I think you should ignore the forecast and go there. I would go but I promised to help a good friend move into his new place sunday. I know I know horrible time to do that but hey I promised. I think we should build some huts back there and then you can stay for trips and move across the mountains as in Canada. Less impact in the long run and less need for helicopters or snowmobiles.

I have met colin. He is very enthusiastic and friendly. He climbs well and is bold. He does not have an ego like some people. If that bothers you then too bad seek more training and or instruction.

I have an osprey pack. Not this one above. I have to agree that they are often over engineered. However the osprey pack I own is the most comfortable pack I have used. It has too many straps and such though..
