i'm looking to buy some screamers, mostly for ice climbing but maybe also to use for aid. just curious what kinds of screamers any ice climbers out there prefer and why? i've climbed with a bunch of different kinds; just not sure about the nuances. also, if any of you use ice screams do you use two biners all the time or do you just slip it over the screw all the time or change it up depending. seems no 2nd biner would save some weight ...

it's not really that simple. it can vary from season to season; not just within a season. guidebooks are just guidebooks for crying out loud.

well, you are kind of tall. (or maybe i'm just kind of short? ) whatever ... me cussing like a sailor has nothing to do with your height! i cuss when i climb with erock's short punk ass, too.

they *could* be helpful if ice was consistent. i've taken newbies to "wi2" routes that were definitely wi3+ at the time. are ice routes generally graded for when they're in their best condition? that would account for stuff seeming to be graded easier than the shape they might be in - even if consistently off over the past few years ... especially considering the - um - "obvious" global warming.

it's true about michael jackson. i saw it on a tv special about him. "Having water balloon fights and climbing trees -- I think that those two are my favorite." funny thing is ... HE AID CLIMBS THEM!
