When I flew to Nepal in 2000, our checked bags were maxed out at the weight limit, so we carried all our metal hardwear on in our backpacks. We had ice tools, crampons, "kifeblade" pitons, ice screws...all that stuff. And they didn't give us any hassel. those were the days... The security check in Tokyo was pretty funny though, this petite Japannese woman with white gloves on pulling out my tools and crampons, you should have seen here face... "They, are for mountain climbing"...making climbing motions with my arms. "ohhhh....ah so" nod, nod, bow, bow. Sweeet I doubt they'd let you'd take even poles through carry on now, aybe if you were elderly or handycapped.

If any of you guys wants to climb/ski Mt Mclaughlin this winter and would like a partner...let me know. It is the closet "big" peak to my house, about 45 min drive.

Alex, I have seen lots of moccasyms get resoled by Ramuta and they looked great. he's done my red chili slippers 2wice and they are still rockin! Don't wait to long though, once the leather underneath the rubber is damaged, they are pretty much trashed. He will let you know, it's worth a try.

FYI- Patagonia will fix this stitching for free. I had them fix an old pair of Talus pants that had similar use. Drop them off in the seattle store and it's no hassel.

I'm more worried about the washing machine wearing out my scholler stuff.

A friend of mine works for a small company based in Livingston Montana. All hand sewn, good quality materials. I can't remember the name, I'll get back to you on it.

I wonder if there is a corelation between people who are cc.com adicts and people who played alot of video games when they were kids. I openly admit that I am 100% obsesive cumpulsive...

My favorite arcadfe game of all time is Daytona 500, the sit down stock car game. we had it in the Union Building in Bozeman and I'd spend about 5 dollars a day on it....more than I ussualy spent on food for a day. But i could beat anyone...

I spent more time shooting guns when I was a kid than playing video games. And I sold my Sega for a skateboard after a month. But video games were cool too. I had this one friend who was like a master at all nintendo games. i hated going to his hous and playing with him. He would play Mario for like an hour before he died, then I would get the controller and die in like a minute and a half. As soon as he pulled out Zelda I would just leave

or maybe you just get to go climbing alot more than me. or are hard on your gear for some reason. since '95 I have never needed to replace a single pick. you can use your 3 dollar gloves and be happy, good for you, I like these ones.

Do you mean Golden Axe? That game was the shit! And it was cool before all the Lord of the Rings Movie Hype...I liked being the dwarf with the bg ass axe!

I allways learned that you should take turns, have a meeting point away from the run out zone, and watch eachothers backs should the slope fail in back country situations. If I see some dude standing around I make sure his beacon is on and he knows whats up. Poaching a line in bounds though is open season, if you can catch me

Its amazig what you can do without tools! Hand jams in ice rock!

yeah, all that shit sounds like alot of work...I'll paythe 60 bucks...if they last a season I am happy...a good pair of gloves is key. carolyn, I learned to ice climb in mittens...placing screws and all that in them. But I found that my hand get less cold in a thin glove for some reason. I keep mits clipped on the back of my harness for the belays.

BD drytool gloves are like $60 also, these are way better...much warmer.

This gloves rock! I used it in Banff in 0-20 degree temps and they were warm. Thin, flexible, pretty waterresistant, and the palm has this sticky type leather stuff. Two thumbs up Only complaint, the stitching seems a little weak. Link
