in Climber's Board
Yes, yes and yes. Peter Puget was kind enough to make a copy of the guidebook on Split Rock and it turned out what I thought was a first ascent a few years back was in fact, a second. I also apologize for the random bolts all over the place out there. Most were for short top-rope problems but at least they are 3/8". I was just thinking about Wedgewood's rock while developing another web project and if it wasn't so protected from the neighborhood, it would be a great place to boulder. NWHikers has a writeup that basically says dont' go there except to look at the rock. Now why would I go to the rock just to look at it? -
Something like that. I think there are more taps though. It takes 10 minutes to drill into granite with a 5/16 Hilte and an Eastman rock tool once you become proficient. I wonder who has blatantly broken the laws here in the Cascades? So far I only know of one climber who has passed into the grey area of power drilling.

[TR] Cannon Mtn Attempt- North Couloir 2/19/2006
Tony_Bentley replied to Alpine_Tom's topic in Alpine Lakes
Did I miss something or did it snow between last weekend and today? There wasn't any powder in the couloir last weekend and I can only imagine that it is still consolidated since the pressure system hasn't changed much. -
No kidding! Lots of couloir stories this week. Nice work Ryan! Sounds like you are feeling good about life right about now.

I really want that song but I don't want the entire album. e-mail is toe-knee at toe-knee-bent-lee dot com....spelled like my avatar name. Thanks kind climbers of the cascades.
